There's confident and then there's cocky. I think Gideon came across too much as the latter. It's too bad, because he does have a great voice.

Yep..that did hurt him. It seemed like he toned it down once they got to Hollywood, but it was too late. Initial impressions can make/break them as well.

As for the voting.

When you call the 1-866 # its free.

If you do text voting then it depends on your calling plan with Cingular.

If you don't have any text plan on your account then you will be charged .10 cents each time you vote.

But they have plans where you can have unlimited text messages or so many messages for so much money.

But the only ones who can use text message are those with the Cingular cell phones.

I forgot who said that it seemed that the other guys in the competition didn't like Taylor so I apologize in advance. (Had a lot of reading to catch up on!)

Anyway, it's funny that you say that because I see completely the different thing. I was thinking last night that it looked like Taylor was quite popular with just about all the contestants.

I know that he and Bucky are definately close. They must be roommates or something. You can always see them off in the background together goofing around, and a lot of those times Chris is back there with them. To me, I see the three of them joined at the hip most of the times throughout the show.

When he did the head rub thing to Chris, I thought it was more of an inside joke between friends than a "I can't stand you, don't touch me" thing. I know some people that joke around with bald friends rubbing their heads "for good luck"

Taylor really seems close to Lisa too. I just get the vibe from him that he is like the big brother to all of them. Kind of like Bo said last year since he was the oldest of the bunch - that he kind of took on the older brother personna.

I've been reading all the posts since last night and I don't think this will be a popular comment but . . .

I like Kellie. I don't think she's acting at all.

I live in the Carolinas and I've got family and friends in some very rural parts of the southern U.S., I know sweet people who have lived in a very small "world", you won't find calamari on too many menus in their area and I think you wouldn't even find a lot of salmon! Nor many people using the phrase "saucy minx". Not a lot of opportunity or money floating around. Not many advantages to be had. This is the sort of "world" I see Kellie coming from.

Actually I think Kellie is pretty outgoing and friendly considering what's happened in her life. She could have easily ended up bitter and negative. I know some of y'all will say she's got me snowed but I guess I can relate to where I think she's coming from.

And I don't think she vamps any more than some of the other girls. Katherine certainly has some "looks" down and I like her too, beautiful girl with a beautiful voice.

Just my 2 cents. Maybe I'm just partial to the Carolina people, Chris is great too! Bucky is growing on me. Taylor isn't from the Carolinas but I love his style - he just seems so into it and enjoying himself so much. And Ace, though not even southern, is just so pretty

Jessica Sierra not only deserved to make it into the top 12, but she dserved to have made it further than 10th place. Jessica was fantastic and got shafted because she wasn't one of the chosen ones. Melissa does remind me a bit of her, which is funny sicne they are both Tampa girls.

I agree completely. Jessica had a terrific voice. I loved her performance of "Total Eclipse of the Heart". It was one of the very best performances last season. But you're right about her not being one of the chosen. Remember Simon saying that for whatever reason she didn't have the likability factor. Couldn't be because of comments like that, could it? I was really glad that Melissa made it to the top 12 just because of Simon's "pack your bags" comment. I thought Melissa had a very good performance on Tuesday night. It's not easy to do a Heart song justice when you've got Ann Wilson to live up to and I think she did really well.

I wonder what the stylists are going to do with little Kevin??? Should be interesting next week to see any makeovers!!!

I can't wait to see what they can do for Elliott. Great voice but he certainly needs some style help.

Taylor and Elliott appear as obvious 1 & 2 to me. Taylor has unique sound that is impossible to not want to listen to, he's also a spirited performer. Elliott has the best voice I've heard in years and can put some life into the currently terrible soul genre. These are the only two whose CDs I'd consider buying, and that to me is what I think of when I vote.

The only two others who come close to me are Mandisa and Chris. Mandisa is pretty good, but doesn't excite me or anything. Chris has a great rock voice, but the type of music he performs is everywhere and he would simply add to the oversaturation.

Ace has an average voice, comes off as a wimp and is only getting by on looks, please vote him off. However, Kevin is by far the worst. How in the world is he still there? Please please please get rid of him. It's an absolute joke that Gedeon was voted off before him. Gedeon wasn't cocky, he was just always smiling and a very outspoken happy religious person.

Ok, take everything I said about Jessica and it applies to Kim Caldwell too. I also liked her a lot!!!

But, I can see a Melissa/Jessica comparison, but I can't really see a Melissa/Caldwell comparison as much.

I think Chris already IS a looker...and it's funny, he is SO not my type but he's AWESOME and I think he's hot!

Never underestimate the power of a pretty boy with an average voice. There are lots of big stars out there with exactly that. This is a popularity contest, after all. Hardly a singing competition.

Ayla (spelling?) should have made it! I thought her voice was better than some that stayed. Also, what seems to irk me most about AI is the fact that Simon gets ignored and thought after as useless and ignorant. IMHO, Simon knows more about what he is talking about than Randy or Paula. When he tries to give wise advice, they (the other judges and Ryan) wave their hands at him. I say, Let Him Speak! lol. Also, I suppose to Paula, everyone is just perfect in every way! lol.

I agree! She had a voice but had no showmanship in my opinion. Taylor and Chris are great to WATCH. That is a big part of it. I think Lisa has the best voice vocally out of the girls, however she needs more showmanship also. I think they also have to be entertaining. Mandisa is entertaining!

CHRIS I'd love to do something from Live — that's my favorite band.
TAYLOR ''Georgia on My Mind.'' If they have a Ray Charles night, I would definitely be into that.

I want to see Taylor do Georgia on my mind. Live with Chris would be great as well. I think that Bucky should do some Seager but not sure if he's a cleared artist. I think Bucky whom I like will go home this week due to the Stevie Wonder theme. I would love to see some more contempory music sung this year. I love the fact that Elliott who some on this board has made fun of for his teeth would change them but says they are apart of him and he has mixed feelings. I have horrible teeth. I was born this way. It is well over 10,000 dollars to fix them so I want them all pulled and false teeth put in. My dentist refuses. They only want to do painful and years worth of work. So I am glad that I am not the only one feeling like teeth are a hard thing to accept or to leave alone.
