agreed...LOL....

Seriously...I think some people are just sensitive....I dont think there has been too much bashing...just alot of stressing opinions....I havent meant to personally attack someone except once but they called me ignorant first...other than that just disagreement....whats a little discussion among friends....If you cant disagree with friends who can you disagree with?....

I think this thread has been really tame in comparison to past years!!! Lots of bantering going on but not really any bashing. Good reality tv fun.

I didn't recognize either of Elliott's song's, so I listened to clips of themon CDNOW. I think the 2nd song (don't want to give away any spoilers) would work better for Taylor, I can't really see Elliott singing it, but maybe he will surprise.
BTW, a few people have said they don't like "In the Ghetto"; it's probably one of my favorite Elvis songs! then again, I'm a sucker for a sad song. ;)

Song choices:

Elliott - Trouble & If I Can Dream

Chris - Suspicious Minds & A Little Less Conversation

Kat - Hound Dog & Can't Help Falling in Love

Taylor - Jailhouse Rock & In the Ghetto

Thank you for posting those! I've always been a big Elvis fan and I'm glad to see that at least some of the choices are just a little bit "out of the box."

I think the three guys will do very well with most of those selections. Elliott's first choice is more a Taylor song though, IMO (and others here too.)

For me, Katharine's choices  We shall see...

I can't remember where to find biographical information on the contestants, but wasn't one of them a vocal major from Boston Conservatory? I'm thinking it's Katharine (my choice for AI). DS wants whoever the one from Boston Conservatory to win, I think, because it shows total devotion to their chosen field (at least from his perspective) to have studied it in college. The truth is he's majoring in jazz performance and if that person from Boston Conservatory wins, it will give him encouragement! So anyone know who it is?

My AI connection
My son works for the man that owns the car service that the Idols and the Presleys used for their time in Memphis,
He had to wash, and detail the cars used.
Thats as close as we came to seeing any of them. as we all had to work.. :(

Yes, it is Katharine.

Glad you feel that way, Damo, as I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. Just adamantly defending my position that Elliott is the worst singer on the face of the earth. ;)

It's just talk about a fantasy show, folks...don't take it so seriously :teeth:

You're KIDDING right?????

Nope, not in the least. I've really liked some of Taylor's performances but not one single one would I say showed more soul than anyone else's good performances.

I think it is because when Taylor is "feeling" a song he cracks me up. I can't take this guy seriously. I like Taylor best when he is being goofy, just because I think he is a performer and not a singer.

Part of the reason may be :bored: I'm still watching but if we could get the Yankees/Red Sox game here tonight, I'd be channel flippin. That never would have happened last year.

I'm confused... what the HEck do you consider SOUL????

Soul is a genre, not a passion or a feeling. It's a combination of R&B and gospel and it is performed more than just sung. A soul singer sings from his gut and emotes a song like a gospel singer. Taylor does that, he is a SOUL singer, not just a guy singing from his soul. In that case you can call anyone a "soul singer"..... Leann Rimes or even Andrea Bocelli would fall in that category... NOT.

Chris, I guess, is a rock singer, Kat and Elliot both do R&B very well but none of them are "soul" singers. Believe me if Taylor tried and failed I'd be all over him like a bad rash but he does it and he does it well....

If that were really true, he wouldn't be in the top 4 now would he?

(Just adamantly defending my position that Elliott is the best male vocal in AI) :thumbsup2

Taylor is up first! Yeah Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go!
