Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

It depends on the room number. We stayed one night in Aotearoa in a GV room and we had a great view of the lagoon, fireworks and EWP. There was a tree blocking the castle.

There are about 8 TPV rooms and 12 LV rooms in that Longhouse so you could have lucked out and received a room next door but classified as a GV due to a random tree or something that may block the view from certain vantage points.

We would love to see pics! :thumbsup2

The Poly has always been my dream resort, but for various reasons we've always stayed at the All Stars and vowed never again on our trip last August. Well now I have a PIN code for 40% off a Deluxe and am booked at the Poly! The problem? I'm really having to stay less time than I'd like or could afford to stay at a moderate. Is a shorter trip worth a stay at the Poly? We're talking 5 nights at the Poly vs. 8 at a moderate. I just can't decide what to do. DH wants a shorter trip at a nicer resort, but I am not sure we can do all we want in 4-5 days. Then again, I don't know when I'll get a 40% off PIN code again either...

Oooh, tough call. Is there some stuff from your normal itinerary you could ditch for this one time? Maybe, for example, if you usually go to Downtown Disney you could drop it this time. Or pick your least favorite park and not go this trip? If you normally dedicate more than one day to MK give it only one day this time. Then go to the other parks early, try to get done by mid-afternoon, have a break and then get in some extra MK time in the evenings(if you have hoppers). Being on the monorail it only takes a few minutes to get to MK. We got in a lot of extra MK time on our last trip by heading over in the evening. Just a few suggestions on how you might make a shorter trip work (because I think the Poly experience would be worth it!)

Aloha Everyone!

I am trying to update the reviews page in the beginning of this thread. I think I got the most recent reviews that had pics. I am going to try and post links to reviews without pics next.

If you have a post that I may have missed or is not on this thread that you think would be a good addition to the reviews page, please share it with me so I can post a link.

Here is the page CLICK HERE!

Also if you have a TR from a Poly stay I can also post a link to that!

Thanks! :flower3:

Was wondering what people thought about online check in process. We will be staying CL LV. Since we are staying CL should we just check in like normal or should we do on-line check in? We do have a couple of requests that I already emailed cl about.

ppony - if you saw all that from your room, I think you did get an upgrade. I don't recall hearing of any GV rooms in Aotearoa that had a view like that, but I could be wrong. That totally sounds like a LV or TPV room to me.

I checked Tikiman's site before I posted to see if it had been an upgrade. It sure felt like one! :thumbsup2 As breezysmom suggested, it did have a tree obstruction but it was a beautiful tree :rotfl: and it was very sparce. The bellman didn't know what kind of a tree it was becuase we asked. But it looked like a mango type tree? The fruits or pods on it looked avacado looking. I just uploaded almost 700 pix to Walmart's site so I'll transfer a few tomorrow. Soooo tired now. :upsidedow It really was gorgeous! Not at all what I expected a GV room to be after our first GV room in 1994.

Breezysmom, I'll send you a link to my view photos as soon as I get them on photobucket. :) I really didn't take many room pix dang it. We just came in and dropped so the room wasn't pristine for more than 20 seconds. :rolleyes1 But what a great change it is with the flat screens as opposed to the old armoires for the other TVs!

Beautiful pictures Stephanie. What kind of zoom did you use for the castle photos?
Thanks. :goodvibes Man. I'll have to look at my camera for the zoom length. It's just a regular point and shoot though. In fact, it was our Canon D10 water camera. (OMG, I still have to soak it in water to get the salt off. EEK!) So it wasn't a good zoom at all comparatively speaking to other regular point and shoots. BUT good enough! :thumbsup2 AND I didn't have that camera on me when Wishes was going because DH and DS went back to MK to take pix for me (CRABBY toddler) but I could see the fireworks beautifully! Couldn't hear the music of course but could see the fireworks! My D10 has a fireworks setting too. Dang it all. ;)

My DH wants to take me to Disney for our 20th anniversary.:worship:

We are hoping to go over Memorial Day Weekend because I got a code. Of course I pick the Poly for our stay.:cloud9:

That is awesome!! Are you going to stay CL again? Will it be a no kiddo trip? I want details?

DH and I were kidding around about doing a vow renewal for our 15th in Vegas. We always joke that we should have eloped to Vegas and got married by an Elvis impersonator. Then I was reading a TR from a couple who did a vow reneawal and DH told me to look into it! Well I did and while it would be fun...it is $$$! I would rather spend the money on a two week stay for our 15th anniversary. We had a big beautiful white wedding already so I will just have to wait until DD gets older and insist on a Disney Wedding :rotfl:

On another note, I was pricing out a possible Christmas stay for 2010. Holy cow the prices are so high! Even if I did score a 40% code it would still be about 5K for standard GV! Maybe when we go in July I can score another incredible bounceback for December....:rolleyes1
A girl can dream!

Congrats on the anniversary trip! Keep us updated on the planning :thumbsup2

Thanks for the good wishes! I am keeping my fingers crossed. DH needs to get off on that Saturday. We will know for sure by the end of January. If not, we will have to push it into June IF I can get a code. We are hoping.:wizard: I missed out on my bounceback. No luck there for me. I am happy for you that you are going back next summer.

We are planning to stay CL again. I was so spoiled. We will not do the dining plan this time though. We want to eat at Ohana's and the restaurant at the GF that sits on the water.

We will do the MK for a day and DD of course. We really just want to relax by ourselves on the beach, watch the fireworks and sit by the pool. The kids will stay with my parents for the four nights. It isn't very long, but I will miss my kids.:grouphug:

Breezysmom, what about getting AP's? - we got the Beach Club&Poly booked at 40% off for our 12/1 trip and am pretty sure we'll get that rate(or close to it) in November 2010.

It is funny you mention that because I was talking to DH about AP's today. I really don't know a lot about the whole ticket process but I was thinking about exploring upgrading our tickets in July (we have a great bounce back rate booked) to AP's since we want to go back in December 2010 and then we could plan a trip for spring break 2011 or early summer after school gets out before the APs would expire.

Would that be possible? :confused3

Sounds wonderful! :cloud9: DH and I were supposed to have a getaway weekend next weekend but Breezy has H1N1 flu and we are quarantined for seven whole days! I plan I spending a lot of time on the DIS this week! We will reschedule for another weekend. I need to get my baby better!

I don't know if this will work for you but if your go to the official Disney website and have an account sign in and price out some trips and save them for later. I have done that a couple times and then received a code via e-mail. DH did it too and we both got 40% off codes. :thumbsup2 Good luck!

Looking at the pictures that people post of the Polynesian and this thread really makes me miss the Poly a lot. Who knows when i'll see the hotel with my own eyes again!

Oh, no! I hope Breezy feels better sooner than later. My younger two got the mist and my older son gets his shot on Monday. I am hopeful that it works.

I have been going to the site. It does work because I did get a code for May, but I may not end up being able to use it if DH cannot get off. I may need to hope for one in June.:scared1:

Yes, it's not only possible, but for us, a good deal. We did 4/3 in April 2009 (and upgraded to APs while we were there), went back in summer, and plan to go back again in March. The AP's are saving us lots of $$$ in ticket prices!
