ROBIN! you KNOW our dredhead sang it...they were playing the original version that Israel Kamakawiwo'ole did which is to me the best ever...but Jason sure did it justice. I'm pretty sure Jason sang it at Molly and Jason's (The Bachelor) wedding too. Too bad that cutie was cut, I would have enjoyed seeing him 2x's a week. Bet he has quite the following at school well now....I'm thinking Jacee's in for sure..I mean, knowing JuneBug/Jerkbug/bugeye glasses whatever his name is in has GOT to mean the conflict of Jacee also making it. Oh yeah, Clint..blech way to ruin a cool name

So this is the one that causes her break down. Not surprised.

I KNEW Chris wasn't going through. He has been weak vocally for a while now. I do feel bad for him though. I liked him.

My only other WHEW was that Ashley got the boot. No more crack head silliness.

Sad that Chris didn't make it. From the parts they let us see, I really liked him.

JLo's breakdown was a little odd. She almost made it about her... It seemed she was more worried about what she said than about how he felt. BUT, she did make me cry. I love her as a judge.

Finally made my way over to this thread. I swore I was going to stop watching Idol once Paula left but never did and I swore the same thing when Simon left but here I am still watching. I actually like the new judges though. Except , J-Lo's metldown last night bugged me. Part of being a judge on the show is knowing that you will have to send people home!

I thought Chris should have made the top 24 based on talent! I think he is better then the guy with the glasses that went though! But, overall the talent this season has been huge! I think there are a lot of people with a shot at winning!

My personal favorites are Paul McDonald, Lauren Alaina, Robbie Rosen,Scotty McCreery, and Tim Halperin

did you watch the original try-outs? he's the one whose fiance was injured in a car accident. she had severe brain injury, but he has stuck with her. they brought her into the room and she met the judges. it was a pretty sad story.

Its was a sad story but I really HATE when they feature peoples sob stories--I think it influences the way the people vote and it is supposed to be about singing, not about who has the biggest sob story!

I DVRed and watched late last night. Overall, I was pretty impressed! Mostly everyone was really good. I was so surprised by Paul McDonald. I don't ever remember seeing him before but he's now one of my favorites! I really like the brunette Lauren too. They aren't showing her much but she has a really good voice. I'm not devastated by any of the cuts. Pretty happy with the top 24. Should be a great season...well once the live shows start, I mean.

Feel bad about Chris but jeez, JLo! She really let it get to her! She was right though...at the end of the day, it's a singing competition. I'm actually really glad they didn't put him through.

Sorry gang. Chris Medina was nowhere near talented enough to stay on. That is the bottom line for their decision to send him home (otherwise he'd still be in). I LOVED him personally, and I really connected with him and his personal story, but he just isn't good enough. Even his youtube stuff (like the song he sang to his fiance) was weak vocally.

On another note, I LOVED TIM HALPERIN! Where did he come from! Wow!

she is the one who had tried out last year with that horrible, high vibrato. i can't remember if she made it to Hollywood last year or not. this year, she's definitely made it farther. i don't really care for her. she's just okay.

i thought that they were trying to get away from the singer/songwriter vibe this year. but they've let a lot through who, to me, have that vibe.

i don't know. i don't like clint. i didn't love him at his first audition and really didn't love him after Hollywood. i'm afraid Jaycee isn't going to make it through. i like him, but i don't know that i think he is ready yet (or truly has a strong enough voice).
