Amanda Knox found guilty.

If people are interested in very technical information on the crime scene, evidence, DNA, etc. there is lots of info here:

http://www.injusticeinperugia.org/

It includes diagrams and photos of the crime scene, the evidence collected and the entire apartment.

A "spinoff" of this website is injusticeanywhere.org if anyone is interested. The cases highlighted there are mostly US cases.

You've lost all credibility to me by calling her sexist names.

:rotfl2::rotfl::cool1::rotfl::cool1::rotfl:

Actually, you've lost credibility with everyone for not even knowing the basic, basic fact that Foxy was a nickname she got back in secondary school, for her supposed lightning moves on the sports fields. ;)

The reporting is that the first appeal was considered an acquittal that overturned the previous conviction. Then their Supreme Court overturned the acquittal.

However, both she and the former BF were allowed to leave the country. I heard he was actually on vacation in the Dominican Republic during the second appeal. He apparently returned to Italy in time for the verdict. After the verdict, he was forced to turn in his passport.

Yeah, I originally referred to it as acquittal, but edited my post. The Italian court is bizarre and it's language confusing. Supposedly, the case was retried because all the evidence wasn't considered. Although, nothing new was presented.

I read the UK papers got the nickname from Amanda's MySpace. I don't really think it's sexist considering she used it herself .

Yes, it was on her myspace, because it was knick name she got when she was in a sports team when she was a tween. The media twisted it and made some cutesy kids name into something dirty .

Besides the aforementioned lack of DNA evidence. There is the fact that the original prosecutor came up with his motive from a dream. Seems like he dreams satanic ritual killings quite often and used it in other case. SO much so that he was convicted of lying and served time in an Italian jail for it.

Also, there is no murder weapon. The one they randomly picked from Raffelles apt doesn't match what was done to Meredith.

The current prosecution had changed the motive. Ummm...really?

I feel very sorry for all three families. The Kerchers for losing their daughter and having to go through this, and I feel bad that for whatever reason, they can't accept the facts of the case. I feel bad for Amanda for having to live through this. Was she approriate in the aftermath? To an outsider looking in? No, but since I have never been in her shoes and in the shock she was in, I can't judge her on how she acted. I feel bad for Raffelle, and wish he had left the country before the verdict came down. He is putting too much trust in a system that is out to get him just because he wouldn't lie and say Amanda did it.

I don't think our country will expedite her. From everything I was hearing/reading, it will wind up being a political decision not a legal one. At least I hope so. She doesn't deserve to spend one more second in jail.

did Guede's sister write that? Or maybe a Yahoo reporter....

Not sure who the auhor(s) is/are. It's on one of the few rare sites dedicated to the comparatively forgotten murder victim.

Separately, here's a article that documents the fact people in situations identical to Knox (had "acquittal" reversed on appeal) have been unsuccessful in using that to block their extradition. Or put another way, more evidence that in an extradition scenario the "what the foreign court did was double jeopardy" argument isn't going to help Knox.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/26/amanda-knox-extradition-italy-us-constitution_n_2959522.html

Quote from the article:

"In 2010, a federal court in California found that a man who was acquitted of murder in Mexico and later convicted after prosecutors appealed the acquittal, could not claim double jeopardy to avoid extradition to Mexico. That court cited a 1974 decision from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, that reached the same conclusion with respect to Canadian law, which also allows the government to appeal an acquittal."

I'm sure Amanda Knox was well aware of a different meaning for "foxy" when she decided to use it on her myspace. lets not forget she wasn't exactly the wide eyed, innocent little girl the media makes her out to be.

I wonder why the US media and so many here are desperate for her to be found innocent. Most people I know really don't care. She got herself into this mess. In her statement the other day she "expected" better. I thought that was a strange, and somewhat arrogant choice of wording.

I checked out that site. It's really biased to the point its ridiculous.

Clearly, it is a site created by people who believe Knox is innocent. However, it has links to actual legal documents (many translated in English), and video and photos from the crime scene. Things that would be useful for people wanting to see the actual evidence, documents, testimonies, etc. and for those confused about what was considered the crime scene and where DNA evidence was or wasn't found. Which was my purpose in posting it - and what I referred to in my original post.

Her being or not being a "wide eyed, innocent little girl" should have nothing to do with whether or not she is convicted of murder. Evidence....facts are what matters.

I watched a news special on David Camm last night. He was acquitted after 13 years in jail and 3 trials (here in the US). The first retrial was due to the fact that the prosecution was allowed to bring in a bunch of women that he had had affairs and such with years ago but had no bearing on the case. I'm sure there are many lying cheating husbands out there. It doesn't make them guilty of murder.

I wonder why the US media and so many here are desperate for her to be found innocent..

A big part of it is a reason I referenced earlier: she is a prototype example of the dynamic behind "MWWS":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_white_woman_syndrome

Granted, the travail Knox is dealing with is different. She is not a missing person, but instead someone that many feel was unjustly convicted. But the obsession with her is based on the same elements: the disproportionate degree of attention she is getting has a lot to do with her gender, skin color and attractiveness.

Or as Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz so aptly put it in a recent interview:

"As popular as she is here and as pretty as she is here -- because that's what this is all about, if she was not an attractive woman, we wouldn't have the group love-in -- she will be extradited if it's upheld."

Really and instead she was a what? A calculating ****? She was a sweet naive girl when she went off to Italy. I haven't read anything that says or proves otherwise. What have you read that says she wasn't?

My post was in response to the posts about foxy being offensive or sexist. i wouldn't describe her as a sweet naive thing because she was in Italy doing drugs and banging some guy she knew for 2 weeks.

I think for many people it's the fact that "it could be me". Well, to be specific - it could be my sister, she had a lot more in common with Amanda than I do. Basically I feel that I wouldn't want someone I love held captive to an unjust judicial system (and yes, I know the US system isn't always fair for all segments of society - that's not what this post is about). Her looks don't play into it for me. I usually have more sympathy for the unattractive because I think that life has kicked them in the butt from day one.

Also - while doing drugs and banging some guy you've known for two weeks isn't the most moral way to go through life - it doesn't hurt anyone by the person doing it and doesn't deserve a prison sentence. (in my view anyways)
