But Kelly Clarkson was season 1 winner--she was at least good. There isn't anyone this year that stands out, at ALL.

True but she improved each week. She was one of those that didn't stand out in the beginning, at least for me. I remember that it was about halfway through the season when I began to take notice of her.

Actually AI has had many "off" seasons, where all the contestants are just average....

I'm not surprised by any of them who left. Except the girl with the dark hair...I'm a bit surprised she left but other than that none of them shocked me.

....I disagree....on Tuesday, when she sang (I believe that she was 2nd..) immediately I thought that she was going home....I kind of liked her, but I knew she didn't do well that night.... ...on the flip side, the surprises that SHOULD have gone home and are livng to see another week will eventually go home anyway....

I think Simon is trying to sabotage the show. All we will remember is this awful season and it will make his first season of his new show seem all that much more exciting.

While this season looks bad at this point, I'm not willing to pass final judgement yet. It is kind of disturbing to think that people can be so easily swayed but I think AI is able to polish up contestants in some cases and convince the viewing public to see talent where it might not really exist. They are masters at PR and manipulating people. It will be interesting to see who begins to get notice out of this group. That is except for Casey - he already has our attention.

I think they have their faves and they will work hard at making them what they feel America wants. They tried REAL hard last year with Megan Joy and the year before with Carly Smithson and David Archuleta. In the end, people like David Cook will show their stuff along the way and they can't ignore it. We'll see who they will showboat this year.

It's not hard to guess, they usually get the "pimp" last spot. This time it backfired on them. Garcia got blasted after Loverboy, it was like watching Danny Devito follow up behind Johnny Depp...

apparently ALEX was the one who let a bad word slip, but only because he was excited/shocked by the outcome.

Does anyone remember in Season 1 of AI, there was a constestant named RJ Helton. He was good looking and had a great voice, but according to Simon was no better than a boy bander. Evertime RJ tried to take Simon's criticsm to heart, Simon would berate him and berate him for no reason. Simon was so mean to him and this kid never said a bad word about Simon but took it like a man. I believe this is what Brian Dunkelman (the original co-host of AI) was referring to when he described the abuses on the show. I'll never forget how Simon abused and humiliated RJ Helton in Season 1.

he's nowhere NEAR as bad as Nigel Lithgoe on SYTYCD. he sets his sights on one contestant every year(it's usually a male) and he talks so much smack to him until he gets voted off, no matter if the performance was good or not.

I feel like the producers are really pimping Katie. If I had to put money on it, I'd say Top 3 will include Katie and Didi. Andrew is teetering the brink of being seen as a one-trick pony. He needs to step it up next week.

They were talking to him on either CNN or MSNBC...he is OK. Said he screaming earthquake at the top of his lungs in the hotel hallway once he got to his doorway..a little panicked he said. So he is OK..just was a bit shook up at the time.
