Amazing Adventures of the 2013 Disney Moms Panel Search

OK I think I added my stuff correctly. Now to wait til we all get those emails....

I just applied for the first time!! I applied for the Sports Competition specialty. Can't wait to see how it goes!!

Pixie dust to all the other applicants!!!!

Alright I'm a chatty cathy lol

What is the Disney Parks INSIDEARS site?

Hi Mahorn! Disney InsidEARS is an online community started by the folks at Disney Parks earlier this year. From their site: "The Disney Parks InsidEARS Program is designed to allow Disney Parks enthusiasts the opportunity to share online planning tips and Park memories based on their vacation experiences at the Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort."

It is part message board, part Disney News central. The site itself is still in the Beta testing phase, so they limited the number of invitations they sent to about 1,000. I am not sure what the long term plans are for this site, but I have enjoyed my time there.:dance3:

Ah now I understand when I went to it I couldn't seem to do anything there.

Thanks for the explanation.

Jenn

Hey guys,

Don't forget to add your name to our list of 2013 Moms Panel Hopefuls. Just add your info at the bottom of the list. Do not worry about being put in the right "group". I can get the spreadsheet to adjust that at a later time. Right now, we just want everyone who wants to be on the list to follow this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhlonQpFn9fpdGdUSEVSeFN2V3hibEQ3d1lDS2JMRlE

And remember, this is a public list. So whatever you share can be seen by anyone! Thanks!! :cool1:

Just entered today for the first time. Thought why not? :confused3 Its worth a try. Very nervous now :)

Time to wait.

Hi All,
I've seen some posts about the possibility that a computer program is used for the first round i.e. if any of the multiple choice questions are wrong, the application doesn't move forward and also possibly that "key words" are used to assess the 100-word question. Does anyone know if this is true? Any thoughts on what the key words would be? ... pixie dust, magic ...
Like many of you I felt that 100 words was very short and feel like I didn't get enough personal info across as I really tried to stick to the question BUT it would be very difficult for them to wade through everyone's stories at this stage - 14000!

I was reading an article about computer tracking and grading on a similar process as the application. It went as far as saying that once you have logged in, the website can track if you went to other sites and used the key words..I.e. to look up answers on Google, Wikipedia, etc. It's used for schools that do online testing for students. eek! :/ Glad I actually knew all the multiple choice answers and didn't need to look them up!

I had no idea that as a previous applicant to the Mom's Panel I was now part of the Mickey Mom's Club - I am so excited about this! Think I'm going to spend my evening having a look at this. Thank you so much for posting xx

Just to be sure...me too! Please let that NOT disqualify us!

Oh my! I sure hope the website can't track looking up answers on other sites. I knew all of the answers but I double checked one of them just to be sure.

I have been following this post for weeks but have not logged in and introduced myself. It's my third time applying (last year got to the second round). I was very thankful to this group last year - I never heard anything after the second round and reading the posts kept me sane. I applied for the RunDisney Specialty and am mom to a 4 year old daughter. I'm now trying to talk my husband into applying as well.

Good luck everyone!!

I wouldn't think looking/checking on an answer would disqualify you. No one can know everything, and to me, being able to "research" and find the correct answer is just as good. I'll bet even the panelists get questions they may not know right away, and have to look for the answer.

I wouldn't worry about looking up or verifying your answers online. Nowhere in the application did it state we were not allowed to do that. I'd imagine the questions mainly serve the purpose of making sure applicants are careful about what they post and do indeed know how to fact check. They are not going to want people on the panel that would post information they are not certain about! As much knowledge as we all have about planning a trip to WDW, there is not a single person who knows the answer to every single question that could come up about WDW....but we are all savvy enough to find any information we might be lacking! :cool1:

I agree with this. No one knows everything about WDW--there are too many layers and bits of info. I think they are checking to see whether people are careful about verifying information before answering. I am sure this is a daily part of a Moms Panel member's job. In my opinion, for a job like this, looking up the answers would be seen as the right thing to do.

I agree!

I can't believe how worried I am about fact checking especially like on a question about the name of Ariel's sisters. I knew a few answers definitely weren't correct but wasn't positive.

I am such a worrier.

Plus I would think that fact checking is part of the process of being on the moms panel as many questions you might not know the answer to and would need to find the correct one. We can't know everything thats for sure

Hi All,

Joining in for support during the wait! Good luck to everyone!

I didn't worry about checking answers in the first page of questions but the thought that crossed my mind on the second page with multiple choice was, "I wonder if this is timed." My thinking is maybe they weed out people who take too long because they have to look up every answer. :confused3 I didn't even think about them checking for "key words". It's interesting to speculate though.

I am still using my cute little pink MMC lunch box that they sent out as "consolidation" prizes and the MMC magnets are on my fridge.

I also still have my MMC magnet proudly displayed on my fridge...never got the lunch box, though. That was a nice consolation prize, for sure!

Did anyone else get the big box of party supplies (around 4-5 years ago) to promote Disney to friends and family, that was an MMC promo? I still have a few of the items left. There were 10 sets, I believe, of cardboard Mickey ears, loot bags with colouring books and crayons, several different games, trivia cards and a few decorations, plus recipe ideas. There were also drawings to give to your guests...I think they were of Minnie and Daisy...or Minnie and Clarabelle. I'll have to search out the box of Disney stuff that I stored the leftovers in. We managed to have two parties (really stretched out the supplies), one with friends and one with family. Now that I think of it, there was also a very nice photo album that was included as well. I miss MMC!

I wonder about the time thing because people can get caught up in another task while filling out the application so now I wonder.
