Disco is broader than one believes. I think that Idol will consider early 80's club music (Blondie, Madonna, Rick James, and the like) disco music instead of what it really is-- club music. Groups like the Commodores would not be disco either but a cross genre mix of club, disco and dare I say pop.

Disco is not just a skinny John Travolta is a tight white suit dancing to the Bee Gees. Sure, there are some songs that are so overdone (I will survive, YMCA, Macho Man, Turn the Beat Around) but some are great. Disco sort of became a caricature of itself once it gained popularaty all over. I know I sort of die inside when I hear great disco songs overdone in muzak or played by horrible cover bands on Love Boat reruns!

I love early 80's club music. I can still remember jamming out to Apache Jump on It, Rick James and Blondie's Rapture as a middle schooler! To some those songs are disco-- and to some it is a separate genre.

Great bands/artists have disco songs: Earth Wind and Fire, KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer are amazing. I never liked the Bee Gee because well, they sang so effectedly.. Have you ever heard Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon's version of the Bee Gees? I like that better!

OMG!!! I sort of remember that song. Could that be the song that gave DS the idea to call his Gran "Chemo-Sabe"? She's getting ready to start her chemo, and she LOVES the nickname.

YES!!! This song has a revival now--at least in middle schools. Part of me loves it (hey these kids are learning what old school hip hop is all about!) and the other part of me feels really old!

My dream theme week, would be to have a Simon Cowell's Pick Week, not judge's pick, but Simon's pick. I'd love to see Simon coach the contestants and see if they actually follow his advice. It could be quite amusing.

Jennifer Hudson- glad she didn't win Idol, she had more doors open without winning. She sounds amazing!

Bottom 3- Lil should be gone before Matt. I seriously want to know who the heck is voting for her. Glad the save was used.

I'm glad they used the save for Matt. He sounded awesome last night and I do like him, he just needs to step up his game. I hope Lil and... Anoop go home next week. I'd love for it to be Danny but can't see that happening. I hope Adam and Kris are somehow the Top 2 (which'll never happen)!

How amazing was Jen Hudson?!!!! She looked gorgeous and sounded amazing. I'm not into R&B but I like a lot of her music. I'm still amazed that she was an Oscar. Serious actors make years and years of amazing films without ever winning the big award, and she loses American Idol, does a single movie and wins and Acaedmy Award! Amazing. If that's not the ultimate "dream big" story I don't know what is.

I'm normally not a fan of the Radio Disney music, but I like Miley. I think she's a lot more talented than other young isngers out there. My dad works at NBC and got my little cousin and I into the VIP area for her Today Show concert last summer and she sounded really good live. Taylor Swift, on the other hand... ugh. Horrible live.

Why? Why? Why? Why let Lil come so close to going home, only to have her STAY???? I'm glad they used the save on Matt, so Lil will always wonder if they would have used it on her or not. (Not.)

As for disco week, prepare to have Lil sing "I Will Survive," without a doubt. But since she can't sing the word "will" the song will be "I Wi' Survive." She is useless and I've been ready to see her go for a while now. Once she got major attitude, I wanted her gone all the more.

See I have a hard time noting that Rick James is considered disco... Same with Madonna. I think that Rick James, Prince and Madonna would be club music and not necessarily disco music per se.

Add Micheal Jackso to your list. He was POP, not disco. Maybe the Jackson 5.... (dunno about that one...)

Funny- right after the show last night our poll shwed 7 people voted for Matt. It's up to 9 now.

I'm not upset they used the save but it certainly wasn't used for the purpose they claimed they were adding it this year- to save the shocking boot. Matt was not in anyway a shocking boot, even to his biggest fans. As long as Adam isn't in the bottom 2 next week, I'm not going to worry about it and I don't see how he could be

I am actually really excited about disco week even though I don't like the music. I think so many of the contestants will have trouble with it that it might really seperate who is truly cut out for the business. I am also excited about 2 people going home and I hope it is Matt and Lil. I am worried about Allison though, this could be a really tough week for her in particular. I also can't see Kris doing it either. I can't picture what Adam will do but I have no doubt that he will pull it off.

I also agree that a simon picking the songs week would be a big thing. The only judge I pay attention to is him and Cara. You can't understand paulas babble and I just don't care for randy that much.
