I am doing my best to introduce Kalan to the USA, one person at a time!!! Kalan's album which comes out this summer will be promoted in the US. His first album was produced in about six weeks (you know, the crappy idol version) and although it was okay, it certainly didn't show Kalan off at all.

He is 21 in November, so you dont' have to feel like a perv! He certainly is camera friendly and had all of Canada in love with him. With Canadian Idol, just the winner does a tour and he was totally sold out throughout the country. We are anxiously awaiting for this new album that he has been working on for the past year. Hopefully, there will be some good stuff on it. He also is an amazing violin player and we should hear some of that incorporated into his rock stuff. He's a good kid and should be around for a while.

This performance, is IMHO, the best group performance ever and brings tears to my eyes to watch it. To have the contestants all featured on an instrument as well as vocally sure brought a new dimension to the show. These six performers were all absolutely amazing.

O MY GOSH!!! I hate to say it, but they put American Idol to shame!!! WOW! Is there a tape or DVD of that season of Canadian Idol for sale? I would love to see the whole season.

Damo - that was awesome! Thanks for sharing. I hadn't listened to Kalan before and was so surprised how deep and soothing his voice is. I expected it to be more boy bandish, I guess.

I had never heard that song before but it also touched a "chord" in me.........since I had a lot of Irish immigrant ancestors who came over to the US to work on the railroads.

I was a little worried that keyboard girl might pop out of her shirt though. (just keeping it real lol)

Here is a page with a lot of the videos. Kalan, Theresa and Jacob were the final three. Jacob Hoggard is the lead singer of the band Hedley. They have signed a US contract so you should hear from them soon. He is a wild and crazy guy and had a huge following (as you can see in the clip below when he sticks his wet finger into the host's ear).

Dean was interviewed by Kiss 95.9. Check out both interviews posted on the site. He had some interesting things to say about the Top 7 and 8.

According to Dean, during the Top 8 Results show, Elliott was "horrified". Apparently, he knew he would have to sing that night. However, the contestants had no idea they'd be seeing film clips of their loved ones that night. When Ryan asked each of the Bottom 3 to sing, the reaction was, "Are you kidding me? I have to sing now?"
Who Dean loves more after seeing their family video packages: Katharine and Elliott.
Who Dean loves on the show: Elliott, Katharine and Taylor
Dean on Taylor: "He's hysterical to work on...like if I put his bangs down, he puts them back up. He does the exact opposite of what I do."
Dean thinks if Chris got booted tomorrow, he'd still have a successful career. He thinks he's a pretty nice guy, but obviously doesn't spend much time with him.
Dean's nightmare final two: Ace and Kellie. Said Dean, "Go ahead and shoot us now".
Dean on Ace: "He's just weird" He agreed with the DJ that Ace was "creepy" That "Constantine didn't take himself seriously, this one does." And that Ace is "contrived." Dean had no kind words for Ace. Dean on Kellie: He thinks she really is stupid. "She does so many ridiculous things, you can't even imagine."
Ford sends a stylist over to do the contestant's hair for the car commercials. They cut Taylor's hair, much to Dean's annoyance.
Dean on Paris: She likes to try something new every week.
Dean on Bucky: He liked when he wore a hat. He really hated that Bucky shaved his hair underneath. The DJ called the hairdo "trailer trash."
Dean on the competition, "It's a big ole' popularity contest."
Dean swears the Bottom 3 is strictly calculated on votes. "It's all for real".

Where do these hairstylists get off bashing the contestants?!?!? You don't even hear the judges commenting on character like that. No one on the show should be allowed to comment that someone is stupid or nasty or whatever until the show is over. I think he should be fired.

I personally think it is a bit of sour grapes on the part of "Dean". I read somewhere (not sure where at this point) that Ace would not use the stylists from AI. He picked his own clothes and wouldn't let them fix his hair. Maybe Dean is a bit put out because he couldn't get his hands on Ace?

I just listened to Kalan Porter--wow--His voice is awesome!! I loved his Gorden Lightfoot song--I actually felt like I was back in HS looking at him, he is just so cute!! I am sure that any HS or JH girl is "in love" with him!!

He sang one of my favorite songs--I Can Only Imagine--in the finale. What a beautiful version of that song!!

Keep us posted when his CD comes out!!
