Yea, Careless Whisper. On the way to school, it came on the radio and I said to DS, "see, that's how it's supposed to sound."

I hope the girls do better tonight and I'm not looking forward to the AI alum can't stand her. I'm just ready for it to go back down to two nights a week, it's throwing me off schudele.

did they get to choose their own songs last night?

and was is the deal with spoilers...what are we allowed to post and not post? We've always done the posting as you watch bit and Dial Idol isn't really a spoiler as I didn't think they got each week correct last year did they?

They did get to choose their own songs last night.

And as far as spoilers (RE: song selection/DialIdol) on this thread go...I think the consensus is to put them in white and then "roundaboutly" talk about them. I think that's what we did most of the time last year, too. Personally, I don't care at all. I believe that someone started a spoiler thread which I'm sure many of us will post on, too, but I think that last year, we were discrete enough to talk about them on here as well.

Well, a lot of people don't think they are the best. For the last several seasons, there have been accusations that the producers pick a certain person they want to win during the Hollywood auditions, and then eliminate anyone who might be good enough to beat them.

So the contestants consist of one or two favorites, and a bunch of mediocre people that are sure to lose.

Man, that sounds like the truth to me... they totally lost me last night.

I don't post here as often as some of you, but I wanted to add my two cents. For the rounds up to the the final 12 I always pick my top 6 to vote for, it can change of course but I vote for 6 each night. My top 6 last night were:

Blake: I thought he sounded like he could be on the radio and I would instantly know it was him. He had a distinctive voice and right now he is my front-runner.

Chris S: He had me from the beginning so it's part sentimental and part that I really enjoyed his performance.

AJ: He's a hometown boy, from the next town over so there is a lot of local support. Plus, he was good!

Phil: Another sentimental fave that I liked from the start. I thought he started bad but ended great.

Nick: I enjoyed him, I think he is nice enough and the whole "Vote for Pedro" thing made me laugh.

Brandon: I voted for him because I think he is better than what we saw last night. It was hard to pick a #6 because I wasn't blown away by any of them.

As for the others, I was disapointed in Sundance and Paul, and really sad for Sanjaya. It was such a boring song for him. My picks to go are Sundance (which I am so sad about) and Rudy because I just can't remember much about his performance or him.

I was so disappointed last night. What's with all this talk about strategy? Is Ryan Seacrest auditioning to replace Jeff Probst? The only strategy they should have is to sing really well.

I liked Chris Richardson probably the best, followed by Blake only because he messed up several times on the song. Chris surprised me because I really didn't remember him at all from the auditions, but I think he has star potential.

Blake is the only one at the moment who really strikes me as someone who knows what kind of music they want to do. The last two seasons have featured more singers who know what kind of music they like and what they want to sing (the rockers, the country singers, etc.). This year it seems like they are all just "good" singers (and some of them not even that - can someone sign me up on the Send Sudance Home petition?). I think this must have been a conscious decision because the producers think they can market a winner better that way. Look at McPhee from last year - a good singer that they played around with until they came up with a certain type of pop people liked her to sing.

I think you could really tell that Chris Sligh is used to performing live on stage. It was a nice change from the "soulfully sing into the camera as it rotates around me" performance.

And while we're signing petitions, can we start a "Put a hat on Phil's shiny bald head" one?

My pick for the top 6 boys: Blake, Brandon, Chris R., Chris S., Paul and Rudy. I might put in Sanjaya over Rudy if he makes it through this week and picks a better song (stop listening to your big sister - there's a reason she's not there anymore!)

Hopefully the girls will bring it, or this season may have me tuning out.

Check out the new signature!

love love it! you inspired me to change mine too.
i dont' really get the name "Blaker Girls" though. doesn't really have the ring of "Claymates" or "Soul Patrol", does it? (I never liked "Yaminions" either. It made me think of onions, I hate onions!)

LOL, on the American Idol boards they're going nuts trying to find names...

I think the name should include guys, too, like the Soul Patrol did.

Besides, I haven't been a ""girl"" in a century....:cutie:

I was quite disapointed last as well,
I do like blake and chris s and brandon though. Brandon looks so much like my cousin Jon, My mom was like "he looks like Brandon"(Jon's brother) and I then said that I was thinking he looked like Jon. Its just weird when a stranger resembles somebody you know.

Maybe last season was just so good im having a hard time getting used to this bunch, I hope it gets better

I think someone mentioned this.

Separated at birth...
