Am I the only one?

I was all excited about buying 100 points at BLT and another 100 points at GCV at about Xmas time. Since then, my stocks and retirement funds have gone down in value by about $30,000, approximately the amount that the points would have cost.

If this is happening to me, a real Disney nut, think about how it is effecting normal people!

Or am I the only one?

I just looked at my portfolio and !!!!!

I'm down by that much too. I still plan to buy 100-120 BLT points but I may just hold off until things bounce back. I think if oil continues to fall that maybe stocks will take off but the subprime mess is killing us now. 2 more banks just closed!!! They do say that when things look there worse its the best time to buy!!!!

Hopefully, the point cost will not be that outrageous!!

I think some of us, like me, will not buy at all and others, likeTink, will hold off for a while. Either way, that doesn't sound too good for DVC sales.

If people don't buy as much as might have been expected, to you think Disney will hold the per-point cost down or offer stronger incentives? It seems to me that when things don't sell well, the seller has to up the ante a bit - right? Sort of like Chevy and their trucks, right now.

I think everyone has felt it. However, I will say your losses are only on paper right now and really only matter if you plan on cashing out tomorrow.

We weren't planning on doing an add on in '08, now maybe in '09.

ITA on this being a good time to buy mutual funds. Mine have been hammered since the beginning of the year, but I feel confident that they'll come back.

I'm just hoping Disney doesn't raise annual pass prices until after August 10th! Can't they *please* leave the prices alone this year, with the economy the way it is? Or at least wait until after the 11th, for me?

Last time this happened Dh had the opposite reaction. He looked at the portfolio and said "Sure glad we bought into DVC - it's the only thing we own that went UP in value"
