American Idol Top 20 Season 9

Last night was the first time in the history of my Idol watching I did not watch the show. I watched the Housewives of Orange County. The sad part of it is I did not even care that I was missing it.

Going to need some of Mother's Little Helper to get through the rest of the season. But, You Can't Always Get What You Want and we're not seeing much Hot Stuff this year. No one is really Respectable and if I keep watching I'll end up having my 19th Nervous Breakdown (or will that be from March Madness games??? )

Some of the performers just have Far Away Eyes or are downright Stoned. I'm just Waiting On A Friend to Gimme Shelter. No Sympathy for the Devil (Simon) from me this year.

If the singers don't Start Me Up soon, I'm going to take a trip 2000 Light Years From Home.

I still say that one has to wonder if Paula Abdul was the real one picking the talent.

I kinda remeber her picking many of the winners very early on.

I really think Cara kicked out some guys in the audition that should have stayed cause she got irritataded by their look.

I thoght the guys were awful.
I cannot even remember what most sang this morning, and I am glad about that.
My kids didn't even like it.

People should vote for the songs that they want contestants to do. You know AI could pump up their hits on their site.

Andrew Garcia should do "Hotel California".

Do they have a Big pool of songs or can they sing anything?

Bowersox shoul do "Son of a Preacher Man" I also think she has a good enough voice where she could rearange some earlier jazz songs.

I just didn't get Mike. I actually thought that Kara crying was a joke at first.

I'm also sick of them saying "How old are you?" to some based on the song that the sing (like Aaron and Katie) but say nothing to others (like Alex, Siobhan and Lilly) when they choose an old song.

Clearly they have their favorites that they are trying to hype and get pushed through.

My take on last night's performances:

Lee Dewyze - I liked this. I think I liked this more than any of his other performances. It did sound a lot like the original but I don't think that is bad.

Alex Lambert - I really liked this. Alex is becoming one of my favorites.

Tim Urban - I don't know what to say about this one. I absolutely love this song and Tim did a fairly decent job. His version though just doesn't compare to the moment that Jason Castro had with this song a couple of seasons ago. Jason is my favorite American Idol of all so it is hard for me to give someone else a good job unless he can do this better than Jason. Tim was OK, just not as good as Jason.

Andrew Garcia - This was OK. I am not a huge fan of Andrew's voice but I can see where people who like this type of voice would like this. Just not for me.

Casey James - I thought Casey did a good job with this song. I seem to like everything this guy does. He and Alex are my favorites right now.

Aaron Kelly - This was just bad.

Todrick Hall - This was bad also. I don't get what the judges were saying or hearing. I think it is time for him to go.

Mike Lynche - I am really puzzled by the judges reactions to this one. I don't like this type of song so, to be fair, I probably was going to dislike this no matter how he sang it. I will yield to others who are fans of this song but I really think the judges over praised this one.

I hope Todrick and Aaron go home this week.

Totally. You could tell this year even more than previous years.

David A could leave a load of steaming crap on the stage and they'd praise him like he was the second coming.

I'm so positive they're given their cues from the PTB and they make their decisions based on croneyism and under the table deals.

NO ONE is really GOOD. NO ONE has had a moment recently. This year is horrendous.

Oh and oh yeah, PUTTING A HIT OUT ON BIG MIKE!!!

You definitely didn't miss much, except Kara acting like a hormonal idiot all night. She was either overly flirting with Simon (and I think she is way worse than Paula ever was) or being rude talking while the kids were performing or crying like an idiot over Mike's performance.

Oh and lets not forget that Ellen wanted to run up and give Tim a big hug. She looked like an idiot. This isn't a preschool... this is a SINGING competition and Ellen doesn't get that at all.

Totally agree with your post. Kara crying was ridiculous. Not saying Mike didn't sing the song well, just do not get the over the top response to it.

I did think Simon was good at shutting Kara up with her lecture to Aaron about sining a song writen for a man. These people are not performers.(except Randy, I guess). Just because Kara can't sing a good song without a connection doesn't mean someone else can't. A good song is a good song and you can feel a connection to a song because the music and the harmony are awesome and you have a gift to sing and feel the music. She needs to get over herself.


And to the poster who said that Paula probably was the best at picking the talent I say AMEN! She was truly the only one who could see an artist in the making. I absolutely loved David Cook but I think he has ruined it for the up and coming seasons after him. That year it was all about David changing things up which was amazing. Now all they ever talk about is "make it your own, change it up or, just to confuse them "that song didn't need to be changed, just stand there and sing a good song from the heart". We all used to laugh at Paula for what seemed like ridiculous statements, but now the whole stinking panel of judges speaks jibberish and Paula sounds SANE compared to these guys this year.

Very dissappointed in the year, but mostly in the judges. I swear Kara would not have said nice things about Carrie Underwood if she had been a judge. Carrie did not come to AI as a star. They expect everyone to be a star before the get on the dang show!

Season 7 and Season 8 were the two years I actually went gaga over the show, because I LOVED (still do) David Cook and I was a fan of both Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. They just made the show exciting and not as planned out.

This year? Feels extremely empty, to be honest. There's no one to go GAGA for. Ironically, it's the same year that Paula wasn't on the show.

I sense something here. Maybe between all her babbling and spurts of randomness, she was making sense. Without her, the panel is just too critical, and no one is standing out for me.
