Do you have any simply amazing friends? Tell us about them.

Yesterday was my birthday and my friend Leigh Ann didn't want me to spend the evening alone so she drove over 2 hours to pick me up and take me out to dinner last night. How sweet was that? She knows that I've been going through some difficult times lately and she wanted to make me feel special. She sure did that!

She was very sneaky about it though. Friday night we were IM'ing and she had asked a few questions, but I never thought anything was up. Yesterday afternoon about 3 o'clock she called and told me to get my shower because she was only an hour away.

She even brought me a birthday cake and a plant. Aww, that was so sweet! The birthday card she brought me almost made me cry.

And to think that music is what brought us together. It is amazing how people come into your life and how important they become to you.

Sounds like she is a GREAT friend. :)

I agree, some people truly make our lives whole and they are usually the people who you find in the most unlikely places. :)

This was a very sweet post. :) Made me reflect on how happy I am to have my close friends. :)

Thanks! I count her as one of the special blessings in my life.

This is the oddest thing, but my amazing friends have been found here on the DIS. I have friends "outside" the DIS too, but the most amazing people have been here. They know who they are and I really am thankful for finding the conncetions. :D

As an example:
My Mickey topper was stolen. I received a new one from a DIS member for no reason at all. Just because.

That's a small example, but the kindness here is overwhelming. ::yes:: These people are genuinely caring. My friends around here aren't the same.

Chell your friend sounds like a sweetie.
My best friend and I help each other often. Right before my wedding 5 yrs ago I had a miscarriage. I had to go into the hosp the day before my wedding and have a D&C. I still needed to pick up my wedding dress and get all the stuff for the reception because we were decorating the hall ourselves. Well she went out that day and got my dress and all the decorations we needed and that night set up most of the things at the hall and finished it up the next morning. The place looked great. She really helped me through a tough time and sure my wedding day was special.

Deena it sounds like she is an amazing friend.

Lewski709 it is great to see how people here on the DIS pull together and take care of one another.

I have several very amazing friends! Of of them lives in Hawaii right now, and even though she is so far away, she makes sure she doesn't miss the little things. She even called my DD on her 7th birthday! Such a special thing to do. She's just a genuinely nice person. She'd give you the shirt off her back.. She is one of the close friends that were there for me through good times and bad. We've shared so much. I will always be grateful for their friendship. We had a hard time when my MIL passed away, and just to have good, strong friendships really helped me hold it together.

Another of my really wonderful friends is a lady who lives just around the corner from me. We met each other through our children (they were in Kindergarten together, then in the same First Grade class). She and I instantly clicked. She's one of those people that make you feel so comfortable, and we ALWAYS have something to talk about. It's amazing. Never any dead air time! LOL

I work with an amazing bunch of people!

My 40th birthday was a few months after my mom died. They all knew how hard it had been for me--we were very close. They had all supported me when she was sick, a few of them made it to the wake & funeral. But they made my birthday a fun day. When I came into work that day, they had decorated my desk. I'm a huge Mets fan and they had put baseballs, pictures of Mike Piazza, etc. all over the place! There were balloons, flowers and a wonderful cake. Then a whole bunch of them took me out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. It made a day that could have tough memorable!

Then for Christmas in 2002, they all got together and bought me a Barnes & Noble gift certificate. When I asked why, they all said "you do so much for us--you're always here for us, and we wanted you to know how much we appreciate all of it!" I cried. Because of a merger at work, I don't work with a lot of them anymore, and some of them left, so I treasure that memory.

Thanks for this thread! It's always nice to be reminded of postive things.

The 1st one Cathy, came to my CM (creative memories) weekend crop.

She helped my sil w/ a wedding album for my niece & an engagement album for her too.

My sil is JUST learning how to scrapbook & needed lost of assistance. Having Cathy help her freed me up to COMPLETE my 1st 12x12 Disney album.

This is my last free weekend before my surgery on Wed. which made this weekend EVER more special!

My 2nd dear friend came to the crop this weekend too & was just a peaceful cropper who ALWAYS lends a hand to someone else who needs an idea to complete a page or two.

BOTH of these ladies have DROPPED everything in their lives to spend time w/ me during a # of my surgical procedures over the last 5 years.

I was blessed with two friends ... oh that I can be a friend to someone like these two have been to me!
