Also the operating system is Windows 8.
True, the buyer should have made sure it was what she wanted. However, if the OP advertised a Chromebook as a ‘laptop’ then she was wrong. They are not the same thing. Sorry QueenYeah, my first thought given the price is that it was a Chromebook and not really a true laptop. However, the buyer should have known to ask that question especially given how cheap the price was. And as a buyer, it would be your responsiblity to look up the specs and model number you were given to make sure you liked what the product was.
But like everyone else - the blocking thing makes the seller come off looking more like the bad guy. Probably not the bad guy at all - but it just doesn't look good.
You did nothing wrong and you can block anybody at any time for whatever reason you want. Ignore them. Anybody with a lick of sense is going to know it was their mistake. And there are plenty of laptops without disc drives. I'm using one right now.The box says Asus laptop.
The specs that I posted said it does not have a CD/DVD drive.
I believe I represented it in the exact way it was represented on the box.
Sounds like a good plan. Stick to your guns. She opted not to confirm that the item would function the way she wanted before she paid you for it and left.OP here. I started being harassed by more family members so I decided to unblock the buyer and asked to discuss it in a calm manner.
I told her that I have used it for internet usage only so I know it works for that function.
I asked her to calmly explain what she deems is broken.
That was 45 minutes ago. She saw it and has not responded.
Have I done my part?
How long do I wait for a response?
I did not mention a refund as I'd like to know what she says is wrong with it.
If its nothing operationally wrong with it but just that its not what she expected then I don't plan on offering a refund.
Disagree. A chrome book is a laptop, but not every laptop is a chrome book. However, if the OP advertised a Chromebook as a ‘laptop’ then she was wrong.
I think that was very nice of you!OP here. I started being harassed by more family members so I decided to unblock the buyer and asked to discuss it in a calm manner.

On our local Facebook garage sale, part of the rules are if you do porch pick up especially, once you leave with the item it’s yours. So it’s on the purchaser to make sure everything works before they leave the money and walk away
You opened the door. It's up to her to respond. If she doesn't - she doesn't and you get on with your life. How long are you planning on giving her to respond? Personally, I wouldn't give her more than, say 24-48 hours. Yes, it's Christmas, but that should be enough time for her to at least initially respond and you go from there. Its been 4 hours and nothing.
Not really sure what to think at this point.
How long do you think I should give her? I don't feel she should be able to wait a week and then tell me she wants her money back. You opened the door. It's up to her to respond. If she doesn't - she doesn't and you get on with your life. How long are you planning on giving her to respond?
