All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

Important note:

I just added on a fixed week at RIV for the first week in December SV studio, 135 points with the new 25 point rule at RIV you can combine a 25 point reservation to hit the 150 and get the better incentives ( and to book the preceding Saturday -- why Sunday to Sunday DVC? 🤷‍♀️ )

**** Normally you would have to pay cash for the 25 points but my guide was able to call for an exception and fold it into the fixed week for financing ***

Just wanted to put it out there that you do not have to get a Preferred week + fifty to finance. You can fold in a 25 point contact - This is new this month.
Did you get one contract that is 160 points or two separate ones at 135 and 25? The "fold in" is throwing me off.

I really think it’s luck of the draw who your sales agent is and the day you call. There should not be any difference when a FW is available. Why two months before there is none, then suddenly they can sell it? I don’t believe it’s all based on when new points are released. Even then I’ve had them decline selling a specific FW when later it was available to sell.

Most sales agents don’t have a clue how to sell a FW. Many times they have to get approval to do so. The fact that this is so variable tells me it’s more of a knowledge issue. Also, if demand is high ( as was in my case when I purchased) I don’t think the guide really wants to put in the effort.

I looked at the first two weeks in May and the first two weeks in December- they all had available fixed weeks for standard view Studios.

What resort? For Poly I don’t know. May is not a high demand FW so I’m sure there is availability. But first two weeks of December? Also I was looking for week 39 at Poly. There is/ was a lot of demand for this week. Appears it did open up but not for me back in Feb. it’s all good I have FW over Labor Day week. Next best choice.

For Riviera week 49,50 SV studios are still open. I was unable to book a SV lock off this year since SV studios sold out so fast. I ended up just grabbing a dedicated two bedroom. But for my usual studio, I figured getting week 49 is not a bad idea.

Huh. That link shows that RR does sell Tower fixed weeks. We tried (begged!) to buy one a few years ago and they said they don't sell them. I wonder when that changed.

Add it to the growing list of small things that Disney has done to annoy me over the last few years. *sigh*

AFAIK they still don't in practice, even though they list FW point values for them (at RR). We asked last summer and our guide checked every week and said none were available to purchase.

Maybe the low number available of tower studios (24) at RR compared to (39?) duos at Poly is an unfavorable balance to sell FW from? Those rooms are hard enough to get as it is, and if MS isn't always booking at the 12 month marker as many have reported, maybe they just don't want the headache of having to book alternatives when the TS are already booked up.

IIRC, the minimum buy-in for new buyers used to be 150, but has been dropped to 100. Would that explain it?
You can attach additional contracts - most RIV full studio fixed weeks do not meet 150.

They don’t sell September duo Studios on the price list for Riviera because that would be the one that would be under 100.

So your theory is very plausible.

Yes it does. This was the explanation I got from my guide. Wasn't allowed to buy a fixed week with less than 150 points even though I was already an owner. When they dropped the minimum purchase to 100 points, they opened up.

If you were already an owner, your minimum was 50. That really doesn’t make sense.

It was just new buyers that were dropped from 150 to 100.

I'm not sure if that explains it. When I bought into DVC and bought my FWs at RIV 4 years ago, the minimum was 150. The FW chart for RIV didn't even list the Tower Studios, and when I asked my guide about it, she said they weren't available as FWs. Therefore, I went with Standard View Deluxe Studios. One of my FW contracts was for 130 pts, and the other for 122 pts, so individually neither reached the 150 direct buy-in minimum. (I also added a 50pt contract to get to an incentive level.)

They could have offered Tower Studio FWs that you had to combine with some additional purchase to get to the minimum. After I bought my RIVs, I have seen an updated FW chart that listed the Tower Studios, but I don't know if anyone has actually bought one.

DVC sold us a studio FW at RR that was only 130 points. The only condition (at the time) was that we do a second smaller contract to get us over the 150 threshold.* It was def not the number of points. He specifically said they weren't selling tower rooms as fixed weeks.

*We stupidly sold our old contracts before buying Riviera and had to do a new member deal. Luckily (?) it was during covid so we got a good price. Also, that same FW at RR is now 153 points so we made out in more ways than one.
