Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who is in no way excited or interested in Cars Land? I mean, if there weren't crowds or waits, I'd take a stroll through there, but I have little interest in it. I love DL and DCA. My first trip to DCA was in April 2001, and although it's no DL, I loved it anyways...even Superstar Limo!

I don't really care for Pixar or computer animation, and I'm not really a car person in any way shape or form. Maybe that's why I'm not interested.

It's not that I'm anti-Cars Land, in fact, I support anything (or almost anything) that will bring people to DCA, it's just not for me. Does anyone else feel this way...anyone?:confused3

Same here ::yes::

I have never seen the Cars movies, and don't have children so when I went last week Carsland was not a priority for me.
We did walk through and take a few pictures, we were going to do the SR line on RSR, but it was about an hour so we figured it could wait until our next trip.
I'm excited to spend time going on the rides and exploring more in the future, but it just didn't make sense for us to see it this time around.

I think you two guys are the only ones. ;)

Reminds me of the old Yogi Berra line, "nobody goes there anymore - it's too crowded".

Nope, not the only ones.... My original plan for our trip last week was NOT to go and just enjoy the rest of the park while others were swarming to CL.
Well, I found myself in the swarm when they offered the EE to Resort guests. If we had not had it, I would have waited to go and see CL on another trip...

I was meh about it. I didn't think it would be much more than hoopla. I always fall asleep when trying to watch Cars and haven't attempted to watch Cars 2. I do enjoy Pixar Animation and Disney Imagineering, so I was willing to go see what it was like with my own two eyes.

I was impressed. I am glad that I spent part of all three days I was at DLR in Carsland. Will it have staying power? I think so. Is it the reason to go to DCA? Absolutely not. Just another piece that makes DCA a great park.

That's how DH and I feel, too! We haven't seen the Cars movies and being without kids, we aren't highly motivated to wait long lines for Carsland. Still, we aren't highly motivated to wait in any long lines anywhere so this is not a reflection on Carsland, just how busy it is *now*! Since we go annually and sometimes even more often, it'll be okay if we don't get to see it all on our next trip. We'll test it out this November and if it's too busy, we'll be back again next year for more. From what I hear, Carsland is worth it because it's full of Disney creativity and magic, more than enough for those of us who aren't fans of the movies. :)

I don't know a thing about Cars but my grandson is very excited about Cars Land so I am happy for him.

I think we all have things about DLR that we don't care for or are not interested in. I groan every time someone mentions IASW -- that silly song over and over and a bunch of toys with flapping arms and legs. I don't get it.

Oh well...to each his own.

My husband and I feel the same way. We're going at the end of the month, and I have a feeling that once my kids find out we're going (I can't wait!), they'll feel the same way. Neither are fans of the movie, and there is so much else to see and do there. We'll definitely check it out, but it's not at the top of my list! That said, we did enjoy hearing about Cars Land when they featured it on the Disney Channel--and I enjoyed secretly knowing that we'd be there in 3 weeks.

I was glad to read the other thread encouraging people not to be worried about crowds/lines because of CL opening.

Couple of random thoughts....

  • It's ok not to be interested in something at the parks, the idea is "something for everyone" not "one thing for everyone"
  • I highly recommend watching the Cars movie. It might suprise you on how "adult" it is. This might be my favorite Pixar movie.
  • I agree, some things people love, I don't care for. IASM is top of that list. I also don't/didn't care for the Skyway, Circlevision, Adventure thru Innerspace, and most of Fantasyland.

I wouldn't say I am against it or anything, but it is not top of my list of must do's. Then again my son is turning two this year and neither of my kids have seen the movie. This will probably all change when one my kids says they want to be a car when they grow up.

I think that the addition of both Cars Land and Buena Vista Street has added the much-needed character to DCA that was previously lacking. IMHO it has brought the park up to par with DL. Cars land is very fun just to walk through even without knowing what it's all about. It's less crowded than Tomorrowland is in the afternoon, even at peak times. I wouldn't skip visiting there just because of the hoopla. It's quite well planned as far as traffic flow, etc., and the themeing is fantastic. I can't wait to be back there for the lights to come on in the evening.

What I was surprised about was just how much I loved the Buena Vista Street area! I spent a lot of time there just hanging out, getting pics taken with the characters, going into the shops and taking photos (I was on a solo visit, so I could actually do that!).

Well said Mr Snappy!:thumbsup2

As a Mom with a 7 year old son, CarsLand is indeed at the top of our must do list. But personally...I'm not that excited about it. And quite frankly, the only ride that looks worth doing is the Racers. The other 2 look like an afterthought on Disney's part. Didn't they have something like the Luigi tires at DL years ago that totally bombed?? Why would they put in a similar style ride at DCA?? Makes no sense to me.:confused3 But again, that's just me- I'm sure lots of folks will enjoy all the rides.

I am excited to see the theming and it will be nice to have more then a few things to see & do in DCA. For my family, DCA was a half day park at best. We typically go in for the Disney Visa Meet & Greet, do Grizzly Rapids & Soarin and then hop to DL. So a few hours max...with the addition of CL, we may actually spend 4 hours there!:rotfl:

I am not really a fan of the movie Cars. I saw the first movie once, and I have never seen the second one, whereas I own every other Pixar movie. However, I was excited to see Carsland, and it met my high expectations.

The themeing is incredible, with all the little details. That alone made it worth it to me. When so much of DCA has been lackluster in this area, Carsland (along with the new Buena Vista Street) is amazing. Plus, the walkways are wide and attractions are well spaced, so the area does not feel crowded. And RSR is better than Test Track IMO, and this is coming from Test Track fans.

All that said, not everyone likes everything, so don't worry about it. I suggest you check it out at least once, though, to see whether you like it or not.

I've seen the YouTube videos of RSR and the inside looks to be a slow moving dark ride. Then as you line up to "race", it speeds up. How fast does it get? You compare it to Test Track, which I've never been on but always thought this ride was SUPER fast. I didn't realize RSR went as fast as Test Track.

I've never heard anyone say that they've liked Super Star Limo before. I think I just threw up in the back of my mouth a little. I might have to go home early if I don't start feeling better... ;)

Test Track is faster, but you don't notice that because what you feel is the initial burst of speed on both. Plus, RSR has more turns, so it seems like you are going as fast as on Test Track.

I am excited about Carsland. We loved the movies and the whole Route 66 theming reminds me of our family trips when we were kids. All the attractions, stores, theming and Flo's Cafe is very appealing.

Now Bug's land does nothing for us except we like the show "It's a Bugs Life" but we prefer it at the tree of life in AK at WDW. We really liked the Cars movies but Bug's Life, not so much. Of course, it's mostly geared to really small kids. Will not do anything related to TRON. Yuch!

If they do Avatar land in AK at WDW (and if we get to go there again) I would avoid it completely unless there was one ride that was extremely well reviewed. The whole movie and concept does nothing for me. AT. ALL.

Generally we really like the Pixar movies and the attractions based on them.

You'll be able to enjoy the rest of the parks and avoid the crowds at Carsland since you don't have an interest. :)

I highly recommend watching the Cars movie. It might suprise you on how "adult" it is.

Especially Cars2. Quite a number of parents complained that it was too adults for little children with the whole James Bond type action and theming. As adults, we loved it!

A. If you dont like or interested in CL, thats fine! Not everyone has to like it or want to see it.

B. But if you are not just doing it BECAUSE you think its too busy or you dont know anything about the movies, that would be a mistake. Besides RSR and LFT, the rest of the place is not wall to wall people and you can explore pretty much the entire area without any big waits. If nothing else, its great to go to Flos restaurant and have a meal and watch the amazing views of Ornament Vally.

C. What people miss about this area is you dont need to know LICK about the movie and the characters and enjoy the land on its own. The beauty of CL is it works on two levels: The movie and the characters OR just the entire Rt 66 feel. Its still based on a REAL area just like MS, NOS, BVS is etc. Those buildings from the movie are based on actual places on Rt 66. The views of ornament vally are stunning and the neon is really cool to check out. CL is one of the most impressive lands Disney has ever done and its worth taking a look if nothing else. I been to every Disney theme park worldwide, including dozens of times to TDS, one of the most immersive parks ever built and CL is really on that level. Its something to see even if you dont care for the movies or want to do the rides themselves (although Maters is REALLY fun IMO).
