I can't for the life of me settle on my July trip. I did the same thing last year when planning my first ever DVC trip. I settled on 5 nights at SSR and 3 at BWV. Then we went back in Nov and when I was planning that trip I was all over should we spend less points and do a split stay at SOG because we can stay there. Last summer I was back and forth with doing the split and then I was back and forth with spending weekend points at BWV vs SSR so we just did week day at BWV. SO HERE I GO AGAIN. I am all over the place......if you have read any of my threads asking for help. I never did this when we weren't DVC members.....all I worried about then was which park to go to which day or ADR's NOW I HAVE THAT AND WHERE TO STAY, HOW LONG, DO WE SPLURGE on the weekend points, do we save so we have enough next summer. Who knows.....maybe I won't even be here next summer...so do I live in the moment and not worry about next year.....just keep borrowing. ????? I AM CRAZY. :rotfl:

This is what I do know/want.

1. We are booked at BCV for July 26th through 31st.....so 6 nights. Arriving on Sat. so one weekend night.

2. We will bank 4 pts. and get another 300 Oct. 1st.

3. We are booke at a resort in St. Petersburg for 4 nights prior to BCV. We are staying in a 2br. there too. I can change these days around if need be.

4. I want to stay longer at WDW.....6 nights is not enough. We will not be back til summer 09.

5. We can stay at Shades of Green for 119 a night per room, no tax, huge rooms, close to MK and Poly monorail. We would book two rooms so 238 per night to do this. So if we add on days....we could add 4 nights here to go with 6 at BCV.

6. We are flying and renting a van.

So do we splurge and use another week day and weekend points at BCV extending our 6 days to 8 and not stay at SOG and only get 8 days in?

Why can't I make a decision on this?????? I HAVE LOST MY DISNEY LOVING MIND.

I don't think you are alone. I used to toss plenty of vacation scenarios out there to my wife. She got sick of hearing them.

You are definitely not alone. OCVPD (Obsessive Compulsive Vacation Planning Disorder) afflicts many of us on the DIS (you want to see obsessive, check out the park or cruise forums).

I have it. You can have it too. And it doesn't have to be Disney -- I do it for all of my vacations, but heck, a guy needs a hobby, right?

My wife has a low threshold when it is either very far away (12-14 months out) or very close (haven't we talked about this 47 times before today -- just make a decision and stick with it :headache: ).

Yup. OCVPD. You are not alone. :rolleyes1

I have it too!!

My bedtime reading are the points chart!:lmao:

Right now I am planning a wedding, a family get together at HHI, a birthday trip, a summer trip, a 15 day DCL Repo Cruise, a F&W trip and a Christmas trip:scared1:

I go back and forth on whether to stay weekends, but when the chips are down, I always fork over the weekend points. We dont like to move and if I make our DVC stays stressful for Dh and the boys, it takes alot of the fun out of it.
So we borrow and dont worry about next year.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: OMG this made me laugh so hard. Your wife sounds like my husband. He doesn't care what I plan....he just says "just tell me the day we leave, once there..... where we are going/doing/eating at each day. He can't take all my indecisiveness and then if I do ask his opinion by the time I finish asking/hashing it out.... I have made up MY MIND and it doesn't really matter what his feedback was. He is easy going and just says....ANYTHING IS GOOD. He does what makes me happy I guess. :lovestruc

OMG :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I do this too. I was so excited when we got our new books a few weeks ago. My kids tease me. My 14 year old sat in my lap one night and said in a wee voice "mommy please read to me from the DVC book just one more time" LOL

I bet I will end up adding at least one more weekend day to make it a full week. Shoot at this point I might borrow 1/2 of next year's and stay 2 more week days to go with. LOL or better yet...call my guide and add on another 100 points :scared1:

Nope...not alone at all. I was a little worried and thinking about doing cash days, etc....but I have given up on that. I am just going to use my points....if it isn't the "best value", oh well, I bought DVC for convenience...

I increased my Thanksgiving trip three times...adding days, upgrading the room...it is never ending....LOL

ahhhh another MD neighbor. We were at SSR this past Nov. We arrived Wed. night the week before Thanksgiving and departed on Thanksgiving Day. I see you are going for Thanksgiving.

I feel for you! My DH made me sit down and plan out scenerios for THE NEXT 3 YEARS!!! He wants to make sure we are getting the most bang for our points! Talk about a migraine! We're new to DVC also, so I'm sure once we get the hang of it, it will be much easier! You may want to hunt down Caskbill on the boards. He is the planning chart guru and his system is pretty user friendly!

LOL that is funny about your dh. IT is just insane when you have x amt. of points trying to figure it all out. I know they are there to borrow so I guess we should just borrow them each time because there could come a year when something drastic happens (IT WOULD HAVE TO BE DRASTIC TOO...LOL) and we have to bank anyway. I mean....we bought into DVC to have awesome vacations and next trip is never promised you know.....anything could happen. So maybe I will just do what I would love to do 10 days at BCV!!!!!!

Oh CASKBILL WHERE ARE YOU??????????:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I say go for it!! I sooo agree with you!

I treat each trip like its our last. We go all out. My boys are growing so fast!:scared1:

We used to stay in studios and try to save up points for extended family, but now I just borrow what I need and dont worry about it.

I will deal with the point shortage if I ever have one, at that time.
I have yet to regret 1 point I used, but I most regret the points I lose. (Im a poet and didnt know it:goodvibes )

Im even of thinking of upgrading to 2 bedroom villas for the 4 of us because they are getting so big. Also will use points at the Grand Californian before our cruise instead of staying at HoJo's.

I want all our trips to be extra-magical:wizard:

SOG is one of the best kept secrets and bargains at WDW. Because of the limited eligibility that could end anytime, you should take advantage of the benefit as much as you can. Unless you're already or expecting to be a lifetime SOG qualifier, save your DVC points by banking them and only using banked points if they'll expire that year.

If you really want to stay at BCV, keep some/all of the weeknights, but stay at SOG on the weekends (some folks even stay at value resorts to save points for not much less than you'd be paying for what is considered a deluxe accomodation equal to SSR/BCV).

I would avoid moving. You'll have years to check out the different resorts, and take your time to enjoy them. Split reservations to me are acceptable if that's the only choice, or I'm unable to get the number of days at my preferred resort and I'd be on the wait list to consolidate.

Why do you need a van? Going off site? It might be useful if SOG doesn't include Magic Express, but otherwise, Disney Transporatation should be just fine.

I am glad I am not the only one on here that has this problem. I change my mind all of the time. We just got back and we decided we would not go back until next Spring. Now...I am really thinking about a Christmas trip and a summer 09 trip. I will change my mind 100 times and change resorts, room category, ADR's...anything to change to keep this compulsion going!!

My husband thinks I crazy half the time (he just does not want anyone to know how much he loves Disney!!)

Good luck with your decision (but I would borrow and stay at BCV!!)

Doctor: There is no cure for OCVPD

Me: Great! By the way if you need any help planning your next WDW vacation, call me.:rotfl2:

We plan, plan, plam and plan. When we finish, we then replan our plan. Once that is settled, we get the EMH schedule and start the ADR planning.

Hi Denise!! :wave2:

I hadn't realized you had such a bad case of "OCVPD" (I LOVE that term!)....hmmm...when you get to BCV...you're going to want to stay longer...but even after 10 days, you'll still want to stay longer. So I'm not sure what to tell you. Last year, we did 3 nights at the Dolphin & then switched over to BCV for 6 days.

BTW...I'm so indecisive, I STILL have not called to switch my ADRs around:headache:

We don't usually rent a van......but we are going to St. Peterburg for 4 nights.
