Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

the truth is... I am going to be thrilled with just staying at the Poly period BUT I am still struggling with which longhouse to request!!! Our MOST important request is 3rd floor with balcony. I put in a request for Fiji or Aeotera but after reading other's TR and seeing pics, I think my kids would LOVE Samoa and it seems a lot of people love Tokelau! Oh please help! Should I call back and change my request????????? :confused3

For those of you who have stayed GV, what is your favorite and why?

Don't stress too much, you will be at the Poly so it's all good!

I like Tokelau for the location right next to the 'quiet' pool (it has a deep end that we all like to jump in!), short walk to the GCH & volcano pool, and not too far of a walk to the TTC. I prefer a patio so we have more 'room' to spread out when we go outside and we can see all the cute ducks and animals in the morning. I also like that Tokelau has balconies and patios on all floors.

Again, just personal preference. As you can see on this thread, everyone has their own preference and they are all good!

Good luck!

So we are staying CL the first week of May. I'm trying to go without luggage. Is there only the one location for laundry? I was hoping there would be washers in our building.

The laundry is located in the same structure as the Neverland Club (which I believe is on the other side of the Rarotonga longhouse). When we stayed in the Hawaii longhouse, it took maybe about 2 - 3 minutes to walk there. I did laundry that evening while DD10 was at the Neverland Club. :goodvibes I think it's $2.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry.

Don't stress yourself is right. Disney will give you what they give you. They can only give you what is available. On my honeymoon I wanted a room by the rockslide pool, ummm so not. Wilderness Lodge wanted center courtyard, ummmm so not. Stick with your third floor request and hope for the best.

Everyone has their favorites but for me, my favorite GV was Samoa. Our view was facing the volcano pool but on the other side it faces the quiet pool. This longhouse (as is Fiji) is centrally located, very close to the GCH, the boat launch to the MK and the beach. :goodvibes

Since the 3rd floor balcony is the most important to you, I'd request that and let the Tiki gods do the rest. :thumbsup2

Welcome!!! I will say that IMO there are 2 downsides to a room with a TPV:

1) the cost

2) once you've had one: the feeling that you'll never be happy with a different view :rotfl: We had an amazing view of the lagoon, castle, EWP, and fireworks from our room last year, and I just couldn't book a GV this year because we'd all miss the view.;) Maybe I should have just started with GV...

I would have to agree with mmmears, TPV is expensive and once you stay there you won't want to go back! But based on our experience, I agree with those who say if it's in the budget do it. We loved how we could get the kids ready for bed and just relax in our room while watching the EWP & fireworks. It was my DH's nightly ritual just to sit quietly out on the balcony and take it all in. The problem is, it IS addictive. When I booked our latest trip the only thing my DH was concerned about was whether I had booked TPV! :rotfl:

I agree totally! Our first stay was wilderness lodge! We were happy as can be, even though our view was a parking! Then we stayed carribean beach preferred room not the greatest but not bad! Then we stayed poly club level. Now I ask the wife where whe would like to stay. She says POLY CL! Can't seem to get her to stay anywhere else and we can't seem to stay away!

I do think that if we would have stayed garden view I could convince her to take the garden view again! Addicting!

Any room at the poly is A dream! But if you go with a LV or CL you will be hooked!

I just called and upgraded to the TPV. You all were too convincing!

I had the 40% pin and thought I may as well use it to its fullest! Besides, my kids and DH want to stay at AKV next time we go, so I'm getting what I want this time. :rotfl: Besides, with the kids being young if they tire out I won't miss the fireworks.

It's so easy to justify. ;)

What room # do you think has the best view? Post some pictures if you can.

In response to this post, and quite a few others I have seen of late, I thought I would provide a link to a terrific thread containing loads of Polynesian Resort pictures. I know how fast this thread tends to move and it is overwhelming if you are new to it. Perhaps the picture thread was missed.

I hope those new to the Polynesian FAQ (and even those of us who are long time Polynesian fans) enjoy the view:

Well with the pin how could you not?! :rotfl: Though Tess is right! :lmao:
Seriously, though, we found it fantastic with our kids (aged 4 & 7). As I said, we could get them ready for bed and winding down and still catch the fireworks & EWP. We also really loved the feeling of being right in middle of everything - seeing the castle, the fireworks, monorail, space mountain, CR, fairy boats ... and hearing all the sounds - the boat horns, that cheesy, but oh so memorable music from the EWP (our kids would get so excited when they heard that every night). It was a wonderful feeling of being right in the heart of WDW - as corny as that sounds - it's hard to describe it any other way. :cloud9: I don't think you'll regret it. Oh, and don't forget to sleep with your curtains open ... nothing like waking up in the middle of the night to see the castle changing colours off in the distance ... :cloud9:

Yes, too addictive. When I booked our upcoming trip there, GV CL was still available with the AP discount, but we just couldn't do it... We'd miss that amazing view...:cloud9: I kinda wish we didn't know about it, since I can't book GV because I know what I'd be missing...:sad2: :rotfl:

 I'm sure you'll love the view, and it really helps to have 40% off! We found it so relaxing to watch the fireworks from our balcony at the Poly! :cloud9:BTW, we love AKL as well.

:rotfl: I don't think we ever closed the curtains at night when we've had that castle view!!! It's so pretty over the lagoon, with the castle changing colors and the CR and the GF all lit up and pretty!:lovestruc

:thumbsup2I really agree here with Anna114 -- people stress over their longhouse request all the time, second-guessing themselves and making revisions... then they get to the Poly and end up in a different building anyway.

Asking for one thing, like a balcony, and leaving the rest to the Tiki gods, seems to be the best approach here.;)

DD and I are watching our video from our Poly stay in 2007. It's soooo beautiful, the sun was shining and we were so relaxed! I wish we were there right now!

I wish I was there right now, too! How nice that you have a video to watch and reminisce...:cloud9:

I just wanted to join everyone that loves:love: the Poly, I made reservations for a split stay between the BC DCL and Poly TPV CL I am so excited :cool1::yay::woohoo:I have always wanted to stay in a TPV room and was able to do this with the 40% discount.:worship: Now all I have to do is wait and try not to drive everyone crazy:rotfl:

Hi!

I don't remember if they had root beer in the lounge when we stayed at BWI. Do they have it in the Poly lounge? Does anyone here know if that's something I can request? :)

DS9 is only considering staying Poly LV CL instead of POP because I promised him root beer in the lounge. :rolleyes1

You can't! That's my job!

Congrats on your split stay - it sounds like you'll have a good trip. :goodvibes

Thanks kaffinito

I feel like bouncing off the walls I am so excited!:rotfl::laughing:

This will be the first time staying at the BC, just my sister and me on this trip, I can't wait, she has always wanted to stay at the BC so when we were able to get a Deluxe CL room at a great rate she couldn't pass it up. I had really wanted to stay at the poly but at the time they didn't have a GV CL available so we were going to stay the whole trip at BC until yesterday when I called and they had the TPV CL room avail. I couldn't help myself and changed the reservation to a split stay. I can't wait to see the view that all of you have been raving about. It sounds so magicalpixiedust:
Thanks to all of you for the great information and pics.:worship:
