Rumoured Clive choices:
Kat is "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"
For Taylor is "Hurt so Good"

I haven't heard and rumours for Elliott yet.

I'm confused...are they singing 3 songs each? I hope so! :thumbsup2

I wish they wouldn't make Kat sing balads. That is NOT wear she excels. She is better with jazzy, bluesy numbers.

Yes three songs each. Judge's choice, Clive's choice and their own choice.

Yes, Kalan Porter won--his voice is AMAZING! Not only can he sing ballads, but he can rock! Didn't he do a fabulous 'Born to be Wild?' or the Stones 'Satisfaction'?

The top 6 from that particular series, IMHO were just incredible. That was probably my fav idol series ever.

I remember the night they did Gordon Lightfoot theme and I thought it would be a yawner. All of them played instruments on that show and the way they sang the songs gave me chills. What a talented bunch! I wish I had taped it!

(sorry to get off topic...)

I'd love to see Elliott and Taylor in the final 2!

That group performance is here (Kalan is shown playing the violin): http://www.redhottopic.com/media/clay/video/Group190804.wmv

I can't get the Kalan Porter song link to work for me. So I'll have to take your word for it that he is terrific!

Hey, did anyone watch World Idol when it was on a couple years back? I loved that guy who won, I think he was from Norway. He was awesome. Another guy on that show that I liked was the Australian Idol with the crazy spiky hair. He sang "What a Wonderful World" and he really made that song his own. I loved it, but the judges didn't care for it so much!

That would be cool if they did a World Idol each year so we could hear all the idols from each country.

I wish they'd let them play instruments on AI; even if only for one show. That would be very entertaining.

For Elliott fans - here is a link to an article about his homecoming yesterday here. It was a zoo around town. Lauri said she saw several cars with "Vote for Elliott" signs on them on her way home last night.

Elliott's Homecoming
Thanks for the link to the article. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading it :) I'm happy for Elliott.

This item did peak my interest though:

An estimated 4,000 fanatics crammed around the James Center plaza for Yamin's lunchtime appearance. The cheering throng, packs who were lined along the roofs of nearby parking decks and office buildings, waved signs reading "Elliott Go to Prom With Me," "Virginia is for Elliott Lovers" and, quite specific to Richmond, "Name the bear Elliott."
What bear? Care to share with us non-Richmond folk what that's all about? :confused3 Thanks.

I think he might be on Ellen Monday! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I just checked Ellen's website and it says he'll be there on Tuesday, I'll watch both days just to be sure. :thumbsup2

Has anyone been to the Idol concerts in the past and do all the idols usually show up? I'd hope they would all appear at this one since it's only the second concert (the one in Worcester at the DCU Center). Of course Ticketmaster isn't showing this concert on the list of dates, but when I check the DCU Center's website they say that Ticketmaster will be selling the tickets. :confused3 Nothing is ever easy. ;)

I read about that. Matt or Laurie may have to come along and elaborate or correct my errors though.

Around the first of the year a child stuck his hand in the bear enclosure at a local park and was bitten. Both of the bears were killed, apparently to test for rabies. Seems that didn't sit too well with some folks. I don't know all the details there and will leave the political stuff for the locals.

But I understand they recently got a new bear for the enclosure and are having a contest to name it.

Ahh..the bear story. Yet another shining light for Richmond (insert dripping sarcasm here..lol)

Here's the story. This happened back in early March I believe.

We have a park outside of the downtown area of Richmond called Maymont park. Beautiful place, lots of gardens, a historic mansion and also a wildlife reserve that has things like buffalo, deer and we also had 2 9 yr old black bears that were adopted as abandoned cubs named Baby and Buster.

Well, there was this lady who took her 4 yr old to the park one Saturday and unfortunatly, as some parents do - paid zero attention to what her child was doing. He got went over the fence that keeps you away from the bear enclosure (the bears are in a big area that is bounded by a tall chainlink fence) - Anyway, he went up to the chainlink fence and stuck his hand through with an apple to "feed the bear". The bear, when it took the apple from the child, bit him (not to be mean, but I guess a bear's eye mouth perception ain't the best thing) It wasn't a tragic bite - just barely broke skin.

This is where Richmond is divided - accident? Did the child really get away from the woman while she wasn't looking - she says she turned away 3 seconds - kid must be Flash Gordon..lol? Or did this lady purposely bring the child with apples and let him feed the bears? (Which is the story that was told in the ER by her - which by the way she waited 4 hours to take her child to  )

Anyway - she waits until Monday or Tuesday to report it to the park wildlife officials. I'm not 100% clear on the story but apparently they said there was 2 choices - since there was no way to tell which bear bit the boy, the child could have Rabies shots or they could euthenize both bears (kind of Richmond mascots mind you so you can see where this is going) and test them for Rabies.

Well apparently the woman never called them back until AFTER they put the bears down on Thursday and then says "Oh, I'm too late? I didn't want the bears killed. We were going to take the shots.

Of course neither of these tame bears had Rabies. The community mourned the loss of the 2 bears they watched grow up. It was chaos. The Mayor was royally ticked - I think he's in the camp that the lady actually brought the child there with apples and lifted him over the fence to feed the bears and it wasn't the first time she did it. I'm in that camp too since there are holes in her story you could drive a truck through.

So.. anyway - the park just recently aquired a young cub that was orphaned. Right now his name is Tim (after Governor Tim Kaine) but they will be holding a contest for the children to pick a new name for our new bear. They are still looking for another one to replace the second bear.

So.. that is the story behind "Name the bear Elliott" :)

Obi-Wan,
Thanks for taking the time to write up the whole story letting us know what that's all about. Let us know if they do name the bear after Elliott. That would be pretty cool.

OTOH, I feel bad for the bears :sad2: That woman sounds pretty wacky. I can see how people in Richmond would be upset.

It's funny - after I posted the link I thought "someone is going to ask about naming the bear Elliott" and I just got home and there it was! :rotfl:

From what I heard from someone that was in the emergency room at the same time as the little boy - the mother and her boyfriend are definite whack jobs. Apparently she kept saying that the bear never bit them before when they would bring him apples to eat. Yet when the authorities get a hold of the story it changes to "I turned my back for 3 seconds".

Anyway - don't want to turn this into a debate as to whether the bears should have been killed or not. God knows Richmonders are still smarting after that one. And we had just lived down the national exposure our I-Book Stampede got. 'Bout time for us to get in the news for something else stupid. :rotfl:

They were all in Hartford last year. It was one fun concert! They were all amazing.

I have to post this after so many people posting saying they thought Simon seemed shocked at Chris's boot(a little late I know, sorry). I have no idea if anyone else has brought this up, but I thought just the opposite. When Ryan asked Simon which of the two he thought should go home, Simon responded by saying something about how it SHOULD be Katherine because her performance was the worst one(there was a definite "but" in that remark). Right away I was scared, because to me he was already hinting that Chris would be the one to go. I certainly didn't see any look of shock on Simon's face. I have no doubt he KNEW Chris was a goner.

I thought the same thing.

Not sure if this was posted yet, but there was something I found kind of funny from one of Katharine's hometown radio interviews. Supposedly Kat was asked if she was shocked she was safe, and Kat said she was a bit, but that she also thought that Chris may be leaving because of DialIdol.

Looks like the Idol's look at DI results too, I find that pretty funny.

I also really want to see a World Idol every year! It was really fun seeing all the performers from the different countries and each countries' version of Paula and Simon.
