What amenities will we find in our rooms? Read some trip reports, but didn't find them mentioned. All the usual?


bath soap
conditioner
facial soap
hair dryer
self-serve laundry on property
shampoo
what else

Anxious to see the rooms, lounges, breakfast rooms, etc. Do any of you have photos from recent trips that you are willing to share?

From what I remember a year ago, the hotels did have soap and shampoo. I'm not sure about conditioner and I don't believe there was any self-serve laundry on the property. I'm sure the hotels could do you laundry, but I would imagine it is quite expensive. They did have hair dryers, but my wife brought her own, so I don't know how well they worked.

Currently:

Rome - Hotel Bernini Bristol
Tuscany - Hotel Paggeria Medicea Borgo di Artimino
Venice - Luna Hotel Baglioni

Rome and Tuscany are the same as 2008 but the Venice hotel is different. It looks like the Venice hotel is closer to San Marco, which is a plus.

So, yes the first 2 hotels do have the amenities you mentioned except the self-serve laundry. They also do not have American-sized washcloths. I took disposable ones. The ones provided, if indeed they are wash cloths, were more the size of our hand towels.

Welcome to Europe!

It's an especially rude reminder of being in Europe while standing in the shower with soap in my eye, trying to find the washcloth that is nowhere to be found.

Most of the hotels in Europe and the UK do not provide American sized washcloths!

Now, I bring my own washcloth from home in a ziplock back. Be sure to bring a colored washcloth so that it won't get mixed up in the hotel towels.

I guess a washcloth is some type of American invention. Maybe Europeans never get soap in there eyes.

Thanks! Perhaps one of those cute DISNEY CHARACTER washcloths that enlarge to full size when placed in water would be a good addition. I can just place them in one of the plastic zip bags I always carry after they dry, it won't take up a lot of room for travel, and we can leave them behind.
