American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

::yes:: i can't tell you how many times last year I sat down on results night prepared to say goodbye to Elliott, since DialIdol was predicting him to go, just to have him stick around. They are not always correct.

yeah it also said Ace was going to leave in the first week. PLEASE! with that edition of FF he did?? there's no way.

and same with Chris. it said he was in the lead that week that he left.

Sanjay reminds me of Donny Osmond and Rudy reminds me of Scott Baio.

Favorties from last night were Blake and Chris S.

Phil kinda reminds me of a mix between Lurch and Uncle Fester.

I love to follow this Thread. Is it a spoiler thread? If not could we please keep Dial Idol off of it. If it is a spoiler thread I will not follow this year. Man that will be a bummer as I love Robin, Lil Irish, Ducklite, and a few others commentaries. I usually agree with Robin the most though sorry. Including tonight. Blake was good and Chris S. the rest I could care less who goes home. I hope the girls do better.

Hey! Thanks!

I just saw Sundance's audition on the news. NOW I remember why I liked him! He's gone WAY downhill since!!

Rudy: A good singer, but just too dorky.
Brandon: I really wanted to like him, but his nerves got the better of him tonight. Bad song choice, too.
Sundance: I am so over Sundance. I don't care how good his audition was, he was awful in Hollywood week, and last night was a new low. Time for him to go.
Paul : Needs to stop thinking about his feet and go home. Didn't like this performance at all.
Chris Richardson: I liked this performance - the bouncing got a little distracting, but he sang well.
Nick : Ok singing, pretty boring, though.
Blake: Best of the night. Brilliant song choice. This guy has real talent and smarts.
Sanjaya: My choice for snoozefest of the night.
Chris Sligh: Another very good performance - maybe not great, but very good.
Jared : Bad song choice, and another victim to his nerves, but I think he's got potential if he can find his own voice.
AJ: Good enough job, but he just doesn't do it for me.
Phil: I really liked this guy in auditions and in Hollywood week, so I was horrified at the start of his song, but he pulled it once he got going.

I'm new to this. When do we find out the results of last nights voting?

So much anticipation.. So little Pizazz. :( OK, nerves ruled the night but the song choices for the most part were horrid. Two brighter glimmers saved what could have been a dull two hours.

Rudy Carenas
I was calling him marbles mouth about 30 seconds into Free Ride. DICTION please! What he lacked in talent, he made up for in screaming. And let's not forget those notes that were sharp enough to cut glass. Because he was first, never an enviable position, I cut him a break. He got a 4 on my 1-10 scale.

Brandon Rogers
He sang Rock with You. I like the tone of his voice and the guy had some nice moves but, like nearly everyone else, he seemed very nervous. Still, he was an improvement over Rudy and he got a 6.

Sundance Head
Now there are people who get into the top 12 who have a bad night after several performances that are good. This guy had an OK audition and has been just down right bad during his other two appearances. Tonight's Nights in White Satin was terrible. Pitchy to the point of pain. Flatter than a pancake, oh lordy, he was just bad. He gets a 2 and I think he only got that much because I was in shock.

Paul Kim
Another one I had high hopes for really did not deliver. These kids need to find their range and stick to it. I mean maybe there were dogs all over America who could hear the beginning of this song but it was so low I missed most of it. Then he tried to compensate by going off the scale in the other direction. No, it just didn't work. Another one copping a 2.

Chris Richardson
He kind of lost me by picking a song (I Don't Want To Be) that Bo Bice sang during season 4. That was the year I started watching AI and Bo has been my favorite Idol so far. He sang that song and sang it better. But if I could get over this guy's weird presentation, the song itself was done fairly well. He was a bit pitchy but there may be hope for him. He got a 5. It would have been higher if not for the unusual stage presence.

Nick Pedro
I really wanted to like this guy. He's from Taunton, MA. His rendition of Now and Forever was a bit pitchy but I sided with Simon on him. Not the best but certainly has potential. Funny night, I sided with Simon on every single contestant. :confused3 Nick will hopefully step it up next week if he gets though. He gets a 7.

Blake Lewis
At last we were going to get to hear beat boxer Blake sing. Could he? Why, yes he could. He did break one of my top 10 music commandments... Thou shalt sing no falsetto... but I was OK with that. While the song he performed was unfamiliar to me, I found his presentation perfect for his vocal range. He has wonderful tone and a pleasant stage presence. Plus he's a little hottie! :rotfl: Blake made everyone who came before look like amateurs. He got a 9.

Sanjaya Malakar
The baby of this group was suffering from painful stage presence. I finally shut my eyes to just take in the beauty of his wonderful voice. I don't know if it will be enough though. He got a 7. I was probably still flying from Blake's performance when I gave him that.

Chris Sligh
At last, the one I'd been waiting for. I didn't know the song and I understood what Simon was saying about a school performance. Remember, there are a lot of people who will be voting who simply don't know and don't care about some of the current, on the edge music that's out there. At any rate, when he was just plain singing, the chills set in again. I don't know what part of my brain that voice of his hits but I'd like to bottle this stuff. He got a 9 from me but with a better song, it would have been a 10.

Jared Cotter
Ah, the babe of the year. My oh my, he is a handsome guy but I digress. He'll do better if he doesn't push his voice too hard. When he wasn't straining, the music was nice. I think he'll be around for a while. He got a 7.

A.J. Tabaldo
Things started out OK but fell into a Las Vegas show type performance before too long. For most, when you get too showy, you're covering up your lack of skills. I just plain didn't enjoy his number. He got a 6.

Phil Stacey
Here's another guy I really wanted to like. The whole missing the baby's birth thing was a major AWWWW. He was so far off at the beginning of Could not ask for more, he nearly got muted. But some how, some way he managed to pull it together. Needs some work of his stage presence or lack of but he gets an 8 for his major comeback.

Who I voted for:
Blake - A lot!
Chris S. - A lot!
Phil - A few times.

Who I think should go home:
Sundance and Sanjaya (he's just not ready for this)

Who I think WILL go home:
Sundance
AJ

As always... JMHO! :teeth:

Does anyone have spoilers of what the girls are singing tonight? I know last year, somone here was privvy to that and I'd love to find out beforehand who is singing what?

I haven't read all the posts, but I LOVE Blake! He was smart too, he showed he could sing. AND has an excellent voice.

According to USA Today the Idol alum coming back tonight is (and yes, I'll make this a spoiler in white just in case ;)) Fantasia. She's also going to promote her new role in The Color Purple on Broadway.

I can't find any spoilers yet. I'll check back later. Though, for the guys, the only spoiler they came up with before the show was Phil's song. I'll let you know if I see anything.

Well I can't quote your little tidbit cause it would show up...but I have to say I am NOT looking forward to that if it is true.

Hmmm.... would not have guessed that alum, I would have guessed Chris, with the announcement of "Home" being this year's "Bad Day."

Last night was putrid. I thoguht a majority of the guys were awful and quite boring. And what was up with almost everyone trying to hit falsetto notes? Especially when only one of them (Jared? too bad he was boring otherwise) didn't make my ears bleed.

Anyway, only two guys last night were any good in my opinion, Chris Sligh (not surprised), and Blake (very surprised).

Would like to see the following leave: Paul, AJ, Sanjaya.

Hmmm. Nothing too much to get excited about yet. This season is getting off to a really slow start for me. My favourites were probably the Chris's.

Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know' is one of my family's favorite songs, it's even my DD's phone ringtone, so as soon as Blake started singing it and sang it well, that got our vote. Chris S was the only other one we voted for.

Several, like Brandon, Chris R. and Nick, underwhelmed me in these particular performances, but should definitely stay. The four I think should be sent home pronto are Sanjaya, Rudy, Sundance and Paul Kim - they were terrible!

Watching Chris R. made me quite seasick.

Hoping the girls will be better, but based on what we've heard from them so far, I'm not going to be too optimistic.

I'm going to be away and miss Tonight and thursday's show, but I'm already predicting Antonella Barba to get booted this week.

Cool, thanks in advance!!

It was a dissapointing night all around. I guess I will not be going to the concert this year after the show wraps since I am not excited about ANY of the contestants. It looks like the year of Fantasia again...barf!

I voted for Blake, Chris R and Chris S and Phil.

:lmao:

........you know what's sad?? i have that edition of Weekly World News......

but i SWEAR i have a good excuse why. the tv show i watch did a spoof in that magazine, so i bought the one edition. and now you are free to mock me.

Don't feel bad. There's a musical about Batboy, and I've seen it. Four times.

It is amazing that these men are the supposedly the best from the thousands upon thousands that auditioned.

So far, Blake is really the only one that impressed me. I though Phil was O.K., and I liked Chris S. until he got snippy with Simon. If these contestants want to be taken seriously, they need to be able to take the criticism and work with it, and not come across like some poor sport 5th grader.

I want to send Paul Kim some shoes and ask him to please put them on, and I want to send Sundance an electric razor.
