Am I going to regret Thrifty?

I've heard a lot of good and a lot of bad, so I'm hoping that the bad experiences are just one of those unfortunate things that have happened to people. I have been a little wary about booking with Thrifty, and being away from the airport for pickup but I couldn't bring myself to justify the difference.

I'm getting a week for $108 (economy - we won't be using the car that much so we don't *need* the space) and the next cheapest I could find was Alamo at $137, then National at $144.

I don't really like their hold policy (it says 15% over your rate or $250, whichever is more - I could handle the 15%, but for some reason I don't like the idea of them holding more than double my rate) but again, its cheap.

Joined Blue Chip so hopefully it'll be speedy, of course we're getting in at almost midnight so I can't picture huge lines.

Keep checking the other companies. I know National usually goes down about a month before if it isn't a busy time. In the past 2 or 3 years, I paid around $120 for a week in an intermediate with Emerald Aisle and $20 entertainment coupon. The priceless vacation contract code seems to be giving the best discount. Right now my reservation is $142 for Dec 4 to 10.

National Emerald Aisle is $160 for me - December 3rd-8th with Priceless. Don't have the Entertainment book but I'm probably going to end up ordering within the next week or so. It's been the same rate for about a month, no changes at all so I'd given up hope of it going down but maybe I'll see some changes in the next couple weeks. If I can get it $130 or less I'll definitely switch.

I've never rented a car. Mom always did that and even then it's probably been at least 10 years since we've done so - so I'm not sure how the car rental rate game goes. I'm great with timing airfare, but not car rentals - thanks! Now I know to start checking even more as the end of the month, beginning of November nears!

I just rented from Thrifty this past August and had no problems what so ever. They even upgraded us from a full-size to a mini-van when the Dodge Intrepid we booked was not available. The shuttle was waiting downstairs and my DH picked up the car and was back at the airport before the luggage had arrived. They were over $200 cheaper than a fullsize on ER at National. If you join their Blue Chip program and book on line , they are currently offering double reward points. For every 16 days rented, you get a free day. I was so pleased with the last rental that I just booked with them for our Christmas trip. Got a mini-van for 11 days for $344 total. Everyone else was over $500 for a full-size.

check alamo rates, they have been dropping lately i have a coupon if you need one just pm me i have an ent book so there are coupons for a few different car rental co in there
