A thread-killer is someone who sums it all up, inarguably, and leaves nothing more to be said. A thread-killer wraps the topic up in decorative paper, and ties a pretty bow in the ribbon. A thread-killer delivers the perfect exit line, and then exits.
I've noticed that whenever I kill a thread, it's usually when I've posted something incredibly brilliant and insightful. I keep going back, hoping against hope that someone will respond, if only to tell me how charmingly witty my post was, but no one does, because my post was the last word - the ultimate post. There could be no other.
But in reality, the belief that I am a thread killer is accompanied by the feeling that I have somehow unwittingly humiliated myself and everyone else is just too embarassed to point it out. Either that, or it was so stupid no one could think of any polite response and just backed away.
Jdriscol- good point!! I should get some credit for the beginnings of the YaYa's for not getting the last word in there and then locking that thread!! . . .
