Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

Go Paolos!!!!! Mama Paolo is the star of the show, and I hope her family is in it for the long haul.

I feel bad for them with their father dying, but this family really gets on my nerves. The Paolo family argues a lot, but for some reason i like them.

OK, I missed the show tonight, could someone bring me up to date. I read that this was a non-elimination round but who came in last place?? Also who kept saying SOB?? Is the rugrat family the one with the 2 little kids?? TIA for the info!! :cool1: :goodvibes :cool1:

The team of sisters came in last, don't remember their name, didn't get eliminated. I don't remember hearing SOB during the show, can't believe i don't remember that. Yes I believe the rugrat family is the family with the kids.

I'm really starting to like the Paolo family. Yes, they are annoying but it is starting to become endearing. This is the second week in a row that they surprised me. I couldn't believe that they would actually bungee! Especially the mom!

My favorit team is still that Gaghans. Those kids are troopers!

The Weavers still annoy me. They pray for everything to go their way and then they root for the other teams to lose. Not classy. Plus, the kid did not get a hit on the baseball diamond. It was an error on the pitcher. So much for the ump.

As for the Pink Ladies ... what a hoot! Wearing thong undies over their clothes along with hats and gloves in Panama, LOL! You go girls!

I have questions about "SOB" ... which team is saying it and is it the whole words or just the initials? Honestly, just the initials don't bother me and I know that my 6 year old would have no clue that it was a "bad word". However, for the record, I swear like a sailor ;). If it were me, it would be all 3 words with all the letters! ANd my 6 year old would still probably not comment on it!

Well, I just can't stand the Weaver family. They had the nerve to call other families rude? I hope they go next.

Some people would have knocked that Linz boy out...I'd be pissed if someone was trying to screw up my kid.

What team was saying SOB a lot?

The Paolo's weren't too bad this round.

The Gaghan's made me want to GAG. They were very "cute couple" this week!

YOu have to love when they go to Spanish-speaking countries. We heard it all: rapido, andale, vamanos!

One of the Linz guys said SOB (yes, all the words, not just the letters) on the boat race to the island. I also don't appreciate the visual references to the mooning that continues from the Bransen daughters toward the Linz guys. Please...... let that lame gag die!
There was also a comment by one of the girls about flashing the guys as she ran the base. Did I miss such comments in past races or were they not there?

I checked out the Amazing Race webpages on CBS.com and Phil has a video diary. The first entry is all about the AR truly being a family show that "doesn't have the parents covering the kids eyes or sending them running out of the room". He speaks quite a bit about the show being for any age..... a true family show.

I would like to see the profanity bleaped out & no more mooning references. I sent an email to CBS saying so and quoting Phil. I agree that many families do not speak in such a manner and, if they want families to watch, they need to remember that.

Not really very excited by this episode, I figured with the number of teams left that it would be a nonelimination leg. My opinions on the teams are pretty much the same, although I am glad that the Paolos are being a little nicer to each other :flower:

I also noticed the SOBs during the episode and found it strange that they would put them in a FAMILY edition.... :confused3

I was getting really nervous for the Gaghans. Glad the father can hit a baseball. I had a feeling that even if they were last, it was going to be a nonelimination round since they were showing them lagging behind and waiting at the fast forward for most of the episode. It would have been too obvious if they went home.

The blonde sisters were too funny showing up at the mat with all their clothes on. Was one of them wearing a mosquito net over her face?

I loved this show! It was more like the "old" AR! Boy, that little girl is getting pooped! Hope she can make it to the end! I really like this family. I can't believe they were going to bungie jump with the kids, though. :earseek:

I loved seeing the Italian family dangling from their feet hundreds of feet above water, though! :teeth: They should do that more often. ;) I'm beginning to like them more and more.

Still don't like the Weavers. They are so phony.

How can you all comment about the Linz guy saying SOB but none of you have commented when Mr. Gaghan swore in front of his children after the Paolos completed their bungee jumping?

And, am I the only person who can't stand the Gaghans or the Weavers?

People are forgetting something.

Family Edition doesn't mean that your child of any age can watch....it is a label for the types of teams that are on it.

The show is certainly not "G" rated either. Kids cannot be left in a bubble all of the time. Sadly, your child can be exposed to this type of behavior most anywhere. Use it as a teaching point and move on!

I find nothing wrong with the show. Survivor is considered family entertainment as well...and they have clothing issues (or lack thereof :teeth: ) on that show.

No you are not alone, I can not stand both of those teams. And yes Mr. Gaghan said SOB when the Paolos completed the bungee jumping. I couldn't remember who else said it. Thanks to who ever said it was one of the Linz brothers. Once the Gaghans and Weavers leave, I would be happy with any of the remaining teams winning.

Plus the sooner this family edition is over the better as far as I am concerned. Let's hope CBS doesn't decide to change a winning format again.

What time is this show on in the rest of the country? Here it's on at 9:00 p.m. My nine year old grandson is in bed at nine. Are families really staying up so small children can watch?

FWIW, I don't have a problem with an adult slipping with some bad language in front of children once in a while. It happens.

The only team I completely dislike is the Weavers. Can't wait for them to leave. Hopefully, it will be soon.

I agree--my kids pretty much know they are words grown ups use at times and should not be repeated. If they don't hear it from us or from a tv show they would hear it somewhere. This doesn't mean that it's used as a staple in our vocabulary but it comes out. I don't think my kids would even notice it on the TV show.

As far as the game, I'm rooting for the Linz family or the daughter/father team. I wouldn't be offended if the Gaghan's won, but I don't care for the Paolos or the Desperate Housewives (their voices grate on my last nerve).

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Phil: "Did you know it was against the law in Panama to wear you underwear over your pants, which are over your pants, over your pants?"

OMG! That had to have been the BEST pit stop check in ever! I think it even trumped Phil trying to keep a straight face when he was checking in Rob and Amber after they didn't eat the gross food, and convinced other teams to take the penalty. I can't believe how long Phil kept a straight face last night, but then, when the official announcements were made, he couldn't hold back.

He is so awesome. I hope he never leaves this show.

Slacking, thanks for pointing out my omission. I didn't realize Dad Gaghan said that! I reviewed my TiVo and he said more than the Linz brother.

As for the commentary about a "G" or family-type rating........ Phil himself has said that this is for anybody or any age. With young kids on the race, many families are recording it for younger ones to watch at a later time.

I don't disagree that words slip out and kids cannot be kept in a bubble. Also good words about using this as a teaching tool. With the mooning and the comment tonight about flashing, this is not for everybody of any age. My comments were based solely on the Phil's words. He said that this was for everybody and I simply disagree with his evaluation.

In the scheme of life, this is a minor point and I personally don't want to belabor it anymore. Life is life and this is not a big deal. I love this show and I will just be more careful when younger ones are watching the TiVo'd episodes.

BTW, I am also liking the Paolo's more and more. They are a really strong family that depends on each other.
