I don't care if Chris is singing cover-songs, the alphabet, or the phone book...he is still the best performer/artist in the entire group. Deal with it dudes! He never claimed he arranged the song himself, he said it was a different version (sure he didn't correct them when they said he made it his own, but none of you would either).

Why is everyone saying Mandisa won't win this?

She is this season's Ruben IMO. Ruben was flawless week after week, and I am seeing that, so far, Mandisa, week after week seems to be the stand out.

Yes, I thought for sure Ruben's size would eventually knock him out, but he went all the way, and you can debate Ruben vs. Clay all you want, but Ruben got the votes to name him the winner. The votes were there! It proved to Simon that people don't care what a person's size or look is, if they can sing, people will love them!

So far, Mandisa has not been in the bottom anything, and it does not look like she will be, for a very long time, so why won't she win? I think she IS going to win.

I agree with a lot you have said, even though I personally like Chris the best and I was a Clay fan.

Mandisa continues to impress me week after week. I thought she looked so pretty last night. And wow - what pipes!! Great song choice.

The contest is far from over; it's still too early to say just who's going to win. But I would sure like to see Mandisa in the top three, along with Chris and Katharine. I made sure to vote lots of times for Mandisa last night to keep her in the competition.

Paris has a voice, but she's too young yet and not mainstream (and I can't get past when Ryan asked her if it felt good to be sitting in the safe seats and she yelled "IT DO!"). With the exception of Kevin, I think any of the remaining contestants could get a contract and sell records, or be successful in some form of the industry.

DH thinks this show is just a big free press junket for Paris. With her family's awesome contacts and history, she has the potential to make it big, and it's much easier to say "that girl from AI" when someone asks who Paris Bennett is than "some girl whose grandma was in Sounds of Blackness." She has an incredible voice for her age and this show will help her go far faster than she probably could do on her own with just a recording contract and a manager.

That said, I'm on the Taylor Hicks Soul Patrol. He's just so good, and so is Chris Daughtry. DH said "I'd buy that..." after he sang last night. And coming from a guy who hates reality TV, that's saying something.

We also thought Katherine looked like Catherine Zeta-Jones last night...she's not a pop star ––*but she could do REALLY well on Broadway. She has that practiced voice.

OK, after lurking on this thread for too long, here are my thoughts on last night's performance:

Mandisa - I thought it started off really shakey and ended up pretty strong, bordering on yelling though. Not her best performance but definitely worthy of making the final 4 or 5.

Bucky - One word: karaoke. His lack of showmanship and vocal range really showed tonight. Some of the others performances really made his look bad. He needs to go.

Paris - I'm not a fan but she did a pretty good job. She looked great and ended the song well. I don't like how she already did Fever in Hollywood though.

Katharine - Love her expressions and how she is having fun with each performance. She nailed this song, one of the best of the night. I don't think she will win, however, because I believe that females don't like her for some reason. She does need some fashion help!

Chris - Could he be any more of a clone? Straight cover band singer as shown by his lack of originality with anything he's done so far. He's in serious trouble when the week comes up where he is unable to find an alternative band's cover of a themed song.

Taylor - Love watching Taylor perform but it was a little repetitive tonight. He said the same thing over and over and it got a little boring. But, I'd pay to see him based off of his energy and style.

Lisa - zzzzzzz. How can someone who can sing so good and has been a performer before do so poorly on stage? Song selection was bad tonight and she is just boring each week. No personality what-so-ever.

Kevin - Please. He has no right to still be on the stage performing. The cute kid schtick is over and it's time to seperate the real performers/singers from the rest of the pack. Hoping he or Bucky goes home this week.

Elliot - I love this guys voice but he definitely as to stick to one genre to make it work. Tonight was a little shakey for me but enough to advance on. He needs to have a 'wow' performance within the next two weeks.

Kellie - Love Kellie but who the heck did her makeup?? She is naturally cute and doesn't need the rosey barbie doll treatment. I like her country style voice and thought this performance was really good. I am growing tired of her "Jessica Simpson" cluelessness/stupidity routine though and I think it's really starting to hurt her chances.

Ace - Obviously still around on looks only. He only has one style/range and needs to go join the nearest boy band.

While I love the diversity of this years cast and think it's one of the strongest ever on AI, I can't say that I see another Kelly Clarkson type in the group (as far as becoming successful). I think this years winner will quickly follow the Ruben/Fantasia road to obscurity.

I do have a newfound respect for Barry Manilow though! He is a brilliant musician who seems like he can do anything with a song.

Me too. Barry seemed to genuinely want to create the best arrangements for the Idol contestants. He said that if people stopped buying his music and performing wasn't an option anymore, then he would love to do arranging for the rest of his life. He'd be wonderful at it, that's for sure - he has a real passion for the details.

I was really impressed with last night's show. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of songs from the 50s, but everyone did well.
I think the bottom three will be Bucky, Lisa and Kevin (although I wish Kellie), with Lisa going home.

His speech about why he was singing Walk the Line melted my heart. That is was song Cash wrote for his wife and how he would stay faithful on the road. Chris just seems like a real sweet, down to earth, nice guy.
Plus he looked HOT in his all black outfit

I will admit last night was NOT one of Bucky's best performances but it wasn't that bad either - I just downloaded it and re-listened to it and I thought it was ok - he was in tune and sounded like Bucky.

If Kevin didn't get sent home last week after BOMBING so badly I don't think Bucky should go home this week - his other performances have been right on.

No, I don't think Bucky will make it to the end but I want to see him on the tour and those left after tonight will be on the tour.

Why don't the entire FINAL 12 get to tour????????

I didn't care for most of last night's performances, but really didn't like Bucky and Lisa. I don't think it'll kill the Buckster, though, but Lisa should've known that she had to step it up this week. She seems to have lost her spark, big time.

I couldn't believe when Ryan questioned Kellie about something and she just got this BLANK look and scratched her head.... oG someone PLEASE delete this woman!!!!!!!

Don't care for Chris, I guess the same way some of you don't care for Paris, he just does not do it for me. I guess I get reruns of Rock Star:INXS ....

Bucky was the only one I voted for last night. He's not the best singer, and it was pretty bad last night - but I don't want to see him get eliminated just yet! I think Lisa will go tonight. I want it to be and it should be Kevin, but I've given up on wishing for that.

As for Chris, I thought he rocked, and I was so impressed with what he did with the song. Then I heard about how he copied Live's cover of it, and then I listened to the Live version. It's almost identical, and I'm not as impressed anymore. A little love lost there.

I guess I'll step into that fire right with you. I'm not a huge fan of Elliott at all, I don't care for Kevin but thought he did good last night & I don't care for Bucky. Taylor - I could take him or leave him. He doesn't do much for me.

I actually like Lisa, unlike others, but I don't think she'll go all the way.

My favorites are still Mandisa & Chris & I'd like to see them in the end.
