The best singer to me ? ? ? Barry Manilow

I wasn't going to say it - it was way too easy. Though, technically, he's not the best singer - but he IS the best performer...hands down.

I'm glad people are realizing that this man is so much more than "Copacabana" and "Mandy". He has been referred to by other people in the industry as a genius...look at what he did for some of these kids in an hour's time...

I really like Chris and Katharine too...I don't care if Chris did a cover..it was still pretty darn good! I do not like Kellie and I hope Patsy forgives her for her awful rendition of "Walkin After Midnight"

ITA! I don't like Kevin at all, but if anything, he at least shows people with a lisp that they can talk and sing in front of an audience without being embarrased.

Katharine's my favorite of the bunch, with Chris and Taylor close behind (can't join you in your enthusiasm for Kellie, though). However, while my fervor for Chris and Taylor are waning, I certainly have the "McPheever" over Katharine. She's a great singer and very easy on the eyes!

My pick will always be Chris. I also like in a close 2nd Katherine. In the end I hope Chris wins. Paris will not get a vote from me. She is a good singer but cocky attitude. That ruins her for me. Chris seems very geniune. I think Lisa will be going home tonight.

BTW, I don't really get why so many people are bashing Chris for doing a version of a song that another group has already done. This has been done many times before on AI. If you think about it, what is the difference if they are doing a cover band's version or the original artist's version? It still isn't their own. Chris never stated that it was his own version, and it has been the judges, not Chris, who have consistantly alluded to him "making the song his own".

I actually wouldn't mind Jessica Simpson. She always kind of amused me on that show she and Nick had. But please not Britney!!!

Does it have to be a teen idol? I keep thinking about Gloria Estefan for some reason. When she's hosted stuff, I liked her!

ITA about Gloria Estefan. They need someone in there who the kids coming thru can look up to & try to learn from. She would be great in that role. Britney?!?!? Not exactly my idea of a role model.

Any of the Backstreet Boys?
Bruce Springsteen?

I don't think it's necessarily all about vocal talent -- it's about having the total package to become an "idol".

That said, I think Chris has the total package. Paris has a voice, but she's too young yet and not mainstream (and I can't get past when Ryan asked her if it felt good to be sitting in the safe seats and she yelled "IT DO!"). With the exception of Kevin, I think any of the remaining contestants could get a contract and sell records, or be successful in some form of the industry.

As a Backstreet Boys fan I would say Brian and AJ are as good as any of the singers that have been on AI.

Finally...someone who agrees with me!

I agree as well! The first week when it came down to Patrick and Bucky leaving, I was hoping it would be Bucky. His voice is just like too scratchy or something. I haven't enjoyed any of his performances so far and I still think that should be Will's spot. I really hope it's him that goes this week because I really like everyone else and would like to see everyone else on tour!

Chris: hot and a great performer
Katharine: beautiful and a fabulous voice
Kellie: she's like corn flakes and fresh milk. "I had me a sal-mon!"
Taylor: generally, I like him but wasn't too keen on his performance last night
Mandisa: A whole lotta woman; beautiful and a great voice
Elliot: impeccable voice but kind of goofy looking
Paris: did really well last night. I enjoyed it.
Bucky: what was with the tossing the microphone from one hand to the other? He'll be going soon.
Ace: that boy is so pretty I want him to stay just so I can look at him
Lisa: sweet girl with a really good voice. Simon was right. Her performance was kind of "high school musical" - although she sung the song very well, others really outshined her last night. I hope she stays.
