Ryan never did say what the theme is going to be for next week. But on of our local news shows was just saying that next week is jazz week. Not sure how they would know, but they could be right.

Mjsbigblog is saying "Rat Pack Standards" specifically limited to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior and Dean Martin.

My son suggests http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inW91qRDGwI for Adam but since it isn't a Rat Pack song, we won't be hearing it!!!

Wow......Paula...I hope she's wearing some nice undies since the people in the 1st row just got a crotch shot!

I was thinking the same thing when the lady in the yellow dress(can't remember her name) was singing. The dress looked like it could have been see-thru up close so maybe that's why Simon was laughing and smiling. ;)

Wow, so many posts since yesterday!!! You guys have been busy!

This years Idol is so darn boring. I watch, but not with any excitement, not look forward to anyone.

I was sorry to see Anoop go this week. I felt bad for him. He's not a fave but would rather have Alison go first...we're down to the time when those who have graced the bottom 3 over and over will fall off, so hopefully, Alison goes next week, then Matt (or visa versa), then we'll be down to Danny, Chris and Adam. I'd like to see Chris win - Danny I don't think is right for the top spot and too many are just too darned sure it will be Adam. I don't usually vote until the last 3, so I'll be voting for Chris - not 'cause I love him, just because...:confused3

Ahh....for last year...:lovestruc

I think that Idol just sent home who they wanted too.....how would it of looked they saved Matt and then went home the next week....

Matt should of been the one going home...not Anoop.
Boy....Dial Idol....was way off...either that..or like i said...American Idol chose who to send home...

P.S. I love when Adam screeches...I think he is his best when he does this...

love him..and I never thought I would...I also have my 51 year old husband watching him....never watched before..

go Adam:love:

I think Lil and Anoop were exactly who should have gone home.

I love Muse's version of Feeling Good! :thumbsup2

I think the producers send home who they want every week regardless of the votes, which is why I don't vote anymore. I loved the first two seasons and was a HUGE Clay fan season 2. After it was revealed that millions of his votes for the finale were never counted and that he had actually won but they gave it to Ruben anyway, I've refused to waste my time voting  There's a disclaimer right at the end of the show saying that the producers have the right to do whatever they want, and they know exactly who they want to win... which is why I'd be surprised if Danny won because it would be another "Taylor Hicks... who?" situation within a few months

I disagree I thnk Danny will have a huge future he is very talented unlike Taylor who could only sing one type of music

I didn't read thru all the posts,
but I am thinking the big surprise was sending someone home first so quickly in the first minutes of the show.
i don't remember them ever doing that before.

Why do the give Matt so much screen time during the group numbers? Maybe I focus on him because I just don't like him but they always give him a prominent spot. It could be that they are focusing on the weaker performers in order to help them out? In addition to being the best singer, Adam is the best dancer. I would have liked to have seen more of him last night but they had him hidden on the second row during most of the performance. And can Danny Gokey not get by without doing some kind of pelvic thrust? I so could have done without that squatting thrust (ewww!) near the beginning of the group number.

I'm with those of you who just didn't enjoy David Archuleta last night. That was just not good and kind of icky.

Not this late in the game but they have done it with the larger groups. They guillotined poor Garrett Haley last year with no warning....:scared:

Sorry, guy, you're OUTTA here...

That's the thing, Danny sounds exactly the same week after week... the gravely, constipated sound like he's really struggling  I LOVED him in the beginning but but then got sick of the same old gravely screaming week after week :confused3 It'll be close if it comes down to Adam and Danny in the final 2!

I agree and disagree. I agree that Danny will be another Taylor Hicks and for that specific reason I disagree that the producers choose their winner. Simon always disliked Taylor Hicks yet he went on to win.

Simon didn't love him, but everyone else did. He was more popular than everyone else on that season combined. Remember how CRAZY everyone went when he performed? Every single person was on their feet screaming SSSOOOULLL PATRROOOOLLLLLL! He was entertaining and had HUGE support, so I think the producers thought he would be the most profitable that season... and looking at everyone else from that season, he still might have been :lmao:

It's just a TV show after all, and the producers can do what they want. Just look at Britain's Got Talent... now there's word that Susan Boyle was a plant and that Simon knew exactly what he was doing ;)

Hello.

I know pretty much all of you hated David A's performance last night.. I know he wasn't amazing, but he wasn't horrible either. I agree he had some pitch problems and stuff, but he's sick and has been singing a LOT lately. So obviously it's hard on his voice. But he did pretty dang awesome for that. Better than all of Adam's dreadfully horrendous shrieking and screaming.

By the way, David Osmond has a new single out called 'Last Day' on itunes. Be sure you get it.

The big surprise was Paula choreographing the dance number. Obviously her pals were giving her a plug 'cause they seem to get a lot of access to her. The bloggers on EW actually say she is the most invested in the show and spends the most time with the kids. The other judges leave as soon as the show but Paula comes in early and stays late & tries to be as helpful as possible. I hope they renew her contract because she and Simon together are quite entertaining.

Hearing both David's again was interesting because I thought both of them sounded very weak. As primarily because Adam is SO good he makes every contestant that came before look like an amateur. Even the producer of the show says he's "Out of this world."

From MTV.com - more proof of the greatness of Adam.

Adam Lambert Got 'American Idol' Training At Wild 'Zodiac Show''
He's really cut out for this on every level,' says Lee Cherry, the L.A. revue's co-creator. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Lisa Gonzalez

For most "American Idol" fans, Adam Lambert is the wildest, most unusual contestant they've ever seen on the show. But to his friends and castmates in Los Angeles' long-running variety extravaganza "The Zodiac Show," the Adam you see on the "Idol" stage every week is nothing compared to what they've witnessed back home.

Lee Cherry, "Zodiac" co-creator and director, first met Lambert in Europe in 2003, when the singer was touring with the musical "Hair," and he directed Lambert in his "Zodiac" stage debut in 2004. "He did [Sam Cooke's] 'A Change Is Gonna Come' and as Randy would say, he blew it out the box, dog," Cherry said. "That was pretty much the first time in L.A. anyone saw him being Adam in all his full fabulousness, and everybody lost their minds."

Several years later, at the most recent "Zodiac" show in December, Cherry said Lambert wrote some songs with Madonna collaborator Monte Pittman, and he got a real sense of how far the 28-year-old singer could go. "That was a big collaboration and a big production number, where he had the whole outfit and the dancers and the whole thing. ... We love seeing Adam do his thing how he loves to do it, and you've only seen the half of it on 'American Idol,' " Cherry said.

The six-year-old "Zodiac Show" started as an underground, after-hours monthly party hosted by Los Angeles' dance and glam-rock communities that grew into an irregular series of big, one-off productions at the city's Avalon Theatre. The events revolve around a sign of the Zodiac, and they include every kind of performer imaginable, from singers, dancers and actors to comedians, jugglers, fire-eaters and high-wire acts. It's been described as a "rock 'n' roll Cirque du Soleil."

Part of the reason Cherry thinks Lambert is doing so well on "Idol" is because of the experience he's had onstage at the "Zodiac," performing his own outrageous glam-rock songs, as well as creative covers of other songs and learning how to be part of an ensemble.
"Before 'American Idol,' [he] didn't really have an outlet for his talent, to do it the way he wanted to do it," Cherry said. "Every time he was working, he had to fit into some kind of box. He was doing it because he had to do it, he had to live. But on our stage is where he got to ... bring the black nail polish, bring as much glitter as you can bring, what's the craziest outfit you can. It's never too much, except for when it is. Because sometimes, sometimes we ... "
Scarlett, the show's other co-creator and co-lead singer, interrupted Cherry: "We have to tone him down," she laughed.
Like, for instance, the time he wanted to perform a song with a flaming headdress, and they had to convince him it was too dangerous.
Cherry, Scarlett and co-creative director and former Pussycat Dolls member Carmit Bachar said they are all immensely proud of Lambert's success on "Idol," but they're not surprised he's doing so well on such a mainstream national stage.

"I think that it's really been beautiful on the show to see him grow and take in all the comments and the constructive criticism and really add it to his performances, and he's so humble and so beautiful, and he means it and he's real," Scarlett said.

That doesn't mean they weren't a bit worried that America wouldn't know what to do with a eyeliner-wearing, banshee-wailing, glam-rock, emo theater kid who didn't exactly fit the more traditional style of an "Idol" front runner. "He's really cut out for this on every level," Cherry said. "[But] we ... honestly didn't know how he was going to be received. We thought he was either going to get kicked off right away or he was going to win. We figured it was going to be one or the other. We knew he was going to be the best singer of the bunch by far."

After conferring with Lambert early on, Cherry posted a number of the singer's "Zodiac" performances on YouTube, including the very David Bowie-esque glam-rock original "Crawl Thru Fire" from last September, which has garnered more than 400,000 views to date. While each "Zodiac" revue is full of performances from a variety of Hollywood artists at the top of their respective games (choreography, dancing, songwriting, makeup, singing), he said Lambert has that indescribable "it" factor that sets him apart even on a stage with other super-talented performers.

Scarlett said despite Lambert's unusual background and flamboyant (for "Idol") style, she's not surprised America is embracing him. "They heard somebody breaking through," she said of the early embrace of Lambert. "When you're witnessing something like that, it's undeniable, even if you're from, like, Arkansas. You're like, 'Oh, my god, I'm watching a star. This is incredible!'"

I think performances like 'Crawl thru Fire" are the real Adam, and he is having to tone down big time for Idol. He is probably just dying having to rein it in. Yes, even tho he does put his shrill high notes into most songs, he is holding wayback, I think. Personally, I think winning Idol will not be best for him, based on what some past winners have commented on about the restraints of their contracts, but I guess the guy wants it, so :confused3Can you see him ready to bust out and the Idol contract saying, well, you nned 3 of X type song, 3 of Y type song,
The thing with Adam is his "show" personality is so much more entertaining than just listening to him, don't get me wrong, it's not like he is boring or anything9 far from it)...but he is so much better hearing AND watching, so I wonder ,really, how he will go over album wise..he needs a killer band that can support his style, so wonder how his first album will be . I still keep picturing Guns n Roses, you know, the hard rock over the top type videos, not the boring ballad type. I mean, the guys got it , he should be able to use it his way.

ITA. I was just saying to my dh the other day, that I would totally go to an Adam concert and he said, "You haven't wanted to go to a concert in 20 years." And that's right. But I can totally see that Adam would put on an amazing show because not only does he have that star quality, talent and skill, he knows how to put on a show.

Danny will NOT be another Taylor Hicks.
While I agree that he needs to "change it up a bit" and show us another side of him, his voice will ultimately carry him on to bigger things - with or without the AI win.
Taylor was just all show.

It's all about the music they release after the show. I know I've said it before, but I can't tell you how much I LOVED DC last season but I haaaaate this album and change the station whenever his stuff comes on. If Danny puts out great music, I'd definitely listen to it. Same with Adam and Kris, who I love. If their albums suck, I won't listen to them :confused3 I already have my favorite bands/performers/entertainers... I watch AI mainly for the entertainment value, so if the people I like or didn't like put out albums I didn't expect, it really wouldn't phase me :thumbsup2
