When we checked in at the Poly at 1 AM on Thursday morning (nasty storms in DC made our flight very late) there was no one around either outside at the bell stand or inside at the registration desk. After a couple of minutes, a CM came to the desk and we got checked in. I gave her the credit card and all that, and then she said, "I don't know why, BUT YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN A COMP UPGRADE TO CONCIERGE"! AT first I thought I misunderstood her, me being sleepy and all, but it was true. So we just spent the last four wonderful days and nights in the Hawaii longhouse at the Polynesian enjoying ourselves!

That's awesome!!!

That is amazing. Did you have fun?

And tell us what is new at the Polynesian, please!

How was the lounge?? Would love to hear a little details about the food and DRINK offerings.

That is an amazing example of PIXIE DUST!!!!!

That is great. I'm sure you had a wonderful time so when you get a chance, post what it was like there. The magic still shimmers through.... ;)

I wonder if they had given all the rooms to other guests for the type you requested so they upgraded you.

We were also upgraded at the Polynesian when we arrived late and it was also after midnight on a Thursday, July 21! We were upgraded from a garden view room to a lagoon view concierge room in the Hawaii building. It is a great location - close to the volcano pool and the main lodge with restaurants and monorail. We had a third floor room with balcony and a perfect view of the castle at MK. We also watched the electric water pagaent from our balcony and the MK fireworks. It was great!

We had breakfast every morning in the concierge lounge. It was pastries, bagels, cold cereals, fruit, juices. We also stopped a few times in the afternoon and had cookies, lemonade, and sodas. In the late evening they had small desserts like chocolate mousse, key lime pie. They also still had the cookies for the kids. We did not go there for the dinner time food because we had the dining plan and always had reservations.

We did not see any bad behavior in the lounges as has been mentioned in other threads. We saw a few people with bare feet and a couple of women in pajamas with obviously nothing underneath, but that was it. The lounge was never even very crowded when we were there. We always had a table to sit at for breakfast (about 8:00 to 8:30).

It was a very nice surprise to get upgraded and I enjoyed the concierge building, however I would not be willing to pay extra for it. The room we had was about $200 more than the regular garden view room. We did not use the concierge desk services because we never had a need, so I can't say anything about them. Just my opinion. I know many people think it is worth it!
