Me either but that is because I was hoping and hoping it was #9 going home finally.

I was just coming here to post that. :( Last week I was disappointed that he basically admitted that he was doing the RHCP version of the Stevie Wonder song. He seemed to take a lot of heat about that on all the Idol forums.

I was a bit happier to see that he seemed to at least make this week's choice his own until I found out that Live - which I read in one of his interviews is one of his favorite bands - did almost the same cover of the song.

He wasn't making it his own. :( He was covering another band that made it their own, he just knows better than to admit it like he did last week.

*sigh* I like Chris, I really do. He's awesome at what he does and he deserves to go far. But I don't like how he is being allowed to coast through this competition while others get ripped by the judges for doing the same thing.

I'm so disappointed that Chris' version of Walk the Line was actually done by LIVE. I used to lisen to LIVE way back when they first came out, I had no idea last night that Chris' version was NOT HIS OWN.

It's ok to do covers but don't take praise for something you did when in fact you didn't.

Bucky had an off night, I just hope he stays around another week as his goal in this competition was to make it to the final 10 so he could tour in the Summer - I hope all his fans voted enough to keep him in so he can obtain his goal.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Debrah Gibson. She has more talent.

She has aleady been a guest judge, like 2 or 3 seasons ago and we haven't seen her on AI since then. I figure if they wanted her they would have kepth her in the loop.

First of all......LOVED Barry. He's the greatest and sincerely wants to help the contestants.

Now on to my opinions:

Mandisa: Great voice and great performance. But, she brought in the screaming at the end and that turns me off a bit.

Bucky: Bucky sucked tonight. There, I said it. But, he is still one of my favorites and the only one I voted for last night since I thought he really needed it.

Paris: She did a great job and looked adorable but I still don't like her. She's just too smug for me.

Katharine: I love Katharine. I think she did a great job. I enjoy her attitude when she sings.

Chris: Wasn't my favorite tonight. I am also upset that he is ripping off other artists. I don't mind that he stays in his comfort zone since I wouldn't want to hear him try to sing like Johnny Cash but I also don't want a liar to win.

Taylor: I didn't like Taylor at all tonight. I used to think he could sing me the ABCs and I'd love it, but I was ready to turn the channel during his song tonight.

Lisa: Absolutely horrible. I think she might be going home.

Kevin: I thought Kevin did as good a job as he can, but the lisp is hard for me to tune out.

Elliott: I thought Elliott did a pretty good job tonight. And is it just me or did his teeth look a bit better?

Kellie: Get this tramp off of my television! She looked like a cross between Flashdance and Raggedy Ann. What was with those rosey cheeks? Did she put on her makeup in the dark? I think she tried extra hard to sound twangy while singing and it made her sound bizarre. I just can't stand an idiot and that's how she comes across to me.

Ace: I thought he did a good job. I'm sure we will not see him in the bottom three this week.

Pray for Bucky, he needs it this week.

Someone mentioned Gloria Estevan as a replacement for Paula...I think she would be awesome.

lillygator said:
anyone found any article on Paula's maybe getting booted?

No..nothing that I can find.

And for Eliot...I hope not..I would rather see Bucky go Bye Bye

So you all think Eliot is going? :sad1:
IMO it should be Lisa. I loved her audition and thought she would be the one to beat. Not anymore. Too bad.

Loved Kevin-yep first time since this competition started I really liked him. I loved his interview speaking of his first time to love. he will not go home.

No one really wowed me last night-maybe Mandisa but that is it. I will be interesting to see if these polls are true.

Here is the Amazon link to a clip of Live's version of I walk the line. Just scroll down the page. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/sa...l_1/104-9487328-5984762?_encoding=UTF8#disc_1

Chris's version is pretty much identical.

However, upon relistening to my taped version of Idol last night, Chris never once says that he redid the song but just that he was doing a "very different" version than Johnny Cash's version. Barry never says that they redid it, but just that he had "never heard this particular rendition of it."

LOL have to agree here. You knnow I liked her at first, but she's been seeming more and more like she has a career in doing bachelor's parties in her future!! :p

I really want to pull for Kellie. Really... I do! I like to pull for the NC contestants! But her Minnie Pearl act is getting on my nerves. Honestly, stick a straw hat with the price tag hanging off of it on her and you've got yourself a Hee Haw act. /QUOTE]

This seriously had me :rotfl2:

Ok, here's my rundown, while wondering what some of the people here have been smoking. :teeth:

Mandisa - Started the night off really well. I'll admit that I haven't been her biggest fan, just because I can't see myself buying anything that she produced, but she really impressed me last night.

Bucky - Wow. Ok, it wasn't bad, but it was a long way from great. Still think he's worlds better than the twerp or the pretty boy, but he's got a ways to go to catch the frontrunners, and I'm no longer sure he's got it in him.

Paris - THERE was the girl I remembered from her audition. Still, as I pointed out before, I don't think she's much more than a more talented Fantasia clone...and that just isn't good enough this season.

Chris - Ok, I was STUNNED by how great this performance was...until finding out that it wasn't his, but was actually a cover that Live did. Still, he did a GREAT job with that cover...just not as impressed as I was before learning that.

Katharine - Sorry, but I've got a serious crush on this girl  She is seriously :smokin: , and has a voice like an angel (and maybe even a naughty angel...lol).

Taylor - Again, sorry to those that didn't like him, but I would pay to see him perform, and enjoy every minute of it. The man is a serious talent.

Lisa - Ah, Lisa. Once again, I just don't get it. She's got SO much talent, but there is just something missing from her performances. She'll go back to be a star on Broadway, though.

Kevin - PLEASE stop with the Josh Grobin comparisons. This kid isn't worthy to carry Josh Grobin's luggage. Sure, he sings in the same style...in the way that a paper airplane is "in the same style" as an F-14 Tomcat. He REALLY needs to leave.

Elliott - To be honest, I couldn't get over the fact that his looks have improved SO much, just from a little styling (he no longer looks like a homicidal Amish guy ;) ). Not a fan of his, but good for him in improving his style.

Kellie - And THERE is the Kellie I liked way back when. :thumbsup2 I think some people must just be determined to dislike her, because she did a GREAT job with that song.

Ace - Better only than Kevin on the night. On the plus side, it's now easier to make fun of him when my wife says he's cute :teeth:

Side note: They need to get Barry as a consultant on this show. Overall, last night was awfully good (with the couple, rare exceptions) and I credit him with a lot of that. I've never been a big fan of his, but I have a lot more respect for him after watching him help the contestants with their arrangements and things last night.

My order of preference, based just on last night:

1- Kathryn
2- Chris (Was #1 until I found out about the Live thing)
3- Taylor
4- Kellie
5- Paris
6- Mandisa
7- Lisa
8- Elliott
9- Bucky
10- Ace
11- Twerp

I'll be shocked if America agrees, though. :teeth:

I'm over Chris. Seriously, it really bugs me how he is being presented as this super-original artist when it is NOT. TRUE.

Also, what's with the double standard...other contestants get reamed for staying "in the box" while Chris gets praise for it.

I totally agree

Nancy said:
OK who did her clown makeup? :clown:

:rotfl2: That is EXACTLY what DD12 said when she came out...the blush thing was a little odd. I was happy from a distance because she didn't let them Barbie her up, but then I saw that makeup up close... :sad2:

Why is everyone saying Mandisa won't win this?

She is this season's Ruben IMO. Ruben was flawless week after week, and I am seeing that, so far, Mandisa, week after week seems to be the stand out.

Yes, I thought for sure Ruben's size would eventually knock him out, but he went all the way, and you can debate Ruben vs. Clay all you want, but Ruben got the votes to name him the winner. The votes were there! It proved to Simon that people don't care what a person's size or look is, if they can sing, people will love them!

So far, Mandisa has not been in the bottom anything, and it does not look like she will be, for a very long time, so why won't she win? I think she IS going to win.

Well, all I can say is..."Thanks to whoever it was that posted that link to the Australian Idol...Callea." OMG....now I can't watch AI with an open mind. Where, oh where is the American talent like him?? But...I guess we gotta go with what we got. I have to say that I'm just not all worked up over any of the kids this year. I do like Taylor, Chris and Mandisa...even like Kevin if I close my eyes. But, none of them are really rocking my boat so to speak. We'll see how it goes tonight.

Anyone else think that Katharine looked like Catherine Zeta-Jones last night?

Paris has a good voice but I with a previous poster that she has not idea what the words mean that she is singing. She has this powerful voice but she doesn't 'feel' the song. She will be very good when she matures enough. At 17 she hasn't had the experiences to know what these songs are really, truly about.

Kevin, He was good for a high school talent show. I still don't like his voice. It grates on my nerves.

Kellie, I thought she did pretty good last night. Way better than last week.

Ace, he is pretty to look at but he is a little to sweet or something for me.

Bucky was off last night. Country music is not my thing and he is not the best singer but for some reason I like him. He is not going to make it to the end but I would like to see him a little while longer.

Taylor was just OK last night. He is still my favorite though.

Chris, he is good but can he do anything else?

Really enjoyed Mandisa.

Lisa while she has a good voice her performances are forgettable.

Twice! Umm...I also voted for Kevin..BY MISTAKE! :rolleyes2 Couldn't remember what # Taylor was. :confused3 Hope that doesn't mean Kevin will be safe, if so, blame it on me. :lmao:

I often wonder how some of today's acts would have fared on American Idol.

Eddie Vetter of Pearl Jam?
Marilyn Manson?
Ozzy?
Any of the Backstreet Boys?
Bruce Springsteen?

I don't think it's necessarily all about vocal talent -- it's about having the total package to become an "idol".

That said, I think Chris has the total package. Paris has a voice, but she's too young yet and not mainstream (and I can't get past when Ryan asked her if it felt good to be sitting in the safe seats and she yelled "IT DO!"). With the exception of Kevin, I think any of the remaining contestants could get a contract and sell records, or be successful in some form of the industry.
