Different how, in that most anytown USA household they tend to look down at rap and what it consists of?

Blake is not that great of a beatboxer......sure on AI he is different, but he cannot sinf with the best of them....sure he sounds different now, but a CD filled with beatboxing is not different.

Anyone know the name Rahzel? hello, he was sighned to sprite or 7-up (forgot which one), did commerecials for them, he was on Men In Black 3, etc....IT'S BEEN DONE!

It's done everyday, lok on street corners in every urban block! IT'S BEING DONE AND BEING DONE BETTER THAN BLAKE!


I am sorry but thatsaying of Blake must win because he's different just doesn't flky with me....that just shows me who turns there noses at some of the outside world without giving it a chance.

If those that say Blake is different have ever thought to give some rap a chance they would know he is no different, and I will even say not that good.

So in a singing competition you have a male singer who is medicore at best but gets through because he's different doing something thats been around for years?

Okay...you are wrong in so many ways... Once again, someone compares Blake to "rapping"...I have never ONCE heard Blake rap...beat boxing its a different entity. "My name is Blake and I'm here to say...I like rapping in a major way...." yeah, right...If Blake ever rapped, I would stop being a fan.

I agree that He's not doing something entirely different than things people have heard before , but, I believe, people say he is "different" they mean that he is different for American Idol.

Whether you like it or not.... despite the fact that its a "singing" competition, A male vocalist that has a mediocre voice and a schtick has actually won before....look at Taylor Hicks... Kathryn McPhee blew him away vocally, but everyone LOVED Taylor because he was a PERFORMER. Same with Blake.
Everyone may say that this is a "singing" competition. I disagree...its so much more than that.
p.s. Blake was the only one who looked like they were having a good time last night!!!!

I'm not a Melinda fan, so I would really like the final 2 to be Jordin (love her!) and Blake (who I think did a great job last night!). Was I the only one that noticed Melinda flub one of the first lines on her last song? I just watched it (I had it DVR'd) so I rewound it and watched it again. It was like she knew that she messed up because she looked sheepish and looked away. And I never like when they "resing" a song they have performed before...

no my favorite is when he doesn't even beatbox and people still say "OMG HE LIKE...BEATBOXED, LIKE AGAIN. OMG LIKE, DO SOMETHING NEW!" when he doesn't beatbox everytime. "beatboxing" is what he did during the Bon Jovi song(which, ironically, everyone loved) but when he just harmonizes with his voice with no lyrics, that's not BEATBOXING!! it's harmonizing.....and i thought people watched this because it was a "singing" competition?? you'd know the difference, really.

i have to agree, with Taylor as well. granted, i only hated one performer last season and he didn't make it to the finals, which made me very happy. so i liked Katherine, and i liked Taylor.....but Katherine did have a much better voice than Taylor.......but people loved Taylor because he was "different" Taylor definatly was NOT better than most of the people who made it in the top 5. but he was very well loved by his fans because he just seemed to be a great performer and to be having a lot of fun......just like Blake is doing right now.

i agree, the girls lastnight looked as bored as i was trying to watch them. honestly......i like Jordin better than Melinda. Melinda's voice really doesn't WOW me. Jordin's voice gives me a WOW every once in a while, and Blake almost ALWAYS gives me a WOW just with the things he does with the songs, and even some of his vocals are good. Melinda is just boring to watch. very much a back-up singer, like she's been doing. nothing wrong with that, because it's what she's used to. i just wish one of her performances were memorable to me.....but honestly.....i don't remember many of them. did she even sing during Bon Jovi week?

she definatly did mess up part of the song, someone else mentioned it lastnight, too. and i noticed. and then she called Randy.....Randy Johnson.....instead of Randy Jackson


but you have to remember, she's the judge favorite. so it's gonna be tough for her to not impress them. and you DO realize that they can do pretty much what the want with this show, right?? just because they SAY that your vote counts, doesn't mean a darn thing. they can fix the competition however they want. i'm telling you.....they were the ones to get rid of Sanjaya....not the "public" (and no i'm not a Fanjaya, i'm just sayin....even tho i really didn't have a problem with him).

i don't really like her style, much, either. i think i figured it out, she reminds me of Macy Gray....and i HATE Macy Gray.

funny how they don't call her on it AT ALL. considering this IS the semi-finals....you really think they'd mention "this is NOT the time to mess up a song"

plus she didn't even hit one of the high notes, it sounded awful. i was surprised they didn't mention that, either.

i don't have the clip again to go look at it. but she looked like she meant "Johnson", she didn't look like she was "joking" but maybe it's just how i saw it.

she was a bit snippy. she kept trying to talk and i'm like "shut up!!! you're done singing already!" lol.
