Am I solely to blame? FB sale gone wrong

Yeah, my first thought given the price is that it was a Chromebook and not really a true laptop. However, the buyer should have known to ask that question especially given how cheap the price was. And as a buyer, it would be your responsiblity to look up the specs and model number you were given to make sure you liked what the product was.

But like everyone else - the blocking thing makes the seller come off looking more like the bad guy. Probably not the bad guy at all - but it just doesn't look good.
True, the buyer should have made sure it was what she wanted. However, if the OP advertised a Chromebook as a ‘laptop’ then she was wrong. They are not the same thing. Sorry Queen :(.

Whoops! We were posting at the same time! It’s a Windows machine then. It should work fine for downloading games.

I would contact the group admin & explain your story as you've explained it to us. Harassment of the type you're receiving should mean expulsion from the group.

A week is MORE than enough time to determine if you've purchased what you believe you've purchased. And who knows what sort of damage the buyer may have caused in the time they've held the product. At this point, I would not consider a refund.

Like I said its not a chromebook.
The box said Asus laptop and it said no CD/DVD drive.
I gave that info.
I'm not a techy person either so I assume when something says laptop its a laptop....

The box says Asus laptop.
The specs that I posted said it does not have a CD/DVD drive.
I believe I represented it in the exact way it was represented on the box.
You did nothing wrong and you can block anybody at any time for whatever reason you want. Ignore them. Anybody with a lick of sense is going to know it was their mistake. And there are plenty of laptops without disc drives. I'm using one right now.

It's always buyer beware just as it would be if you were selling it on Craigslist or in a garage sale. If the buyer was too dumb not to want to turn it on to make sure that it actually would turn on, then the buyer was an idiot. You don't owe the buyer a refund, nor would I offer the buyer a refund. If the buyer wanted a return policy or a warranty then he/she should have bought a computer at a real store.

You did nothing wrong.

Laptop/Notebook is a form factor. It doesn't matter what operating system it has.

I find the automatic blocking strange but it is up to the buyer to match the specs to their needs. As long as the seller listed the make, model, memory speed and amount, processor type, speed, and generation, any inputs and outputs, and the video memory the information should have been there for the buyer to make their decision. That is the minimal I would expect for a laptop listing.

My guess is it was a video memory problem.

I can't see that you did anything wrong at all...the blocking is unexpected (I'd think that repeat customers might be a thing), but I know literally 0 about buying/selling online and if you get people annoying you about a $5 top, then it makes sense. You told them exactly what they were getting, and it was working at the time of sale, so I'm not sure why they're upset. People can be mean.

My granddaughter has an Asus laptop (one of two that could be used with software she uses) and it is definitely a laptop computer and was $$$. I don't know what kind of games the lady's granddaughter was trying to download, I have been told by our company IT guy that Windows 8 is unstable, so that might be an issue. Or maybe the games are memory hogs and the laptop doesn't have enough of that. I think that since it was to be a Christmas gift, I would have required the buyer turn it on and voice her satisfaction.

OP here. I started being harassed by more family members so I decided to unblock the buyer and asked to discuss it in a calm manner.
I told her that I have used it for internet usage only so I know it works for that function.
I asked her to calmly explain what she deems is broken.
That was 45 minutes ago. She saw it and has not responded.
Have I done my part?
How long do I wait for a response?
I did not mention a refund as I'd like to know what she says is wrong with it.
If its nothing operationally wrong with it but just that its not what she expected then I don't plan on offering a refund.

Sounds like a good plan. Stick to your guns. She opted not to confirm that the item would function the way she wanted before she paid you for it and left.

I think that was very nice of you!

Tailight guarantee. Once your tailights disappear, so does the guarantee.

Its been 4 hours and nothing.
Not really sure what to think at this point.
You opened the door. It's up to her to respond. If she doesn't - she doesn't and you get on with your life. How long are you planning on giving her to respond? Personally, I wouldn't give her more than, say 24-48 hours. Yes, it's Christmas, but that should be enough time for her to at least initially respond and you go from there.

How long do you think I should give her? I don't feel she should be able to wait a week and then tell me she wants her money back.
I guess I should just stop.selling. It's one bad experience that ruins it :(
