Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

Woo-hoo!!! Amanda's got her groove back!! Amazing how one pretty dress can boost our confidence and brighten our mood!! So happy for you, Amanda!!

There are times when I intentionally forget about my healthy eating plan. You're right - the first few days I tend to overindulge! But then I MISS my healthy habits and I find that I make better choices. I'm betting you'll find yourself moving back toward low-carb in a couple days.

Glad things are sunny for you!! :sunny:

Good morning Amanda,
I'm glad that you like the dress and had a good time with your friend at lunch.::yes:: Thanks again for the title of the book. I went to the library yesterday and placed an order for it from another library. I think I too will skip over the dating section.;) It really does sound like a good book. I am looking forward to reading it.

Have a wonderful day today!:sunny:

I need to catch my breath from    at Doe's post about getting my groove back.

Yesterday was not a good day healthy wise - nothing I ate was really good for me - but I'm going to try to get back in the groove today. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done today but I am just going to do as much as I can.

Tonight we are having Brian's Mom and Step-Dad over for dinner for Father's day. I am making a big thing of spaghetti, garlic cheese bread and salad - because it is cheap! And I noticed this morning that my house seems to have been bombed. All I really need to do is straighten out the kitchen/living room/and office and the rest of the house I am just going to close the doors to and hope no one opens them. We also need to vaccume the three main rooms since it seems that one of my cats:cat: is shedding something fierce and SIL is allergic to my cats so.......

Plan for today:
B: Meal Replacement Bar - 26 carbs but also contains lots of vitamins A, C, B6, B12, Calcium, Iron, and Folic Acid.

L: Something fast since I'll be cleaning. I'm leaning towards Eggs and Cheese :)

D: 1/2 cup of spaghetti and large serving of salad.

I'm taking deep breaths and giving my worries to God - I know I'll get through today and the pile isn't as daunting as it seems. I just need to keep swimming :fish:

Good morning Amanda,
I hope your day went well yesterday.::yes:: Have a great one today!

:wave2: Hi, Amanda. Just stopping by to catch up on your journal. I'm happy to see that you're looking at the big picture--seeing that this healthy lifestyle is about more than just the scale. It's about treating ourselves with respect! Now, if I can just take a page from your journal and apply it to my own life. . .:p

 for your day,
Erin

Yesterday went off without to many problems. My SIL is being a bit on the annoying side though. She had a baby back on April 8th and for the month prior and the month after we saw them almost every other weekend. Well we were really supper busy the month of May so we never came over to there house or made plans with them because we were busy. So last night we are getting the guilt trip about how it is not right that DH and I haven't seen them in 5 weeks and especially how can we ignore our new nephew and blah blah blah blah blah. She did the exact same thing when her first son was born so I know the routine. It is really frustrating because the last two weeks we haven't been busy but they have so it isn't our fault we haven't seen them in the past 2 weeks - but somehow in her head it is. It just gets really annoying especially since I'm sorry - but I don't believe we need to see her kids every week. We need to have a life of our own.

Okay thanks for letting me vent! :)

Food yesterday was okay, it seems I've gotten into a pattern of 2 low carb meals and one higher in carbs - and that is okay. Today our plan looks like this:
B: Protein Shake and Coffee (nothing like a liquid breakfast!)
L: Spaghetti
S: Protein Bar
D: Grilled Chicken Breast and Veggies

We are going running tonight (finally) for the first time this week. We should be doing 7 mins walking/ 3 mins running for 3 reps!

Lots of water is on the menu and I need to get back into the swing of DIET soda! I had 2 regualar cokes last night and it isn't only carbs to worry about there but the CALORIES!!

Hi Amanda!!!

I'm just checking on you to see what's going on and I see you've been busy as usual. I'm glad the dinner went over well and I've got relatives like your sil in my family too. You are so right that you have a life that needs to be lived and family should understand that.

I also agree with you about food. I have to remember that just because something is "sugar free" doesn't mean it's calorie free! I think I'm going to make that my new motto.

Anyway, I hope you get your run in and that you have a great day! :sunny:

Amanda, your SIL sounds a bit clingy! Does she really expect your lives to revolve around seeing her and her kids? Oh my!

Head into the day with a smile - you're a princess: , you know!

Hi Amanda,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with SIL. You are a great Aunt to be so involved with your nephews. You do have a life of your own to lead, and you do your best.

Have a good one.
Beth

Yes Doe my SIL thinks that when she has a baby that we should all just drop everything for a year to be at their beckon call. Like I said it was okay for them to be busy for 2 weeks straight and not have time to get together but it was not okay for us to be busy 3 weeks straight. Plus when we are there we become the on loan baby sitters for her other son. She complains that we don't go over there anymore for dinner during the week. Well we work hard! And I don't neccessarily want to spend my evenings chasing after her 3 year old son while she takes the oppurtunity to relax!

Sorry - this has been pent up inside for awhile ;)

~Amanda

Hi Amanda,

Me again. I've been thinking about my earlier post, and I don't think I expressed myself well. Sorry.

What I meant to get across is that you are involved in your nephews lives, and your SIL should be greatful for that. She should not pressure you to see them more frequently, and guilt should not enter into it. You have your own lives. She is the one who decided to have 2 children. You ARE involved, and her children benefit form your attention. (SO does SIL) You were the one who watched her son while she was in laborafter all. You are a great aunt. SIL is the one with a problem.

Vent away. This is you journal.

Beth

Thanks for understanding Beth! I hate to say it but my SIL is rather on the selfish, spoiled side. Everything and I mean everything must and should be about her at all times. She is trying to force a relationship with DH and I that just isn't going to happen at the moment. DH and her use to be very close mostly because DH was very shy and didn't have a lot of friends. Now that he has learned to come out of his shell and to have more fun (thanks in part to myself:eek: ) he doesn't feel the need to hang out with her so much. Plus we are just in different places right now. They are in their upper 20's and early 30's with children - we are not. We still want to go to bars on a whims notice, or decide to go out to eat at 8pm- their lives are more structured then that because their kids are on a schedule - we accept that, but I don't think she does.

For what it's worth I think she is a bit jealous which is why she keeps asking when we are going to have kids. We aren't going there for a LONG time. :)

~Amanda

Amanda,

You absolutley SHOULD take advantage of not having kids. Be spontaneous. Sleep in as much as possible, go out, go to movies, go on vacations to B&B's. When You decide to have kids, those things aren't impossible to do, but take effort. You are right, she is jealous. I adore my little girl, but I do miss the freedom I had when I was a dink.(duel income, no kids) Enjoy all your time as a couple, Amanda.
Beth

I got to talk to Doe vian AOL last night and I have to say she put the biggest :teeth: on my face. I had a nice little ::MickeyMo fix with her! :)

Last nights run was tough! Whoa! 3 mins of running for whatever reason seems to be a really big chunk of time and my body did not take well to it. Afterwards my legs felt like jello for the next hour.

Yesterday was not a good day healthy food wise. We ended up with pizza for dinner and we ate a lot of it. Today's plan:

B: yogurt
L: ?? I'm going home and I think I'll either make some eggs and cheese or I'll warm up more spaghetti.
D: ???

We are going to a party tonight but I have to be a good girl and not :drinking1 to much because I have to get a cavity filled at 9a.m. the next morning. And that is not something I want to try with a hangover!

~Amanda

Amanda,

I am so impressed with your training. Running is hard work. Good for you sticking with it. Have fun at the party tonight.

Beth

Amanda, I'm glad I could help you find your smile! ::yes::

You are definitely right to enjoy your couple-time with DH before you have kids. Your SIL will just have to learn to deal with it! If I were you, I'd be "busy" more often when she calls, so she'll learn to have a life of her own, instead of relying on you & Brian for her entertainment. I don't mean it as harshly as it sounds - it's really in her best interests.

Best wishes at the party tonight and at the dentist tomorrow!

By the way, we DID eat at 50s Prime Time for lunch, but we were all too full for dessert! :p

I'm never to full for dessert! LOL!

Okay not doing great today - gave into the evil munchie monster and a 100 grand bar. :(

~Amanda

Amanda,

That is one of my favorite candies!

Running is so hard isn't it? My knees just can't take it. Take care. Hope your legs are feeling better.

Hi Amanda,

Just dropping by to say have a good weekend. I hope you and DH get some one on one time.

Beth
