American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread**

The poor kid, Everyone(not just on Dis) is bashing Kevin so much, can we just be happy for him?I know he's not the best singer in the group.
But isn't nice to see an average or maybe dorky looking kid doing well.
We all don't look like Katherine or Ace so let's see who the "average"
americans are and who they voted for.

He'll be gone within 2 weeks, let him enjoy it and be a star for awhile.


Overall I'm rooting for Chris.

It would be wonderful to see and average or dorky kid do well if he had the talent to back it up, but to see him do well out of pity or bacause little old ladies and pre-teen girls think he's so adorable isn't really fair. I hated Gideon's attitude and didn't want him to win, but, in my opinion, his vocal talent far surpassed that of Kevin and it is upsetting to me that some contestants who have more talent are being sent home because the dorky kid is so cute and amusing. The question is, will all of those people voting for him shell out the $17 to his CD if he wins?

Can't wait for tonight! I'm really enjoying this season, first because the talent overall is very good but on a personal note, I've finally gotten my husband to watch and he is totally hooked. My two sons (16 and 12) will watch with through Kellie Pickler's performance and then will suddenly get bored. I wonder what's up with that? While it's great to come here and discuss AI online, it's certainly nice to watch and comment with others.

I've been thinking about what songs everyone might sing for 50's night. I think Ace would do well on some of the Sam Cooke standards. Although I can't come up with anything specific, I'd bet that Chris will find some 50's song that was covered by a rocker in the 70's or 80's and make it his own. Am I the only person who's listening to current rock songs on the radio by artists like Three Doors Down or Staind and thinking to myself, "Gee, I wonder what Chris could do with this song?" :

I find I do that with lots of contestants. Oh, so and so could sing this song!!! Last year I kept thinking that songs were Bo songs.

Yeah I'm really excited about tonight too! On Sunday night I told dh I wish it was Tuesday, he asked why, I said so AI would be on! I need a life I guess! I think this season is the most fun to watch compared with the others.

Ok Just got my TV Guide and was really upset. They had mini bio's on Their Fab 5 Chris, Ace, Mandisa, Kellie, and Katharine. I would not list the top 5 right now as these. Instead I wanted bio's on Mandisa, Chris, Elliot, Taylor, and Bucky. Katharine I can see going far though. I know that Bucky and Elliot aren't everyones choice. I was so excited to see AI in TV Guide and then to not have Taylor especially in the mix was kind of a let down. What's all ya'lls take on this. Anyone else get a TV Guide and feel the same way?

As for the TV guide..I guess that is their picks. The only one I would take out is Kellie and replace her with Taylor.


My 2 favorite days of the week are Tuesday and Thursday (Thursday is the day my store puts out all the new gossip magazines)

I know, what I'm saying is that IF down the road these happen to be the top 5 how would I feel??? I would feel that it's all planned out ahead of time.

I really see Kellie as much more of a comedian and TV personality than a singer...but maybe that's just me. And

Ace...well...I loved him at first, but he's getting on my nerves now. LOL, I think that's what happened with every pretty boy I ever went out with!

I posted the TV Guide info and that is their top 5 not THE top 5. They were wrong about Lisa Rinna on Dancing with the Stars. I was just disappointed that Taylor and Elliot didn't make their top 5 and we didn't get a mini bio. I think that all coverage is just icing on the cake but it does help. Sorry if I confused anyone.
