she is the one who had tried out last year with that horrible, high vibrato. i can't remember if she made it to Hollywood last year or not. this year, she's definitely made it farther. i don't really care for her. she's just okay.

...thanks....I can't remember her from last year, either....

I felt bad about them having to tell Chris "no." He really is an amazing person for what he's been through, but unfortunately he isn't as strong a singer as many of the others. I'm glad they didn't put him through just because of his story but I can understand why it was so hard for them to tell him "no."

As for Clint, I don't care if he ends up being the best of all the guys. I will never vote for him just because of the type of person he is. That was such a jerky move that he pulled on Jaycee and no matter what kind of excuse he comes up with, it doesn't make it any better. I hope he's out quick.

I really don't understand why they had to do part of the top 24 last night and finish it up today. It would have made so much more sense to do an hour of the Beatles last night, and then make tonight 2 hours while they pick the top 24. But I guess it had "to be continued" for drama sake.

Its was a sad story but I really HATE when they feature peoples sob stories--I think it influences the way the people vote and it is supposed to be about singing, not about who has the biggest sob story!

I kind of agree with you. I think that Danny guy was good a couple seasons ago, but I wonder if he would have gotten as far as he did without the background story of his wife dying.

I think they wasted a lot of time on Ashley's joke of a wedding last night. I wonder if she will regret getting married like that, without family and friends. It seemed very impulsive to me. I also think she wasn't that talented, and I am kind of glad she's gone.

Yay for Paul McDonald, my new favorite!! My only concern was that he's a little too unique to appeal to an American Idol audience. But after reading here and seeing that others feel the same way, I feel better!

And JLo was waaaaaay more upset than Chris was at his having to leave. Am I the only one who felt that his reaction was like "whatever, that's fine" upon hearing the news? She was OVER the top. All the judges were, really.

....yup - ITA!

Anyone wanna guess who will make the wildcard spots?

I would say Holly and Chris for sure

I think the wildcards are gonna be people who are already in the top 24. I'm pretty sure it gets narrowed down to 12, and then out of the 12 who didn't make the top 12, 3 of them get to be picked as wildcards...or something to that effect.

all of the contestants who were told no handled it better than her, lol...maybe the producers ran in and told her to freak, that they were running low on the drama. I mean, the 15 year olds were far more composed than her..she was like a little kid saying "I don't wanna do this anymore" over and over, Randy trying to talk her down. Steven, well, I think he was genuine in his compassion for Chris and his Fiance', but remaining clear this is about singing. Matter of fact, last night Steven didn't have to be the ax man on tv much, maybe tonight we will see more of him giving the bad news. He is a feel good kinda guy tho, so we'll see.

Just checking into say --

I like Scotty (nice voice!) and Carson Higgins, although he might be better suited for musical theater.

At least I'll watch this season. I skipped last year because I didn't like any of the contestants. Which reminds me; did you hear that David Archuleta was dropped by his record label?

is there a top 24 spoiler list yet? on the radio they keep saying look for "the local" tonight and for the life of me, I have yet to see her name or her on tv!

If memory serves, the wildcard folks can be pulled from nearly any previous point in the competition.

I think Jennifer is just a sweet caring person and Chris's story hit her hard and it affected her profoundly. Nothing wrong with that. I would imagine while it seems cut and dry to us viewers (which J-Lo USED to be) saying no or crushing the dream of anyone, especially one with Chris's story, must be VERY very difficult. I am actually glad for the realness of the judges this year.

I agree about the judges this year. I am really liking them. I also liked how Steven did not like how Randy laughed at some of the contestants during the try outs.
I used to really feel bad for people when they would sit there and laugh at them, the ones who really thought they had a chance but were so bad they didn't even know it.

anyway.........
I was shocked Chris got cut. I didn't see that coming. I liked him.
same with Holly.
love the girl who was first in the chair, I had missed all her previous performances and when I saw that clip of her last solo, I am now a big fan.
same with the guy with the quirky flowered suit. I did not see him previously either, I really like him.

I like Paul,
Except for Frizzy kid have any of the young guns made/not made it.

I though he was the weakest of them anyway.

I am worried about Jaycee. He's adorable and I like HIM, but he really isn't good enough to make it.

I am worried about him too.
I actually thought Jennifers breakdown was going to be from cutting Jaycee.

ROBIN! you KNOW our dredhead sang it...they were playing the original version that Israel Kamakawiwo'ole did which is to me the best ever...but Jason sure did it justice. I'm pretty sure Jason sang it at Molly and Jason's (The Bachelor) wedding too. Too bad that cutie was cut, I would have enjoyed seeing him 2x's a week. Bet he has quite the following at school :lovestruc well now....I'm thinking Jacee's in for sure..I mean, knowing JuneBug/Jerkbug/bugeye glasses whatever his name is in has GOT to mean the conflict of Jacee also making it. Oh yeah, Clint..blech way to ruin a cool name

ETA: Looks like the show goes back to Tuesdays next week

I'm sorry I went BRAINdead! I heard it by Israel on Pandora and automatically loved it! Now I know why!!

I didn't see M&J's wedding, would've rather stabbed my eyes out! :lmao:

Okay I have the 24 list right in front of me and whenever I hear a voice that SHOULD make it, I find their name on the list! :thumbsup2

yes, I was reading it the whole time I watched the show last night. I hate getting reeled into a performer and they get dropped. I won't link to it but you can find it by googling "American Idol top 24".
