:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: <---- That's me! I am green with envy over your new countdown clock! Woo hoo!!

Way to go on the SF challenge. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc You are doing GREAT!

Hello! I've been so busy I haven't really had time to post. I have avoided candy but I did have a cookie the other day at a friends house. Last night I managed to avoid cake and ice cream. Today was a rough day I won't lie. I got up early and did all the grocery shopping for Thanksgiving and still managed to forget a couple of items, so I'll go back tomorrow after work. DH and I walked our 7 miles today and I think we went a little further. We did a new route and it seemed to take forever. Either way it took about 2 hours and 10 minutes which burned340 calories. Afterwards DH and I came home and crashed. It was a very very long walk.

B: Peanutbutter and a small apple
L: Applebees Chicken Ranch Sandwich
D: Hamburger helper
S: Glass of egg nog.

I was going to do some Christmas shopping tonight but I just can't. I've got some other things I need to do around here as well - like laundry and I have some phone calls to return so I am going to concentrate on that for awhile.

~Amanda

Hi Amanda,

Great job on your walk. How's the weather? Are you freezing on the walks? I just don't see myself walking in the snow. You are doing wonderful. You resisted cake and ice cream.:bounce: :Pinkbounc . Congrats.

You are being very responsible tonight. Choosing laundry overe shopping. You are my hero.

Have a good night.
Beth

I hope you're all recovered from that long walk. I think the training walks are much harder than the actual half marathon - there's no excitement, no characters & spectators cheering us on, no water or food stops. You should pat yourself on the back for sticking with it!!

We're back to the work world this morning - I hope you are feeling up to it. We can make it through this short week!

Ow! Ow! Ow! That was me this morning as I tried to get up out of bed. Ow! Every muscle from my belly button down HURTS! I'm trying to stretch it out but it really does hurt. I don't want to even think about walking tonight - but I guess I gottta. Well we went back and clocked the mileage from last night and it was 7.8 miles! Yikes! I agree Doe - with the adrenline and excitement I hope the actual marathon goes faster!

The scale this morning said 159 lbs. So I am going to try and make good choices today. I figure I can still lose with eating one carby meal a day.

B: 3 egg omelet with cheese, peppers, and ham.
L: Hamburger Helper (carby meal)
D: Pork Sausage and a veggie.
S: Apple w/Peanut butter

I actually allowed myself to pick up some fruit this weekend! I've missed apples and tangerines so I am looking forward to indulging in them. Makes a nice treat at the end of the day and helped me stay away from candy.

~Amanda

The long walks are rough, aren't they?? I am always how surprised I feel the day after. Be sure and do looooooots of stretching when you finish. That has helped me with the day after pains.

Enjoy that apple!

Bravo to you for getting your walk in!! 7.8 miles - what an inspiration you are! I didn't walk my 3 miles yesterday so I'll be doing it today. I hope your post-walk pain has lessened and you either have walked your 3 miles or will be doing it today.

I hope you enjoyed your apple! I know adding fruit in moderation has helped me with my sweet tooth and with having a little more variety in the food department!

Have a terrific Tuesday!! :sunny:

No I skipped my walk last night Doe. I just couldn't get motivated. I am not walking tonight because I am meeting a friend who moved out of town a year ago and tonight is the only night she can meet up with me.

Recap for yesterday:
B: 3 egg omelet w/cheese, peppers, and ham
L: Hamburger Helper
D: Turkey Sausage w/Broccoli and cheese
S: Yogurt Whips - Key Lime Pie (YUMMY!), small salami sandwich.

The scale said 160 lbs this morning :(

Food for today:
B: Low-Carb Yogurt and a tangerine
L: Tuna Salad
D: Chevys

Exercise - none.
Water - do my best to get 8 glasses.

You know Amanda, if your gonna eat carby stuff, it is MUCH better to get the carbs from some fresh, sweet fruit than from candy or cakes, etc!::yes:: So good for you, enjoy that nice fruit! :teeth:

And I will second the stretching AFTER your walks. It really helps with the soreness. Plus, by stretching, you get more oxygen to your muscles, which in turn helps burn fat. Don't "bounce" when you stretch. Just hold the stretch for 10 to 20 seconds. I bet you'll see an improvement! ::yes::

Have a wonderful holiday Amanda! Best WISHes to you and yours!

Only 10 days until Disney! I just can't believe it! :bounce: Also Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone! My fondest memories from my childhood are from Thanksgiving Eve. My grandma would come over and we would all make the stuffing together. My brother and I loved to mush our hands into the stuffing and mix it all up until it was nice a soggy. As I got older I moved to baking pies because I bake better then my mom. :) Then my whole family would wake up early and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade because it isn't officially the holidays until Santa comes down the street.

For a couple of years after I moved out and my parents split-up my Thanksgiving tradition was in shambles and it was really depressing. My Dad would come over in the morning to watch the parade and I would cook a big breakfast. Then we would go over to my FIL's for a quick visit, then to my MIL's for dinner (which I hated) and then to my cousin's house to meet up with my Mom for dessert. Neither of my parents ate Thanksgiving dinner with their kids.

Last year I took my holiday back! Now my Mom comes over on Thanksgiving Eve and we make the stuffing and bake pies together. I make cinnamon rolls in the morning and we get up and watch the parade. My Dad comes over about noon and my FIL comes over about 2 or so and we all sit down to dinner together. After dinner everyone goes their seperate ways, Dad goes home - my brother to his girlfiends - my Mom to my cousins and we hang out at the house and then go over to a friends to play Trivia. It is a shame that Brian's Mom decided to not join us but that is the way the cookie crumbles.

Hi Amanda,

You are lucky to have such wonderful holiday memories with your Grandma. You should be so proud of yourself for taking back the holiday, and not letting family estrangements ruin the time for you. It is a wonderful thing you have done.

I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving.
Beth

Happy Thanksgiving, Amanda!!

Did you have to go out in the snow today? We had to run to the grocery store for a few last minute items and my typical 5 minute drive took 30! I think I should have waited until later when the snow had slowed down.

I know your Thanksgiving day celebration has started. Enjoy your tradition! It sounds very nice. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, Amanda!

What wonderful memories of Thanksgiving you have with your Grandma!::yes:: I am so proud of you for taking Thanksgiving back and for making new memories of your own.

Have a wonderful day today!

Happy Black Friday everyone! My husband actually got up at 5am to hit some of the sales. Sheesh. Although we did get $200 worth of electronic stuff for about $60 so I'm not complaining. Of course we are also waiting for a lot of rebates. Today is another day full of tradition - we put up the Christmas tree and trim the house in lights. My Dad use to the whole house today but we do it in two days so that he can come out and "supervise" one of the days.

Thanksgiving was Wonderful and we have way to many leftovers. I think next year I might buy a smaller turkey because 22 lbs is just alot of meat for only 6 people ;) But now we have Turkey Hash to look forward to - yummy! I ate like a glutton Wednesday and Thursday so today I really want to get back in the grove. My plan - to try and be as low carb as possible today and I would like to get in a quick 2 mile walk. I am going to let Brian of the hook for his walk this weekend and I am going to walk 8 miles with my neighbor tomorrow.

Only 8 more days till Disney!

~Amanda

Good Evening Everyone! Well I was suppose to walk 8 miles today but due to it being freezing outside DH and I did a quick 3 miles. Hey 3 is better then none in my opinion. Our house is finally done wChristmas lights and as soon as it is dark enough I will take a picture and try to post it here. I swear we have WAY more lights then we really need. LOL!

Good morning, Amanda! Did you get your decorating done? I'd love to see those pictures! I hope your weather is better so you can get out there and walk the walk. :cool1: Only 38 more days until you're there in WDW walking that walk!

I'd imagine you and Brian are going to be quite busy this week getting ready for your trip. There are a lot of exciting things in store for you the next few weeks, aren't there? :flower1:

Enjoy your Monday, Amanda, and treat yourself in a healthy way!
Erin

Good morning, Amanda! :flower1:

Only 5 more days until we both leave for WDW! :cool1: Are you excited? I know I am!!! :Pinkbounc My DH has to work very late today and tomorrow so I think that Wednesday will probably be the day that we both start bouncing off of the walls. :hyper: And running around doing last minute stuff, too. :faint:

Have a great day!

Tracy

Good Morning! The decorating is done! I did my 3 mile walk yesterday, and I am starting on my water. I braved the scale this morning and it is hovering at 159 lbs. Not enough to send me into a panic - but enough to make me realize I need to get those extra 4 lbs off.

It is a gross and yucky day here in St. Louis so I probably won't get a walk in tonight. I plan on low carbing all day if I can.

B: Egg Casserole - 3 carbs
L: Tuna Salad - 3 carbs
D: ??? My Mom is coming over to make Turkey Hash which is filled with carbs. So I might have a hotdog w/o the bun for dinner.

To Do List:
Drop off Doe's package at the post office
Make a bank deposit
Run to the grocery store to get cat food (poor babies!)

~Amanda

Good morning, princess: Amanda!

I loved hearing about your various traditions! Those are memories to treasure and now you can see how important it is to make those traditions evolve over the years to fit new circumstances! Bravo!!

Best wishes for getting back on the low-carb wagon! I know it will take some effort. I've decided to change to portion size monitoring while being careful of the type of carbs I eat (fruit - yes, junk - no, 3 bites of pie - yes, 3 pieces of pie - no :p ). If it works, I'll let you know - I'm always experimenting on myself! :flower1:

Walking in the rain is just no fun! I'd better get my 2 miles in today, though, because I think your yucky weather will be in my neck of the woods tomorrow. So I'll walk today and you can walk tomorrow, OK?

I see I made the to-do list - WOW! I'll keep my eyes open for a delivery!
