My take on this week's performances:
Taylor -
Country Roads - Ok, it's impossible for me to be impartial when he is singing that song (see my signature), so let me just say that I have now definitively determined that Taylor is what the child would look like if Jay Leno and George Clooney were able to have a baby together.
Mandisa -
Any Man of Mine -

Umm...yeah, that was REALLY bad. When Shania sings that song, it's got a certain sexiness to it (and that's just in her
voice), and that was
totally missing from this "performance". Not sure if it will result in her being booted, but it was definitely one of the worst of the night.
Elliott -
If Tomorrow Never Comes - Ok, this is another one I'm going to have a hard time being impartial about, since it's one of my favorite songs ever, but in my honest opinion, he
completely butchered it. I wasn't a fan of his before, but now I'm actively hoping he gets booted just for doing that to a truly beautiful song.
Paris -
How Do I Live Without You - I'm partial to the LeeAnn Rymes version as opposed to the Trisha Yearwood rendition, but I still think Paris did a pretty decent job. Probably the best of the night to this point. Also, her look was really good this week...she should stick with that. Also, I can TOTALLY see Simon's comment about Deion Warwick, but cracked up when he didn't get the "applause" he thought he would for that comment (just too young of an audience

)
Ace -
Tonight I Wanna Cry - Not a big Ace fan, but he did pretty good with an excellent song choice. Still, people talk about Chris being a one-trick-pony, but I've yet to see pretty boy here do anything but whine into the camera song after song. Wouldn't mind seeing him gone, even though he did do a decent job with this Keith Urban song.
Kellie -
Fancy - Actually, I thought Kellie did an excellent job with this, which surprised me a little. Reba has such a distinct sound that anyone else singing her stuff usually comes off as a pale imitation, but I thought she pulled it off pretty well. (Oh, and one little note...I am willing to bet that there are fewer than 3 restraunts within a 100 mile radius of where Kellie lives that actually serve calamari...so maybe you guys could lighten up on the oh-so-superior attitudes just a little

)
Chris -
Memories of Us - Nice, but not the Chris I like best. He could have still shown his versatility with a slightly more uptempo song. But he did at least show that he has quite a bit of talent, which should shut up some of the detractors (though it probably won't).
Katherine -
You Bring Out the Elvis in Me - If it weren't so corny, I would have to admit to a serious case of "McPheever"

Between the sultry sound of her voice and the smokin' hot looks...Besides, I figure her fan base was out in force on the phone lines last night. I know that 'cause I think I was able to get through about twice for her after calling quite a few times.
Bucky -
The Best I Ever Had - Could have done a helluva lot better, and
did do better with a country song just last week. Not my favorite performance from him, and for the first time
I actually thought he was mumbling through some of the lyrics. Still think he's got a lot of potential, but he's got to keep improving.
