I was so disappointed last night. What's with all this talk about strategy? Is Ryan Seacrest auditioning to replace Jeff Probst? The only strategy they should have is to sing really well.
I liked Chris Richardson probably the best, followed by Blake only because he messed up several times on the song. Chris surprised me because I really didn't remember him at all from the auditions, but I think he has star potential.
Blake is the only one at the moment who really strikes me as someone who knows what kind of music they want to do. The last two seasons have featured more singers who know what kind of music they like and what they want to sing (the rockers, the country singers, etc.). This year it seems like they are all just "good" singers (and some of them not even that - can someone sign me up on the Send Sudance Home petition?). I think this must have been a conscious decision because the producers think they can market a winner better that way. Look at McPhee from last year - a good singer that they played around with until they came up with a certain type of pop people liked her to sing.
I think you could really tell that Chris Sligh is used to performing live on stage. It was a nice change from the "soulfully sing into the camera as it rotates around me" performance.
And while we're signing petitions, can we start a "Put a hat on Phil's shiny bald head" one?
My pick for the top 6 boys: Blake, Brandon, Chris R., Chris S., Paul and Rudy. I might put in Sanjaya over Rudy if he makes it through this week and picks a better song (stop listening to your big sister - there's a reason she's not there anymore!)
Hopefully the girls will bring it, or this season may have me tuning out.
