America West Airlines

Does anybody have any opinions on America West Airlines? Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I have taken them from California to Vegas and from California to New Orleans. I liked them far better then Southwest. They have assigned seating and onboard entertainment and I believe meals.

Americawest is great. I have flown them more times then any other airline. In fact I'm a member of their frequent flyer club!

The 3 times I flew America Worst to Vegas there were mechanical delays every time, some for several hours. I wil not fly them again. On the other hnd, my cousin always had good service from them.

Not to say that I haven't had a few mechanical delays on other airlines, but not on EVERY flight like I had with America West.

America West is now part of USAir. They merged recently. I believe the America West name is going away. I flew them a couple of time to Vegas as part of an America West Vacation Package. Both times were very smooth no issues at all. I would use them again, but wonder how their being rolled into USAir is going to effect them.

Flown with them and had good service...also had problems with them...BUT..seems that can happen with any airline, so it all comes out in the wash sometimes.........

As someone already stated, America West is now part of US Airways...I haven't really found that they're any better/worse than the majority of airlines these days...the new paint scheme is nice anyway

I've flown with lots of airlines, and anyone can have bad days. I've had fewer of those on America West than other airlines, and when bad days have happened I've found they went above and beyond to try and make it better when given the opportunity to. For flying around the west coast they've got it going on, and the fact they offer nonstop service to so many locations keeps me flying them.

I may be a bit biased though. I know a certain DISer flight attendant, and his travel benefits keep he and my Mom visiting us regularly!!
