I gave up Coke and all sodas right after our trip to Disneyland in 2007. Can I tell you how worried I am about being surrounded by sodas in DisneyWorld? Will my will power prevail?:rotfl: The only thing that may work in my favor is it will be so stinkin' hot in August I will only want water!

I agree with johnsonet--just go with the flow and enjoy the magic the Tiki gods bestow on you. :goodvibes

That is my philosophy,too!

I have priced out our summer/July trip using the room discount and the gift card offer. We are debating which way would be the better route. Here are our choices, please help point us in the right direction!

1.) Using room discount code and getting a GV room, adding on 7 day hoppers for 2 adults/2 children and the dining plan= 4400.00

2.) Booking on the $750 GC deal and booking GV Club, 7 day hoppers and no dining plan. Planning on using the drinks/snacks and such along with the $750GC to cover our food expenses=4200.00

Which way do we go?:confused3 The cost diff is under $300 so its now down to which is the better, most enjoyable way for 4 of us. DH, myself and DD4 and DS6. We plan on spending afternoons and early evenings on resort at the pool and room beating the July heat and doing the parks in the A.M and P.M. hours. This isnt our first or last trip so as long as we hit our top 10 in each park in 7 days we are happy. DH and I discovered the love of Poly this past January and found it very relaxing and entertaining so we arent feeling stuck in a room bored to tears :rotfl:

What way would you go and why?

Thank you my fellow Poly lovers!

I guess it depends on how you guys like to dine. If you do a table service for at least once a day then go with the dining plan. However if you get the gift card you can indulge in those great poolside drinks that really add up like the lapu lapu while you rest in the afternoon! :)

I finally got around to uploading these pics! Here's a couple that I took as we were leaving the last day of the daybed with the resort provided bedrail on it. We had no problem getting DD, 2 1/2, to sleep here and she normally sleeps in a crib at home. We attached it without folding back the flat sheet, and DD just slept on top of that with a blanket we brought from home.

If you are going to use the flat sheet, you'll need to fold it back before attaching the bed rail.

I just got around to using our 40% off pin code to book our next vacation. We went in Dec. 2009, so decided to go in Oct. 2010 (we love Halloween!). I called to book at WL, where we stayed last time, but really wanted CL instead of doing the dining plan. On impulse, I booked at Poly, and now I'm a little freaked out!

I'm going to go read through as many posts as I can, and I look forward to learning more about this great resort!

Melanie

Okay, I'm back. I decided not to do a longhouse request because I already know which one I'll be in because ... I just changed my ressie to a GVL room! Tikiman's part on CL did me in! Hey, this trip isn't going to be a long one, but it's going to be awesome!

Now ... when on the phone, I did not put in a floor request. Is this something I can do with the IPO?

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll have a great trip. And yes, IPO can make that request for you.

Okay, thanks!

(Woohoo, just added my ticker! We decided just this week to go the the World again! :cheer2:)

ETA: My day just got even better!!! I just heard about the military discount on the room and was able to apply it! My package price dropped over $1200! Awesome! Dh knows that I picked the Poly, but I'm debating on whether to tell him that I got CL and just let him come into the room and use the services wondering how much it's costing us. Ha ha!

The only reason I'm giving an opinion here is because of my current reservation savings. I'm using Dreams Unlimited Travel (The owner of the disboards) I am staying CL in May. My original cost was $3500. I told my agent all of the things I have or belong to (AAA, Disney Visa AP holder etc). A couple of months ago she contacted me said Disney put out an AP code. The current cost of my trip is a little over $2100 for CL. I'm more promoting using a company, that deals with Disney primarily, then doing it on your own. They can find you discounts you may never know about and there is no cost to you. This is just MHO ;)

Thank you,

The way we got the discounted 40% off is I sent my sister to WDW for a weekend so we could get the bounce back offer, (7 hr drive down and back):lmao: and it worked:yay: I was thrilled when she called and told me that there was a bounce back offer in her room and it was the one we had hoped for.pixiedust:

We're just using the AP discount on room only reservations -- it's great! :thumbsup2

OMG! You have exactly what I tried to book, same dates and all. I ended up having to do Poly TPV-CL followed by YC-CL so that I could get 40% off of both.

I really wanted to do Poly 2nd and would have preferred BC over YC, but I took what I could, ya know. You've inspired me to call back and try again. :goodvibes

We've stayed at the YC 4 times (2 CL) and the BC once (CL). Honestly, I just take whichever one has the discount available. The YC has a gorgeous lobby, is less crowded and more quiet than the BC, has a balcony in every room (instead of by request), has newly renovated rooms, and shares the same transportation and access to SAB as the BC. Hope this makes you feel better about it. ;) To me, there are just 2 sides of the same resort -- and I would happily stay at either one.:goodvibes

It all depends on your eating habits. For us, we'd choose CL and use the $750 for dining OOP and you'd still be saving $200. But then we like having the CL lounge on trips when we spend a good deal of time at our resort. The lounge in the Hawaii building is conveniently located near both pools, so while playing in the pools we often pop in and grab a drink and a snack to take out to the pool.:) I also think of CL as a time saver in the morning, since we just stop by the lounge and grab a quick breakfast on our way out to the parks. Nice to not have to stand in line to pay every time we want something.

Welcome!!! The Poly CL is really, really fun! And the location is better than the WL -- you can see the castle, fireworks, EWP all from the CL lounge and you'll have quick boat and monorail access to the MK. Plus you can walk to the TTC for monorail access to Epcot. :goodvibes

The more I've looked around, the more excited I am getting. My kids are little, so staying up late for Christmas Wishes was a bit of an ordeal last year. The thought of being able to watch without worrying about the crowds, trip home etc. sounds fantastic. I love the idea of having a glass of wine and dessert in the lounge while watching the fireworks!

DH and kids don't know I've booked our trip, so I am having fun coming up with a scavenger hunt of clues for them in a few months!!

If you stay club level, can you have a snack in the lounge as soon as you check in even if your room is not ready? During regular season (not peak season) is the club really busy?

By the way, let me just say I LOVE this board! I look forward to catching up on the latest Poly news everyday. Sometimes it is the highlight of my day! Everyone is SO nice and helpful!!!:lovestruc:lovestruc

I will give my opinion because my family is similar to your size family. We have been to the Poly with and without the dining plan in a GV room each time. Last year, our children were 5 & 6 when we went. I liked the dining plan for the ability to try restaurants I hadn't tried before. The price is good because we definitely would have spent more on our own. BUT for the age of our kids and the fact that each dinner took out so much time from the parks, I would not do the dining plan with them while they are young. I would do the dining plan again, but only when they can handle the restaurants better. Don't get me wrong, they were GREAT in the restaurants but it just took up so much time each night to go to dinner AND we were committed to specific parks and hotels each evening. I would choose the gift card option. I would only schedule a few table service dinners. I can easily spend the $750 on table service, counter service, snacks, and souvenirs if there was anything left over :)

Yes you can go to the lounge and have snacks or drinks even if your room is not ready, however there is not always food laying around in the lounge. Water hot cocoa and soda is always available. There are scheduled times that snacks are put out.

There is a small rush of people when they first start serving food. Never really had a problem with crowds. And besides I could care less if I get the first rib! :rotfl2:

Hi guys, I've been MIA the last two days scrambling to get ready. Packing up right now. Looks like the weather will be mid 70s our first three days, then back in the low 60s the rest of the trip. Guess we'll take advantage of the pool as soon as we get there!

If I don't get back on between now and Sunday, I wanted to wish all my Poly friends a great week and I'll be sure to check back in here a week from Sunday and give you the lowdown of our trip. Thanks to everyone who kept me company while waiting for our big day to arrive. I can't believe I will be there on Sunday! :cheer2:

Talk to you all next week! TPV, here we come!:woohoo:

Have a fantastic trip lissiesmom!!
Give us a full report when you get back!
(going off to sulk now because I won't be arriving at the Poly tomorrow!)
