I really didn't like Kat's rendition of this song.... and I LOVE this song. She did try to make it her own but ... I don't know. I didn't feel it.

I so agree with Clive about her not having a recognizable voice.

Well Taylor sang 2 lines and My oldest son of 9 looks at me and says dad he is good...I said he sure is son....He is the best one in the competition tonight...although I dont think he sang as good as I had hoped

Eh, it was okay. kinda boring for a Taylor performance.

Taylor was phenomenal (and did I mention that I'm not "watching" the performances at the moment...just recording and playing on the computer...Can't "watch" until DW and DD get home from gymnastics ) ! Easily the best of the bunch so far, even with a fairly boring song.

Round 1 rankings: Taylor, Kat (not by much), Elliott.

Still sticking with my prediction: Taylor and Kat in the finale.

That was probably one of the best songs for Taylor but he needs to loosen up and let the song fly.

Elliott #1 - "Open Arms" - Nothing special...then again, I don't think anything he does is really special. He's good, but not great.

Kat #1 - "I Believe I Can Fly" - I appreciated the fact that she "made it her known" and pegged it right away that the judges would say that she failed at it because she "made it her own." Personally, I liked it...and Randy and Paula have never really liked Kat, so it doesn't bother me that they didn't like it. That being said, she kinda messed up the ending.

Taylor #1 - "Dancing in the Dark" - I like Taylor, but that was pretty bad. Can't stand Springsteen and I liked Springsteen's better.

Winner - Round 1 - Kat
Loser - Round 1 - Taylor (sorry)

I thought the same thing....she sounded like a bullfrog when she talked...that may have had an effect tonight....she was not as powerful as usual....crap 3 Elliott songs....

DD5 stopped playing with her Cinderella & other princess dolls to get up and dance around the room when Taylor started singing.

And loved his Southern gentleman response to Clive. The only one that doesn't seem super nervous tonight, too!
