i'm not a mariah fan but was wowed with david cook's singing. the start was fine but the ending won me over

the girls didn't move me tonight at all.
i thought carly and kristy did better than the other two girls.

David A was fantastic (although he still kind of creeps me out). I enjoyed Carly, that is a hard song. Syesha--I didn't care too much for it. Brooke--good try. It wasn't awful or anything, just ok. KLC--ok that is one of my favorite Mariah songs, and I thought the big notes were good, but the lower ones were rough....I am loving tonight however b/c I am a HUGE Mariah fan. I stopped by Sam's this morning to pick up the new album, which is great!!! Ok I'm done for now...

Carly= I thought she did EXCELLENT!!! I really liked that she covered up here tattoos

I actually liked Carly tonight. I think she looked very pretty too. I'm glad that she wore something elegant and covered the tattoo also. I have no problem with the tat but I feel that there is a time and place for it. She made a very wise choice in song and dress tonight.

Ok, that's it! I now officially have a favorite...David Cook is awesome. I have been having mixed feelings about everyone so far this season, but I think David Cook is the real deal. Oh, and Jason was ok--I like that song alot and it was strange to hear it from someone else...it seemed watered down. And that's all I have to say about tonight.

I couldn't believe it, but David Cook had me in tears at the end of his performance. He is amazing. The thought of his brother being there for such a wonderful performance just got to me.

Overall, it wasn't a bad night, considering I am not a big Mariah fan. I thought she did well as a mentor.
I thought that Carly, Syesha and Jason did really well. Little David was fine I guess, but he bugs me for some reason. David C was okay, but I just really don't care for him. I don't like the screaming towards the end of the song. KLC did pretty good on the chorus, but I didn't like the beginning at all. Brooke was good, but not wow. I threw her a lot of votes because I really don't want her to leave.

Were the background singers really loud again in DC's performance in anyone else's broadcast. It was awful here. I can't wait to hear the studio version because it almost sounded as if he was singing to a back track. The only thing David needs to work on is his lower register. Otherwise, he's got it in spades.

I really liked Jason as well tonight. They were my top two. I liked all the guys better than all the girls and was disappointed in Brooke's piano playing. I think it really threw her off.

I am loving tonight however b/c I am a HUGE Mariah fan. I stopped by Sam's this morning to pick up the new album, which is great!!!

I'm a huge Mariah fan, too. I got my CD at Best Buy this afternoon.

This was the first week in a LONG time in which I knew every song that was sung.

David A. - When You Believe - never really cared for this song. Mariah and Whitney deserved a better song than this. David sounded like he always does.

Carly - Without You - a cover of a cover. I think in vocal ability, she's the closest to Mariah, which actually hurts her b/c she's not quite there. That's how I felt about this - good, but not quite there.

Syesha - Vanishing - This is the song that a lot of diehard Mariah fans absolutely love. I thought she did a really good job. It was a complete imitation of Mariah's version, but since most people have never heard it, it was okay to do that.

Brooke - Hero - I really liked the stripped down version even though it was funny to hear her completely sidestep the big notes in Mariah's version.

Kristy - Forever - don't really remember too much. I think it was good, but nothing to write home about.

David C- Always Be My Baby - Ahh, the stalker song. This song is still the jam, so it was really hard to hear him completely change it. I'm sure it was good, but it's hard to hear b/c I kept thinking that he was messing it up.

Jason - I Don't Wanna Cry - love this song, too. No Jason isn't the best vocalist there, but I thought he did a great job connecting to the song. Plus, I have the hugest crush on him.

Overall, not the disaster that I thought it had the potential to be.

Wow. My puppy must've been totally distracting me, because I didn't like anyone tonight, and y'all thought David C. rocked it.

I need to go back and listen to it I guess, because he's my favorite.

What does everyone think about Mariah theme tonight??

I learned tonight that I really don't know alot of Mariah songs.

My favorites tonight were David C. and Jason. I thought they both did great! Jason shows such emotion when he sings!
I think Syesha will be gone tomorrow.

I don't have prozac running through my veins but I pretty much liked everyone tonight. That surprises me because I don't like Mariah at all. I did fast forward through the end of Brooke and only half listened to Jason. I can't stand him.

Obviously David Cook was the best but even some of the contestants I don't usually like did well.

Here's my take on tonight:

David A - Did Mariah actually listen to his falsetto before she suggested he go that route?
He's a talented kid, but does anyone else feel like he picks the same song over and over?

Carly - I thought she was pretty good, but I also understand the judges comments about her holding back. At least she didn't go all angry on us.

Syesha - I feel like I say the same thing about her almost every week. She can definitely sing, I'm just not connecting with her performances.
Vanishing was a risky song choice IMO just because I think it would be a fitting going home song, kwim?

Brooke - I like Brooke, but I'm worried for her after tonight. Unfortunately I think the missed notes really threw the rest of her performance off.

Kristy - She gets my vote for most improved. I thought she turned in another solid performance.

David Cook - I have a hard time relating to all the he's so HOT posts; I find him more quirky than hot, just not my type I guess.
But I thought he absolutely had the best performance of the night.

Jason - This far into the competition you'd think I would have made up my mind about who I like and who I dont... but I'm still on the fence with him. He's just sooo laid back. I totally get the coffee house or beach luau performer comments from the judges.
