American Idol Season 9 Thread

Hi everyone. I thought Idol would come on at 9 tonight. I had to finish a paper and we had our dog put to sleep, so it was a sad night.

I'm not surprised by any of them who left. Except the girl with the dark hair...I'm a bit surprised she left but other than that none of them shocked me.

Thank you everyone. I knew it was time but it doesn't make me feel any better about the decision.

I'm doing ok now. I cried my tears. Just have to keep going.

I think he had much more potential and deserved a chance to show us what he could do.

I agree!! I think he has a great personality too...funny about showing up for rehearsal in his spa robe! That was too much!! At least he took it and ran with it!

I wish we had another week to see his stuff!

Tyler - his vocals were not good but he actually GAVE a performance and used the stage. So glad the Nunes guy is gone.

I'm really surprised Tyler was kicked off, thought for sure Tim would be one of them. Here's to hoping next week is a better one, can't be much worse; right???

I was so shocked that Janelle went home. She was one of my faves. I didn't think she was the worst.

This batch of guys is pretty awful so I was surprised that Tyler was voted out on the first week. At least he was interesting.

I looked at Dial Idol yesterday and it looked like they would ALL be kicked off except for Katie and Andrew Crystal got a few votes but the rest of them show up as not getting any .

I agree about all of them going home! This is the first season I had no feelings for any of them. I am really hoping this group gets better. Even the judges are lacking.

I'm not really surprised about any of them going home. Very few people have really stood out after Hollywood week and no one jumped out of the pack this week. I actually forgot to watch the show last night because the singing this week was that unmemorable.

I am going to stop watching IDOL for this season. None of the contestants are engaging for me to spend my Tues and Wed. nights. Of the men, I thought Joe Munoz (the guy that got kicked off), was the most promising. Now there is nobody else. I don't want to see street singers with their guitars on stage singing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" for the 1000th time.

If there is anyone that is going to make it to the end its probably going to be Katie Price (?) not sure of her name, the 17 year old with the long brown hair.

Here is my thought, with Simon leaving, the show is going to lose all credibility. The other judges, while entertaining, really are not qualified for the job. I think this is the shows way of bringing down ratings and using that as part of the excuse to cancel the show next season or the season after. I find it very, very, very hard to believe that out of probably over 200,000 people that tried out that these are the best they could find.

Actually AI has had many "off" seasons, where all the contestants are just average.

Does anyone remember in Season 1 of AI, there was a constestant named RJ Helton. He was good looking and had a great voice, but according to Simon was no better than a boy bander. Evertime RJ tried to take Simon's criticsm to heart, Simon would berate him and berate him for no reason. Simon was so mean to him and this kid never said a bad word about Simon but took it like a man. I believe this is what Brian Dunkelman (the original co-host of AI) was referring to when he described the abuses on the show. I'll never forget how Simon abused and humiliated RJ Helton in Season 1.

I think so too, and I think Simon is really not being his usual self. I hate Ellen on the show, she offers nothing more than what the other judges are saying. She also feels the need to interject some sort of humor anytime she speaks, drives me crazy. Once Simon is off, I doubt I'll watch.

But Kelly Clarkson was season 1 winner--she was at least good. There isn't anyone this year that stands out, at ALL.

He *used to say what people are thinking. Lately (for the past 2-3 seasons) he has been waaay off.
