Anyone else think that American coins and notes are dull? I mean, sure, they're functional, but they just aren't interesting, right?
Here in the UK ferinstance, two pound coins (about US$3) are gold with a silver centre, fivers (UK£5 notes) are blue, tenners are brown and a bit bigger, twenties are purple and bigger still and fifties are red and the largest (theory being the sizes help the blind). Each note has a watermark of the queen that shows when held to the light as well as a hologram and piccies of famous guys with lots of fancy patterns and curly words.
Similarly, Euro notes are just as interesting and Euro coins probably more so (1 coin is gold with silver centre, 2 coin is bigger and silver with a gold centre, other coins seem to be crinkle cut
). Fer goodness sakes, even the UK 50p and 20p coins are fun, being pentagonal.
Why can't US coinage be fun and functional?
Let's start a petition
[EDIT] Yes, I am aware that skeleton has one "l", I made (another) mistake...
