I usually tear up at the goodbye videos but I liked the way they did it tonight.

I kind of forgot that Anoop was lucky#13 so I agree that he had a good ride.

On to next week!

I hate missing the results show...looks like Lil is finally gone..and Anoop too. Not really upset about Anoop, I liked him but it was either him or Matt's time to go and I knew I would be OK with either of them saying bye bye.,

BTW, from MJS blog:

John Jay and Rich, the morning DJs at KISS Phoenix reported on their radio show this morning that something “big” is going to happen on tonight’s results show–something that’s never happened before.

So did anyone figure out what the big surprise was? Or were they just anticipating a big one with the seniors performing. Maybe a major wardrobe malfunction?

Archie sounds off.

He made all the remaining contestants this year sound amazing.

I was really hoping for Danny. But, oh well, gives me something to hope for next week.

The Idol show in Nashville was canceled. Darn Idol contracts. :guilty:

which Idol show? I am assuming it was not he "real" Idol tour.

NO......Danny was my pick to go all the way, now I waver between him and Kris as my top picks. I don't want him gone yet.

The Idol show was Alexis Grace, Ricky Braddy, Kristen McNamara, Ann Marie, and Brent Keith. It was like 5 bucks

I think that America got it right tonight. Lil and Anoop had both kinda reached the end of their ropes and were the ones that needed to go home. I think we have a really good top 5 this year. Also I think that Archuleta's performance showed how wrong America can be with the voting because he was just so awful. I can't believe he was never in the bottom 3 let alone made it to the final 2.

I agree and they could of taken matt with them too.

When they called Lil's name first, I made this face :headache: because the first person to stand up NEVER goes home. But tonight they pulled a switcheroo and sent her home in record time. Not a minute too soon, I might add! :thumbsup2

For the people who thought KC's vocals were weak, his vocals were never his strong suit. His voice wasn't bad in his heyday, and at least he actually sang unlike so many today....But he was a hit because his songs were danceable even if you had no rhythm, they were always upbeat and well....KC was easy on the eyes. :lovestruc It's been well over 30 years since he was at the top of his game, and people age. He almost died in a car wreck in the 80s and had to learn to walk again, etc. I would have loved to have seen some variation of The Sunshine Band, because they were great. Soooo much energy. The time I was able to sit in on KC&TSB's rehearsal, they worked their fannies off to get every dance move right, along with every note.

One thing I didn't like about the group dance/song number was the clothing on Lil and Allison. Who is dressing them? :sad2: Their clothes did not belong in the disco era. The dead latest either of those would have been worn by a girl would have been about 1974, and that's pushing it. They were more like very late 60s for the pants, early 70s for the combo. How hard is it to watch Saturday Night Fever and get a clue?

The big surprise was Paula choreographing the dance number. Obviously her pals were giving her a plug 'cause they seem to get a lot of access to her. The bloggers on EW actually say she is the most invested in the show and spends the most time with the kids. The other judges leave as soon as the show but Paula comes in early and stays late & tries to be as helpful as possible. I hope they renew her contract because she and Simon together are quite entertaining.

Hearing both David's again was interesting because I thought both of them sounded very weak. As primarily because Adam is SO good he makes every contestant that came before look like an amateur. Even the producer of the show says he's "Out of this world."

From MTV.com - more proof of the greatness of Adam.

Adam Lambert Got 'American Idol' Training At Wild 'Zodiac Show''
He's really cut out for this on every level,' says Lee Cherry, the L.A. revue's co-creator. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Lisa Gonzalez

For most "American Idol" fans, Adam Lambert is the wildest, most unusual contestant they've ever seen on the show. But to his friends and castmates in Los Angeles' long-running variety extravaganza "The Zodiac Show," the Adam you see on the "Idol" stage every week is nothing compared to what they've witnessed back home.

Lee Cherry, "Zodiac" co-creator and director, first met Lambert in Europe in 2003, when the singer was touring with the musical "Hair," and he directed Lambert in his "Zodiac" stage debut in 2004. "He did [Sam Cooke's] 'A Change Is Gonna Come' and as Randy would say, he blew it out the box, dog," Cherry said. "That was pretty much the first time in L.A. anyone saw him being Adam in all his full fabulousness, and everybody lost their minds."

Several years later, at the most recent "Zodiac" show in December, Cherry said Lambert wrote some songs with Madonna collaborator Monte Pittman, and he got a real sense of how far the 28-year-old singer could go. "That was a big collaboration and a big production number, where he had the whole outfit and the dancers and the whole thing. ... We love seeing Adam do his thing how he loves to do it, and you've only seen the half of it on 'American Idol,' " Cherry said.

The six-year-old "Zodiac Show" started as an underground, after-hours monthly party hosted by Los Angeles' dance and glam-rock communities that grew into an irregular series of big, one-off productions at the city's Avalon Theatre. The events revolve around a sign of the Zodiac, and they include every kind of performer imaginable, from singers, dancers and actors to comedians, jugglers, fire-eaters and high-wire acts. It's been described as a "rock 'n' roll Cirque du Soleil."

Part of the reason Cherry thinks Lambert is doing so well on "Idol" is because of the experience he's had onstage at the "Zodiac," performing his own outrageous glam-rock songs, as well as creative covers of other songs and learning how to be part of an ensemble.
"Before 'American Idol,' [he] didn't really have an outlet for his talent, to do it the way he wanted to do it," Cherry said. "Every time he was working, he had to fit into some kind of box. He was doing it because he had to do it, he had to live. But on our stage is where he got to ... bring the black nail polish, bring as much glitter as you can bring, what's the craziest outfit you can. It's never too much, except for when it is. Because sometimes, sometimes we ... "
Scarlett, the show's other co-creator and co-lead singer, interrupted Cherry: "We have to tone him down," she laughed.
Like, for instance, the time he wanted to perform a song with a flaming headdress, and they had to convince him it was too dangerous.
Cherry, Scarlett and co-creative director and former Pussycat Dolls member Carmit Bachar said they are all immensely proud of Lambert's success on "Idol," but they're not surprised he's doing so well on such a mainstream national stage.

"I think that it's really been beautiful on the show to see him grow and take in all the comments and the constructive criticism and really add it to his performances, and he's so humble and so beautiful, and he means it and he's real," Scarlett said.

That doesn't mean they weren't a bit worried that America wouldn't know what to do with a eyeliner-wearing, banshee-wailing, glam-rock, emo theater kid who didn't exactly fit the more traditional style of an "Idol" front runner. "He's really cut out for this on every level," Cherry said. "[But] we ... honestly didn't know how he was going to be received. We thought he was either going to get kicked off right away or he was going to win. We figured it was going to be one or the other. We knew he was going to be the best singer of the bunch by far."

After conferring with Lambert early on, Cherry posted a number of the singer's "Zodiac" performances on YouTube, including the very David Bowie-esque glam-rock original "Crawl Thru Fire" from last September, which has garnered more than 400,000 views to date. While each "Zodiac" revue is full of performances from a variety of Hollywood artists at the top of their respective games (choreography, dancing, songwriting, makeup, singing), he said Lambert has that indescribable "it" factor that sets him apart even on a stage with other super-talented performers.

Scarlett said despite Lambert's unusual background and flamboyant (for "Idol") style, she's not surprised America is embracing him. "They heard somebody breaking through," she said of the early embrace of Lambert. "When you're witnessing something like that, it's undeniable, even if you're from, like, Arkansas. You're like, 'Oh, my god, I'm watching a star. This is incredible!'"

Or we could just watch him and think, "Hey, isn't this just a copycat of the original glam rock, only with more screeching?" :rotfl2: Seriously, he's original as far as Idol is concerned, but he's not that original in general. When they announce what song he's singing, I know what it's going to be like before he walks onstage because I've seen it a few decades ago. (Ring of Fire was an exception, but that just made my ears hurt.) DH and I look at each other and wonder if Paula, Randy and Simon were living in caves back then because there is no way on earth they missed this stuff the first go around. If you were breathing back then, you knew all about glam rock. I feel as if the judges have signed a contract forbidding them to say, "The emperor has no clothes." :rolleyes1

I do think there's an excellent chance he will win, but many of us have been there, done that with what he's offering most weeks. Original, it isn't. A few weeks, I've enjoyed his vocals until he felt compelled to screech, then it was ruined. I don't see the comparison so many make to Freddy Mercury, aside from the gay issue. And that's no real basis for comparison. Freddy hit high notes beautifully, he didn't screech. Yes, they both have dark hair, but only one is the real deal. And Freddy was an original. :worship: If only Adam would drop that screech, I'd find him 100% more appealing. Sadly, it detracts from what can be an otherwise lovely performance. But then, I've never liked screechers. :scared:

...well, [ *sniff* ] I HOPE you all [*sniff*, *sniff*] are happy, now that [*sigh*] Lil and Anoop [*sniff*] are gone.....WAAAAHHHHH!!

NOT!!!

The big surprise was Paula choreographing the dance number. [/B]

But this had been talked about by Johnjay and whoever. They told us the surprise and then expected us to be surprised???

Anyone else have friends or family that usually don't watch Idol but are really into it this year because of Adam? My husband thinks he is fantastic and he usually just gives Idol a once over so he can make polite conversation about it with me. This season he is totally amazed by him. For a 54 year old guy who never watches reality television it is pretty funny.

I was very sad to see Anoop go. He has a great voice. I think Matt should have gone before him. What I don't like about this season is the fact we know who is going to win. We knew it when it started. Adam has had previous experience in the entertainment area. I would much rather see an average person with know real singing background win this competition. Adam is using this for exposure. He knows and so do the judges that he is better than this. I for one am not a fan. I think he seems like a good guy but I'm not crazy about his singing. It all seems so dark? I guess all I can look foward to is who comes in second. I like Danny and Allison. I guess we will see.

So did anyone figure out what the big surprise was? Or were they just anticipating a big one with the seniors performing. Maybe a major wardrobe malfunction?...

...the 'seniors' performing WAS a major wardrobe mafunction!!! Do any of them even own a mirror?!??! [...mebbe with the exception of KC...]

Time for the mute, Robin.

I found the OFF button instead. :surfweb:

Suddenly even Lil sounds good........:scared:

:lmao:

This confirms that David Cook was the right winner last year.

:worship:aMEN!!
That was pitchy dawg. You know I love you and you have mad skills, but it was just a'ight. But I love ya. Love ya.

Did Ryan say what next weeks theme is going to be?

Ryan never did say what the theme is going to be for next week. But on of our local news shows was just saying that next week is jazz week. Not sure how they would know, but they could be right.

AGREED!!!!!!!!! ::yes::

I am a huge Adam fan, but I'm not sold that he is going to win this thing. My money is on Gokey.
