Hi everyone! DH & I are going to the world in October w/ my parents. We'll be arriving late in the afternoon on a Saturday, so we have to do a non-park restaurant. We made our PS for CM, figuring this would really put us in the Disney mood (& also put us in a great location for resort hopping!) HOWEVER, several friends have recently returned from the world, each of them going on and on about how disgusting the food was! The last time hubby & I were there was about 3 years ago, and I wasn't too enthused with the food even back then!

So, my dilemma is this - we really wanted the character interaction to get us going, but can't stand the thought of spending the money on less than palatable food, just because the characters are there. We need a good alternative! The only things I've come up with so far is maybe Whispering Canyon, as this was on our to-do list later on in the week anyway, or the Concourse Steakhouse, since we'll at least be CLOSE to CM!! I should add that none of us are very adventurous eaters - strictly pasta/meat & potato types!

TIA for your help!

How about 'Ohana's? Check out some threads on it, no characters at night, but great location, atmosphere and food! :D

There is no question here. you simply have to go to the hoop dee doo revue. we love it as a first night meal and fun!

Hi,

If it's characters you want how about the Cinderella Dinner at the Grand Foridian (1900 Park Fare)?

Cinderella, Fairy God Mother, Prince Charming and mice ~ buffet dinner with primerib, shrimp, chicken, salads and strawberry soup.

>>^..^<<

We really loved the food & character interaction at 1900 Park Faire.

The food was wonderful & the characters were from Cinderella.

I vote for O'hana. We went to CM on our first night with our 4yr old DS thought it was fine. Would I go back with out my kids ? No.

Thanks for all the great replies!! I'll run both restaurants by my parents & see what they say! (They're slightly less "Disney" than DH & me, so I'm not sure if they'll go for the Cinderella thing - lol!) Also, I've heard so many wonderful things about 'Ohana before that I'm leaning slightly toward that anyway! We've only tried breakfast there before, so this will be a new experience for all of us!

Thanks again - a mere 112 days to go - UGH! :(

Sorry, Stacy6552 - didn't mean to ignore your reply!

We've talked about HDDR in the past. We're just all on a bit of a tight budget this time around - we're figuring on one 'nice' meal per day - nothing too expensive! Also, I'm a bit leery of buying tickets for anything for that first night. We're flying Delta & since booking the tickets, they've already changed our flights 3 times! Who know what time we'll actually be flying by October!!!

We did CM on our first night to get into the Disney mood..the food was great, we all thought so. Since it was Sat we stayed to watch the fireworks. I thought it was a wonderful evening. Recommended it to friends who went in May and they really enjoyed it too.
