American Idol Thread

Everytime someone good gets the boot early, talk around here turns to "it's better not to win" and the comparison of winners vs. non-winners in sales, etc. I think we can all agree that winning is not relevant to the ultimate success of these people.

HOWEVER....the fact remains that we have - what - 5 more weeks of this show and I will have to watch it without MJ in it. And THAT right there....that is what sux. I don't get all bent out of shape about whether or not someone wins....I just want them to stick around so I can keep seeing them; simple as that.

I decided last night that I don't really want to watch anymore, but I'm too nosy and still love Jason and David C. I guess I have to deal with it to support my "guys"... but the show itself has totally lost me.

I am looking forward to the tour, though, for the first time I'll want to see more than one person!

My dd and I went last year for the first time, it was a blast! Now of course, I've set a precedent, and she expects to go again. Lucky for her, I am dying to see Jason perform in person LOL! Hearing Jordin, Melinda and Lakisha perform live last year was wonderful!

So, I wonder what MJ did (if anything) to p-off the decision makers of the show? He hadn't been in the bottom 3 at all...now he's suddenly gone? Knowing what a large fan base he has, something just stinks.

my DH believes the call-in vote thing is just a scam - that the idol producers know exactly who they want to win and the votes don't count - but again, DH doesn't trust many people....

Because I believe they base it on the busy signals, but they still make the final decision. I don't waste my time on anything except maybe this BOARD!!

That night I got more "Sorry, all circuits are busy" than I ever did, this is why I question the decision.

And as for your first question, HECK to the YEAH. Always will. American Idol makes deals with outside sources to support their clients. They make sure there is a good mix to pull in all or most tastes. They weed off the "cannon fodder" in due time. What I mean by DUE time is they make a marketing decision for the tour and their supporters.

They could care less about their audience. That's set in stone. They sit in a war room discussing the next move to make the next cut based on all factors. In the meantime they just string us along.

I watch to be entertained. But I've been in this business long enough to be wary and suspicious.

I think that with all the countries that have an Idol competition and for the number of years that the show has existed, if the fix was in, it would have been exposed by now.

I imagine he's relieved that he doesn't have to sing the lame song that AI picks for you ("Do I Make You Proud", "A Moment Like This", etc.)! Good luck to MJ.

I think she looked great, and I loved the song- but I already liked that song.

I also finally watched the whole Idol Gives Back thing, and while yes, Miley looks like she's going into convulsions with her dance moves, I honestly didn't find it inappropriate.
