American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

Gina - I kind of like Gina, but I thought she did pretty poorly last night. I think she's possibly in danger of going home.

Alaina - I'm not sure what I thought of this performance. She put some feeling into it, but she just doesn't have that (here I go again with the same word) "spark". She's a pretty girl, but her attitude with the judges wasn't the best and I like someone that can take cricism well.

LaKisha - - Good performance. Not as great as last week, but come on...the song last week was an amazing song. She can't perform like that every week. Still in my top 2.

Melinda - Most definitely the best performance last night (maybe all season). She is wonderful. Wonderful voice and great stage presence. A big ol' 10.

Antonella - I was really pulling for Antonella. I've felt badly for her lately with the pictures and crap. But she sang horribly. She has natural ability, but she needs some serious training. And her eye roll at Randy completely turned me off. And her Jennifer Hudson comment showed me how immature she is. I doubt she'll get voted off but we can hope, right?

Jordin - Love this girl. She has such a great personality that shines through when she sings. Big sparks. She didn't do great last night...there were lots of moments where she was off. But I do think the emotion got to her.

Stephanie - This was another performance that I wasn't sure what I thought of. I don't really know Beyonce songs so I was a bit confused as to the timing and all. I think Stephanie performed it pretty well and the girl has something. I'm just not a huge fan.

Leslie - I thought this was ok. I don't think she's nearly as psycho as I first thought she was in the auditions. I'm afraid she'll be going home though.

Haley - I probably will be in the minority here, but I really liked Haley's performance. It was totally different from last week. We know the girl can sing (albeit it's more broadwayish than idolish). I loved it even though it didn't show off her singing ability. I thought the judges were way too harsh.

Sabrina - Loved Sabrina last week, but this song wasn't nearly as good. She did ok.

Have a great 1st trip...i remember my 1st trip...we ran from here to there to try and see everything...I was so tired and overstimulated I was irritable....it took 2 trips to learn to relax and just enjoy the surroundings and take it all in....enjoy

Me too.....I am really just sick of Paula and Randy....Paula is just too nice to these people without offereing anything to help them...oh you look nice, oh I love you, oh I need more vodka nd pain pills.....SHUT UP PAULA.....and Randy I dont think Randy is a real person....I think he is a audioanomatronic(sp) that is on a vocal loop...he says the same stuff over and over....i wanna take a gun to my head when him and Paula speak....

LOL I said the same thing about Randy last night. He just says the same stupid crap over and over. And you always know that he's going to say something negative if he starts with, "You know what I liked about that?". Paula actually sounded a little more coherent last night.

And did anyone else LOVE Simon's comment about Leslie's scatting reminding him of Paula talking? And then he said, "Blahblahblah blah blah". Loved it!! And even Paula thought it was funny

I was completely UNDER-whelmed last night. A few managed to be entertaining but, once again, I felt like there were really only 6 contestants and that the other four were clones forming a conglomerate.

I scored them as follows 4 - 2 - 2 - 3 - 3 The show could do us all a favor and eliminate them as a group so we could get back to the entertainment.

Gina Glocksen: She sang Alone. I was never a Carrie fan and watching her sing this was uncomfortable. Listening to her was not. Gina, on the other hand, voice wise, couldn't hold a candle to Carrie's performance. The end of the number was really sharp and I do mean really. Several of my cats ran out of the room. I gave her a 6.

Lakisha Jones: I feel that I'd be entertained if this girl came out and sang the yellow pages. While I enjoyed her version of Midnight Train to Georgia, I found her a bit reserved in her presentation. I liked her vocals better but Paris' performance last year was way more fun. Still, over all, a solid song for her. She got a 9.

Melinda Doolittle: I'd like to see this girl dance. During Sundance's song the other night you could see her mooovin to the music. Great rendition of My Funny Valentine. She was just a bit off in places but I love the tone of her voice and when she really lets go (which she should do more often), there is a flash of excellence. She gets an 8.

Jordin Sparks: She sang Reflection, a song that was done by a contestant (the girl from Boston) last year. While I thought the Boston girl did it better, I really have no complaints about Jordin's version. I think her emotions got the better of her in parts as I found her delivery somewhat breathless and just a bit off. Not her best but I think she'll see another week. She got a 6.

Sabrina Sloan: The biggest problem with trying to critique her performance is, I didn't know the song she sang. It appeared that she nailed it. There's no doubt this girl can sing but I'm hoping she'll stick to songs that are more main stream in the coming weeks. Pleasant to look at and with a voice that just won't quit... I gave her an 8.

I am so sick of the judges cutting each other off and not letting each other speak. Like Simon has said, everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion.

PS: I sure hope Gina goes home tonight. I just do NOT like that girl! Haven't since early in the audition process. Don't know what it is, something is just not "clicking"....

Possibly her attitude. I don't think she's a horrible singer, but her "I really am a great singer" attitude turns me off at times.

I loved Lakisha and Melinda, they really are great singers and will hopefully make it to the final too.
I thought Antonella was the worst one, but like others have said, I don't think she'll be voted off this week I thought her comment to Simon was really uncalled for when she said he got rid of Jennifer Hudson and look where she is now. I know Simon explained that it wasn't him, it was the American public, but he should have added that she was no Jennifer Hudson. The only thing I give her credit for is for holding her head up high after everything that's been going on. I can't imagine it's been easy for her having to deal with all of this and then go on to sing.

DAN, what pictures did you take out? It looks like some are gone, but I can't remember who is not there anymore. I think it might be, because they all look alike
