wow!! I loved Chris. He was such a good performer and so true to him self. He is doing this to better his family and his wife was so behind him!! I had a feeling that Kat would stay due to the drama effect!! Now the Chris fans will split between Elliot and Taylor . They sure won't vote for Kat. I missed last night due to another committment but will be glued and dialing next week!! I thought Chris would easily be in the final two!!! He will do just fine without the title.

I am in denial that Chris is gone. Other than Taylor I have no reason to watch the show anymore. CAn someone explain why Chris is better off without the title?

Chris is better off NOT winning because he would have been forced to put out a pop record as his first album. The AI team would have changed his style. Now he's free to sign his own record deal and put out his own record. There's no doubt he'll be snapped up in a second. He was already offered a lead singer position halfway through AI.

For the same reasons, I think Taylor might be better off not winning as well though I think it's a foregone conclusion at this point.

I am SO SHOCKED. Poor Chris!! He looked devastated. I hope he signs a HUGE record deal and has the last laugh. AI just won't be the same without him.

Chris has pretty much been one of my least favorites the entire competition. And plus he was pretty much "the chosen one" to win this one, so I'm ecstatic Chris is gone.

This paves the way for a Taylor victory.

As far as Chris being better off, I don't think so. He'll have to wait out his Idol contract before he can sign with anyone else. People said Tamyra, Constantine etc... were better off and where are they now?

The American Idol left tonight.

No point watching any more. At least I won't have to switch back and forth between Lost and AI. I was actually looking forward to next week too because I wouldn't have to choose between AI performance night and Gilmore Girls. Now, I have nothing to watch next Tuesday.

Anyone know what else is on Tuesdays at 8pm??

I agree that Chris is probably better off not winning, and I do think he will be one of the most successful "non-winners" (right up there with Clay). But, having said that,

I hope he makes an album soon!

OMG - I just came in from watching. I am in total shock, but both Chris and Simon looked like they couldn't believe what just happened. I would definitely go to see Chris, but Kat, no way!

Actually, I read a few weeks back in TV Guide that Constantine is currently doing a pilot with ABC for a tv show loosely based on his life as a singer. That sounds pretty good to me. As far as Tamyra - before my time - just started watching last year

I am sooooo mad I could scream !!!!!! How in the he$$ did Katherine get more votes than Chris. I'm just livid! She should've got the boot tonight. UGHHH!! This show sucks!! Every season we are in for a surprise. Even season 1, when Tamarya got the boot over Nikki and Justin. No contest. I hope Taylor wins it all. I don't even want to watch the finale now. I'm too thru!!! I hope American Idol's ratings drop after this catastrophe!!! What a freakin joke !

The last update I read on Constantine said that he has a sitcom coming out. Not sure when though.

Oh God. I think I'm going to be sick. HOW did Chris get voted off?? I mean I KNOW that America isn't the education capitol of the world, but I didn't think Americans were stupid. *sigh*...

My only hope is that Taylor wins (which it appears he will, having never been at the bottom of the voting food chain). If he doesn't win, it'll be another Rueben/Fantasia year...you know...pointless.

I'm not worried about Chris. His career in music is limitless. You could see Simon, Tommy Mottola and Clive all SALIVATING over him and the prospect of producing his music. I think Chris will outsell any Idol thusfar. I'm disappointed that he won't win. He deserved it. He has more talent in his big toe than Kat or Elliot. I'm so bitter right now! Elliot...what a joke! It's like Anthony making it to the final 3 last year. He's just out of his league!

Kat, somebody up there must really like you for you to have avoided elimination.

The ONLY reason I will continue watching the show now is for Taylor.

I don't think the results tonight were fixed. Both sites that give results of the voting (whether measuring busy signals or supposedly the actual totals) had Chris as having the least amount of votes.

He probably fell victim to what hurt Constantine - too many people assumedhe was safe and didn't vote for him as much as the other people with rabid fanbases

Exactly. I wasn't surprised to see him go. This happens every year. Chris is better off wothout the show now, and I do think he was looking a bit bored with the whole thing.

I loved when he sang (woohoo, Sabres just won in OT!!!!) Love Me Tender, I think he was singing that to his wife, you could just see the emotion in his eyes. It was my teary moment of the night.

I agree with you 100% - I just don't get it....
I have never liked an AI contestant as much as Chris. Mark my words - I bet Chris will be more successful than the other 3 left.
I hope he comes out with a CD as soon as he can! I will be first in line to buy it!
