Amazon gift of Prime question

I really want to get my parents a Prime membership for Christmas but can't figure out how to do it - has anybody in Canada done this before? The only instructions I can find is for Amazon.com (in the U.S.) If it can't be done I was going to buy an Amazon.ca gift card but not sure if they can be used to pay for Prime or not?

I don't think you can do this in Canada, not positive on that, but you cannot use a gift card to pay for Prime. I know that and wish it were otherwise.

Can you give them a voucher for a Prime Membership and then after Christmas using input (passwords etc) from them sign them up and pay for it yourself?
