Am I missing something here?

Hey guys. So I'm pricing out WDW vacations for February. When I go to the WDW website, CBR (our usual resort) shows up as $249 a night which is what I expected. I've never stayed at a DVC resort and rented points so I've been researching that and came across a website that breaks down the prices for you to rent a DVC room. A studio in AKL for the same dates comes out to $190 a night. Why is it so much cheaper? Am I missing something here? Any hidden fees or anything? What would yo do?

A few things. The CBR price is rack and there will probably be a discount for Feb coming in the fall. Renting DVC can save you $$ if you do not mind a few things. Like a no money back if cancelled(some may offer money back minus a fee), no daily room service (towels, soaps, trash etc. they come every 4th day I believe), a big thing for us is that almost all studios have only 1 bed and then a pullout couch These are just off the top of my head, if this does not matter to you then it's a great way to stay at a deluxe resort.

Personally, we love CBR and because of the concerns mentioned above we have not wanted to rent DVC points. For those reasons we'd just wait until the discounts are released for February and book CBR. But if you wanted to try a new resort and don't mind the differences or risk of no refund it's not a bad price.

The cost for renting a DVC studio is lower because the cost to the owner is lower. One way to look at DVC is as a pre-payment for lodging. Part of the financial benefit of buying a timeshare is that because you've paid for many years of lodging up-front, your cost per night usually works out to be much lower than the average cash reservation price for a similar type of room.

Do you know if the rental price is for a Standard AKL Villa? If so it is highly unlikely it will even be available to rent. There aren't many & they are snapped up by AKL DVC owners.
