Am I wrong here?

You can also get "trail" cameras that are motion activated. Hunters place them on the trails, semi-permanently attached to a tree or something, and when anything comes near, the motion detector snaps a picture. The pic then has the time and date. Copies can be sent to the clubouse. Post a sign "no entry! video surveliance"

Thanks for all the responses. I'm not allowed to put any signs, and I don't think I can put any shrubbery around my property line--it has to be approved.

Like I said, I try to be reasonable with people. I do'nt care if someone comes a few feet onto my lawn, picks up their ball and takes it back to the course. But it really pissed me off that this clown thought my backyard was his personal ball catcher or something. And the cart on my lawn is what set me off. That was beyond rude and ignorant. He didn't even apologize. I hope he got thrown off the course.

The course is semi-public. You can pretty well tell who's who because most members have thier own custom cart. You get to know the "regulars" and don't have problems with them.

I'm hoping that once they finish the last phase in the community, they'll have enough members and non-member residents (you don't have to get a golf membership to live/play here, you can pay to play ala carte) that they'll make it entirely private--maybe give reciprocol rights with the course in the community across the street for some variation.

We've been here 18 years and it doesn't bother me anymore. What drives me crazy is the men that can't wait to use the bathroom at the clubhouse. Our hole goes straight up to the clubhouse. Can't they hold it? If I'm driving by, I blow my horn and wave.:wave2:

Lori
Oh, that's just freaking gross!!!

How about a fake shotgun proped out of a window or two? Or you could just wave one around. Maybe word would get around that you were a little off your rocker and they would be to frightened to come on your property?

Do most of these people live in your community? If so, take their pictures and give them the bill for fixing your lawn.

What about a nice row of boulders side by side instead of the outlawed fence? They could still climb over them (with their slippery spikes :rolleyes1 ) but couldn't get the carts into your yard?

Hehe, I'd discretely put up two little sticks and run fishing line along the boundry of home property. Might trip them up and make them think twice...

A friend of mine lives on a course (private) and has had her windows broken 3 times, and only ONCE did the golfer actually pay for the replacement. The other two times she wasn't home and found her windows shattered. No one left their name at the clubhouse. (rules are the golfer replaces the window.) Nice, eh?

I've got glass break sensors on my windows that are tied to the alarm system. So anyone who breaks a window is in for a REALLY big shock when the alarm starts screaming. My SAHM next-door-neighbor would stick her head out the door to see what's up. I have no doubt she'd call the clubhouse--and maybe even the cops.

Don't these idiots know about the new gun laws in Florida?

I've never owned a gun in my life, but IF I had one I might be tempted to use it against someone who was outside my window. It would scare me to death. Sorry - I live in New Orleans - and if someone was at the window my life would be in grave danger.

We have a murder almost everyday - and that doesn't count the non-fatal shootings. My first reaction to someone up in my yard at my window would be that they are going to kill me. I hope you don't have to live like that, but I do when in LA.

Maybe you could get some neighborhood kids with supersokers to "play" in your back yard.;)

That's aweful. We looked at buying a condo once on a golf course, but I was warned of broken windows & broken windshields. No one even mentioned people walking up to the house.

Yes, I vote for a nicely made sign or 2....and a pretty wrought iron fence with a gate that locks.

We back up to the 16th hole and we have the same problems. I agree that it is rude. I like the butcher knife idea! ;)

If you have any trees bordering your property - tack up some big yellow NO TRESSPASSING signs - does it every time. If not you can make a simple sign and put it on the ends of yoru property facing out.

When we bought this house- a brand new house on 4 acres. We had problems with teenagers coming onto our property for paintball matches. DROVE me batty. The first time they tried this we told them politely that this was not an appropriate place for them to come - we owned teh property and they did not have our permission to be there. We had JUST moved and didn't have time to get no tresspassing signs yet.

The next time they came - the following weekend - they actually had the GALL to park their cars ON MY LAWN and strolled off onto my wooded property. We were posted by then so all we did was call the cops. The kids had the nerve to COMPLAIN to the police officer that our property was their paintball grounds long before we "got there" LMGDAO!! Sorry kiddo - not how it works - go away and don't come back otherwise we'll have you arrested for tresspassing.

There is no tree line, nor can there be one. Or shrubs or rocks or anything else except a black wrough iron fence with a max height of about 3.5 feet.

And there's definitely no posting of signs. Like I said, there are a ton of signs around the golf course telling them to stay off private property, but some disregard them If the disregard the 10-15 already there, one more isn't going to make them pay attention.

Is there a reason that you don't have the fence?

I happen to agree about the signs. The people I work with can't read the signs that state "Do not put your open cans of pop in the fridge." I'm sure if the golf people are aware they are ruining your lawn and don't give a rip, a sign will not stop them.

Whatever happened to people being curteous and nice?

I really dont want a fence. I like the wide open look. I just want the idiots to stay off my lawn! Maybe I'll just start going out and scooping up any ball that lands in my yard before they have a chance to come over for them. :lmao:

Are you allowed to put a sign more IN you yard than at the property line?

Are you allowed to put a sign more IN you yard than at the property line?

No. I can't put out any sign anywhere on my property. Even the "for sale" signs are a special sign with the communities name, and then the broker's name and number in the space provided. Technically the alarm company signs that people ahve in their shrubs aren't allowed, but no one says anything about them, they are very unobtrusive. I could put a sign against the screen on my lanai, but by the time they see it, they're already up to it.

And like I said, they are ignoring the 10-15 signs throughout the corse that say "DO NOT DRIVE CARTS ON PRIVATE LAWNS," "PLAY ON PRIVATE PROPERTY FORBIDDEN," and "STAY OFF PRIVATE PROPERTY." Another sign isn't going to make a difference.

You can clearly see where the gold course Bermuda grass ends and my properties St. Augustine grass begins. There are also white markers indicating private property lines along the entire course.
